http://www.roadtovr.com/project-cars-sony-morpheus-vr-headset-support-ps4/News Bits: Project Cars Announces Support for Sony’s Morpheus VR Headset
The forthcoming hardcore racing sim, Project Cars, was one of the titles originally rumored to support Sony’s Project Morpheus. Today it’s been announced officially that the game will support Sony’s PS4 VR headset alongside the Oculus Rift.
Prior to the Sony Morpheus VR headset reveal, sources had indicated to Road to VR that Project Cars would be one of the titles launching with Rift support. When Sony announced their GDC keynote session titled ‘Driving the Future of Innovation,’ it seemed like they were having a bit of fun by subtly acknowledging the rumors. And while the rumors that Sony would reveal the Morpheus VR headset at GDC 2014 turned out to be true, Project Cars was oddly absent from the announcement—some unconfirmed reports indicated that it was pulled due to simulator sickness.
Today on the official PlayStation blog, Project Cars developer, Slightly Mad Studios, announced that Project Cars will feature support for Sony’s Morpheus HMD on PS4.
"That’s right, Project CARS will be one of the first games on PS4 to support virtual reality via the Project Morpheus headset. Finally, you’re going to really feel what it’s like sitting in the driving seat of a high performance machine as you look around the cockpit, glance left and right as you overtake an opponent, and get an exhilarating sense of speed as you scream down the finishing straight."
Slightly Mad Studios’ Creative Director, Andy Tudor, says that we’ll see a special feature on Project Morpheus on the PlayStation blog in the coming months.
Project Cars is slated to launch in November, 2014 on every major console and on PC, where it will support the Oculus Rift.
Thx, work for the both thread.
Does it play well though?
Been playing on the ps4 for a few days now, really liking it, the most surprizing thing for me has to be the controller, i love the XB1 controller, but after the first 2 days i got used to the new PS4 controller and now it just feels natural, went back to the Xb1 today and didnt like the controller anymore, feels slippery, cheap... dont know how to describe... but evan the analog stick position doesnt bother me in this new ps4 controller(i hated that on the ps3).
All and all im really liking the ps4 everything feels more polished, lots of my friends migrated, might sell the xbox one in the near future.
PS4 1.7: DualShock 4 Battery Life Increase by Dimming the Light Measured for All Settings
With the release of the PS4 firmware update 1.7 the possibility of dimming the light of the DualShock 4 gave many the hope to increase the battery life of their controller, but just by how much does it increase?
Turns out, not by much. We measured it ourselves with three cycles from full charge to zero at “bright,” “medium” and “dim” settings. Vibration was kept off (or better, the system update turned it off for us) and the controller was left idle on the menu screen. In order to keep the variables even.
On “Bright” setting, the controller ran from 8:48 PM to 7:47 AM the morning after, clocking 10 hours and 59 minutes of battery life.
On “Medium” setting, the controller started its work at 5:25 PM and ran out of juice at 5:25 AM, for a total battery life of 11 hours and 42 minutes. 50 Minutes longer than the “Bright” setting.
On “Dim” Settin it ran from 9:41 AM to 10:02 PM, clocking 12 hours and 21 minutes of battery life. 81 minutes longer than the “Bright” setting.
In conclusion, while dimming the light does help a little bit, the benefit is really not that relevant. So if you’re doing it counting on much longer gaming hours, you might want to keep your expectations low.
Luckily it does reduce the glare on the screen considerably, so the feature is still quite useful for those sitting close to the screen.
