Sony PlayStation 4

When I get round to it I'm gonna set up a Twitch or Ustream account and set to broadcast my games so my friends can see what I'm up to. It a a cool feature to be able to then join that game.

Anyone know which of these is best? And can you just limit the video streaming to friends only? Don't want the whole world to see how crap I am at FIFA :P

So, got it. Here is my story....

Got the boxed and unpacked it. Have to say I'm not surprised that consoles arrived faulty / damaged by transit as besides a couple of cardboard space dividers there really isn't anything to protect the console.

Anyway, set it all up and pressed on (which I had to go online for as I couldn't see the button) and the blue light started glowing...ooh ooohh, oh wait it's gone white now, yay! So starts up all well and good and the update pops up. Download please and I turn the tv back to normal channel while it downloads. Turn it back after a while and it seems stuck at download completed. Hmmm. Backed out again, restarted the update and that went fine. Download completed, update in progress. Great. Update finished, restart.

Restarts and again the blue light.....waiting......waiting......oh crap.....still waiting.....no response from the controller.....oh sh!t, please no!....time to go online. So I find the most common fixes and look for the simplest, which was turn off all power and update tv firmware.

Turned it off and updated tv. Restarted the ps4 and somehow ended up in safemode. Choose to restart the ps4 and it went blue again...oh god....oh, it's white again, yay!

So fixed, great....or is it? Now I have the issue that randomly I lose the picture connection to the tv for about 0,5 to 1 sec from time to time (probably once every 5 min.). After finishing a couple of friendlies on FIFA (looks like it will be really good) I go into settings and fix a couple of issues. Screen size was set to 72inch, mine is 42inch. This might have been the issue as when setting the view region, white corners to set the size and position of the ps4 display to correspond with your tv, it was off centre but in 42 it was perfect. Resolution was set to automatic, set it to fixed 1080p. RGB and Composite was set to automatic, I've set it to full range (My tv isn't even a year old and mid to high end). Essentially everything that was automatic I tried to set to fix as the signal cut-outs and the initial non start seems linked to the hdmi-tv handshake.

However I didn't have the time / energy to try it out after fixing the settings so will give it another go tonight. Couldn't find any issues like it online so that's annoying.

That's my story so far...

@ Max,

Did you sort out your disc noise issue? I had the same, installing fifa it sounded like the bad ol xbox days, yet after that it was silent. I suspect the noise issue will come back when I start playing KZ after reading your experiences.

Just came back from checking out 2 places and both were out of stock. Will be back on the hunt in a couple hours...

Played a couple of matches of Fifa after setting things up and playing around with the menus/apps, seems a pretty decent piece of kit, going to try connecting my SSHD with it now :)

Damn that sucks :(

Unfortunately my SSHD test didn't work out, realised once I took out the internal HDD of course that my SATA cables are female to female (lesbo) and to use cable from the PS4-SSHD I'd need a female to male cable (hetero) so ordered one of those as well as a gender converter (tranny):

Whichever of the two arrives first should in theory solve the problem :)

Fixed my final issue, intermittent screen blackouts. Plugged the hdmi cable to the 1st connection on the tv, it was in the 2nd, and turned on hdmi smartlink. Not sure if that last one changed anything, but now when I turn on the ps4 the tv automatically switches to the correct hdmi which is good. Yay.

Called 6 more stores. Same.

One of them told me they might get in a few tomorrow in the afternoon. I'll give them a call then to double check. Hopefully they do.

Damn :(

Have you checked everywhere? There might be stores that stock a few that you're not aware of.

I've checked almost every store in Istanbul but all Ps4 s were sold in less than 20 minutes.Actually it's very normal when you consider there are more than 75 million people in my country :))

I had one in my hands yesterday at Fred Myers and almost bought it, but resisted as there's really no good/must have games for it yet and would rather wait until all the hardware wrinkles are ironed out of the launch consoles. It was a tough decision though.

A workaround for playing movies/music on your PS4 if you're that desperate not wanting to wait for the official patch:

Play media files on your PS4!
This is not really the best solution but if your really desperate to play media on your PS4 you can follow this guide.

First, you'll need to setup an http server on your computer which will serve your PS4 the media files through the web browser. Next, copy this code into a blank document and save it as an html file on your http server.

Code:
<!doctype html>
<html>
  <head>
    <link href="http://vjs.zencdn.net/4.3.0/video-js.css" rel="stylesheet">
    <script src="http://vjs.zencdn.net/4.3.0/video.js"></script>
  </head>
  <body>
  <video id="vid1" class="video-js vjs-default-skin" controls preload="auto" width="640" height="360"
      data-setup='{}'>
    <source src="mymusic.mp3" type='audio/mpeg'>
	</video>
  </body>
</html>

Then simply link the media in the html and copy it into root of your http server. You can now play music or movies on your PS4 through the web browser! You can go here for the different mime types and replace audio/mpeg. Access the html file from your http server on your computer by entering the ip address/index.html or whatever you called the file. Have fun!

any of these webservers will do : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_web_server_software

if you do not want to install it on the computer but run from an usbstick instead, you can try these:
* http://www.server2go-web.de/
* http://www.uwamp.com/en/
* http://www.uniformserver.com/

Not going to source this for obvious reasons. Since it's legit I posted it for the desperate ones.

Struggling to get used to the controller, prefer the way the 360 one has the left stick high and the right stick low, if nothing else at least it means I can avoid world class on Fifa for now! :)

Is out there any adapter that suit xbox 360 controller on ps4? Cause i'm fan of that controller too and i'm planning to buy ps4 next year.

And i just found this intreresting video:
