Sony PlayStation 4

So I got the official Sony 2.0 headphones today to replace my older Tritton ones. I have to say I really like them. It works well with the PS4 app, and I no longer have that 'hollow' sound the Tritton's Dolby reliever used to give out, or the mild hissing in the background. The Infamous Second Son setting from the app works really well. I can also use them with my Vita.

I'm also enjoying the new video editing and I'm really happy with PS Plus. Stick it to the Man is good fun and the Vita games this month are two I was intending to buy anyways. I sound like a right Sony fanboy but their services and products have bee brilliant this gen so far.

Nice. Sure is a nice feeling to invest in something these days and be chuffed with it.

Sure is. The headset is an odd one though it's so easy to set up but I had to google how to increase the volume beyond the buttons on huge set themselves. You have to create a party, go into party settings, and increase the game audio in there. Of top of that you also have similar buttons on the headset to increase the volume of the game in proportion to the chat volume. Strange.

News Bits: Project Cars Announces Support for Sony’s Morpheus VR Headset

The forthcoming hardcore racing sim, Project Cars, was one of the titles originally rumored to support Sony’s Project Morpheus. Today it’s been announced officially that the game will support Sony’s PS4 VR headset alongside the Oculus Rift.

Prior to the Sony Morpheus VR headset reveal, sources had indicated to Road to VR that Project Cars would be one of the titles launching with Rift support. When Sony announced their GDC keynote session titled ‘Driving the Future of Innovation,’ it seemed like they were having a bit of fun by subtly acknowledging the rumors. And while the rumors that Sony would reveal the Morpheus VR headset at GDC 2014 turned out to be true, Project Cars was oddly absent from the announcement—some unconfirmed reports indicated that it was pulled due to simulator sickness.

Today on the official PlayStation blog, Project Cars developer, Slightly Mad Studios, announced that Project Cars will feature support for Sony’s Morpheus HMD on PS4.

"That’s right, Project CARS will be one of the first games on PS4 to support virtual reality via the Project Morpheus headset. Finally, you’re going to really feel what it’s like sitting in the driving seat of a high performance machine as you look around the cockpit, glance left and right as you overtake an opponent, and get an exhilarating sense of speed as you scream down the finishing straight."

Slightly Mad Studios’ Creative Director, Andy Tudor, says that we’ll see a special feature on Project Morpheus on the PlayStation blog in the coming months.

Project Cars is slated to launch in November, 2014 on every major console and on PC, where it will support the Oculus Rift.

Downloaded Child of Light today. Love it, one of the prettiest games I've ever seen. Videos really, really don't do it justice.

I love Child of Light.

There are many Indy games in the last 3/4 years that are better than the vast majority of AAA titles.

Does it play well though?

Yeah I really enjoy it, but I think it might be a bit like marmite to some people. So far it's a bit of an odd mix of platform/exploration with RPG elements. It has turn-based combat, skill trees, levelling up, that kind of thing. It seems pretty solid gameplay wise, and has a decent story with beautiful graphics and audio. We'll worth eleven quid!

Anyone had to return a faulty ps4, how quick was the turn around?

Mine has blue pulsing light, no video display.

I bought from shopto, maybe they will collect

Enjoying infamous SS not the most spectacular game on earth but visually astounding the neon effect and the way you can traverse buildings locks you in. I am struggling to so playing

Been playing on the ps4 for a few days now, really liking it, the most surprizing thing for me has to be the controller, i love the XB1 controller, but after the first 2 days i got used to the new PS4 controller and now it just feels natural, went back to the Xb1 today and didnt like the controller anymore, feels slippery, cheap... dont know how to describe... but evan the analog stick position doesnt bother me in this new ps4 controller(i hated that on the ps3).

All and all im really liking the ps4 everything feels more polished, lots of my friends migrated, might sell the xbox one in the near future.

Anyone that doesn't like that game is clearly a bad human beign.

I'd never heard of it until recently. What actually is it?

I saw a eurogamer live play and it looked .... Shite basically. Some character floating around what look like Rayman levels. And I can't stand the Rayman games so it was an instant turn off

PS4 1.7: DualShock 4 Battery Life Increase by Dimming the Light Measured for All Settings

DualShock4-670x372.jpg

With the release of the PS4 firmware update 1.7 the possibility of dimming the light of the DualShock 4 gave many the hope to increase the battery life of their controller, but just by how much does it increase?

Turns out, not by much. We measured it ourselves with three cycles from full charge to zero at “bright,” “medium” and “dim” settings. Vibration was kept off (or better, the system update turned it off for us) and the controller was left idle on the menu screen. In order to keep the variables even.

On “Bright” setting, the controller ran from 8:48 PM to 7:47 AM the morning after, clocking 10 hours and 59 minutes of battery life.
On “Medium” setting, the controller started its work at 5:25 PM and ran out of juice at 5:25 AM, for a total battery life of 11 hours and 42 minutes. 50 Minutes longer than the “Bright” setting.
On “Dim” Settin it ran from 9:41 AM to 10:02 PM, clocking 12 hours and 21 minutes of battery life. 81 minutes longer than the “Bright” setting.

In conclusion, while dimming the light does help a little bit, the benefit is really not that relevant. So if you’re doing it counting on much longer gaming hours, you might want to keep your expectations low.

Luckily it does reduce the glare on the screen considerably, so the feature is still quite useful for those sitting close to the screen.

Uhm..

On “Medium” setting, the controller started its work at 5:25 PM and ran out of juice at 5:25 AM, for a total battery life of 11 hours and 42 minutes. 50 Minutes longer than the “Bright” setting.

Shouldn't that be 12 hrs exactly?

REALLY stupid question here, but for anyone who has the official Sony Wireless Gold (or 2.0 in the UK) headphones, are you meant to wear them with your ears kind of at the back of the cup? The driver just inside is very close to the cup pads and slants inwards towards the back of the ear - I presume you 'slot' the back of the ear into that space? I've never owned a pair of headphones where the driver slants away like that, so I put these on with my ears bang in the middle and after a while felt the drivers were actually pressing against my ear - very uncomfortable.

Yup, that's right, I just asked a question how to put headphones on. Dunce hat for me :EMB:
