Rumour going around that rockstar (or Sony on their behalf) will announce next gen rockstar game, supposedly GTA but could be anything.

I enjoyed the gameplay for red dead but the story and characters were patheticly poor and Jonny Mendoza spoiled the ending for me by posting it on here without spoilers. A double whammy.

Strongly disagree with that, there were some great characters, excellent dialogues and well written storylines, in particular I felt the whole John Marston/Bonnie MacFarlane relationship was wonderfully written, starting from him being rescued and nursed back to health by her and her father to the day he leaves to go back to his family, some brilliant humour as their relationship developed and the way there was an obvious attraction between the two characters and a sadness in both of them that they knew it wouldn't go anywhere because John was always going to return to his family when he could.

If we didn't have such lazy mods around here this would never happen. :SMUG:

Agreed. Along with the game's terrific ambiance, I really enjoy the Red Dead story and characters. Best Rockstar game to date, in my opinion.

Up to the Bonnie part I liked it. That felt well written and the story was building up nicely. But after that it went downhill and they threw in cliche after cliche.

That guy Seth (I think) who you meet next, he's clearly crazy going on about his map but promises to help you if you help him... and John just goes along with it no questions asked. You go around killing innocent people to help some crazy guy, who is CLEARLY crazy, instead of just ignoring him and carrying on.
It felt like they needed to pad the game out so just threw in a typical lazy game character design.

Then you have that corrupt Mexican dictator burning down rebels' houses so he and his men can have their way with their women. I tried thinking outside the box and killing them myself to save the women but NO.... you have to help the rapists :CONFUSE:

It felt again like this was made by a different team with no idea how the game opens or who the character is. You just go along with the mission with no fuss.

Well... I say 'no fuss;. He does mumble to himself "This is the last time" - every single time these lazy missions pop up. The character we had at the start just becomes weaker and weaker as it goes on. He's full of empty threats, a pushover, no spine or cause or sense of morality like he has early on.

The writing and 'jokes' are piss poor too. That guy in Mexico who you end up helping as part of the revolution who can't remember his fiancee's name. It get forced into almost every line he spews over and over each time you meet him. The ONLY good thing about that part of the game is the actual Fianee (whose name i forget). I thought she was awesome and there would be another story to mirror Bonnie's... you help her and she's a strong woman and yet he's going back to his wife etc...

But no, she's crazy about this dick who doesn't know her name. Piss poor.

Almost everyone in the game is handled the same way though. you're slapped in the face with the same exact 'jokes' each time you bump into them. Irish is always drunk. That professor is making drugs or taking them. The Fed agent keeps using the lines about not understanding his Indian informant, even though he's told over and over that he speaks english fine.
In the civil war part the military and the rebels are portrayed as useless drunks... and the John helps them both, and neither side seems to care!

The same terrible characters we had in GTA3. It was like they just went through a check-list and added them in 1 by 1.

And to top it all off.... John controls like a bus on ice. you have to line yourself up with doors a few steps before you enter them otherwise he bumps into the frame and you have to walk away and double back and try again.

I think it had a great setting, great opening chapters... but then just became a rush job and paint by numbers.

Since the PS4 update does anyone else find saving video clips to be even more unreliable than before? When you press the share button it seems like a lottery as to whether or not the option appears to press square to save video clip. Sometimes the option simply never appears. I've lost loads of really good goals in FIFA because of it.

Also, I've been playing a game and it can sometimes just pop a message up saying 'video clip saved', when I didn't press anything and nothing of note had even happened!

Never had the 'press square to save' not show up.

I did notice that if you catch share by mistake and then cancel back to the game, it forgets what it just recorded. I had a nice goal on FIFA recording, went into replay to get another angle (then I could cut the menu parts out in share factory) but I caught share. Went back to the game, got the angle, hit share and noticed it only had the new 20 second clip there. No gameplay goal.

Hmm, strange. When I hit share, then the square button option to save video doesn't show up, that's the whole recording lost. It always has the option to press triangle to save a screenshot, but it's pretty much 50/50 for me whether it'll let me save the video or lose it permanently.

Before the update it used to occasionally not save videos but you could always manually record and it would then always save the clip. Now, even manually recording doesn't seem to work half the time.

Does this happen on all games? Someone I know sort of had the same problem and he fixed it by deleting all the saved videos he had.

I can't guarantee it works though.
