Sony PlayStation 3

I have tried it on SDTV and unfortunately it looks really bad, the 360 when I try it on SDTV looks pretty good, but the PS3 looks bad, but I have heard that forthcoming update will sort out this issue.

The controller it is almost the same size as the PS2 controller but definately much lighter, Holio I think the Saxaxis will work and the concept of the controller is very good but like most things with the PS3 at the moment they are all potential and once developers get to grips with the machinary then things will work very well. On a side issue the Blue Ray movie playback on my HDTV is absolutely awesome, the picture quality and sound output are stunningly beautiful.

This will be the first PlayStation I won't buy. Microsoft have cracked it this time - I really don't see why people would pay nearly £450 for a GAMES CONSOLE!

Sony are being a bit hush hush about releasing a fix for the problems with non-720p compatible TVs (the PS3 will only upscale from 480p from these) so it's difficult to say whether SDTVs are a priority for them. I would have thought so as the majority of users will have SDTVs though...

My impressions I'm getting of the PS3 is the same I've had when the PS2 came out when I had the Dreamcast. The DC was v fun but I had to go with the PS2 after the adverts of GT3 and that it had a DVD player. IMO, the PS2 wasn't as enjoyable as the DC overall and I definitely regretted selling the DC (+all those games!).

I can't compare the 360 to the DC yet as there ain't that much variety in the games. But I don't think I'll be repeating the same mistake (as I had done with the DC) again tbh as long as MS can get some more interesting games for it.

I disagree, I had a 360 and hated it, not quite a year but enough time to relies I am not going to get much out of it and sold it because I wanted to get as much for it before the release of the PS3.

I have seen a few games that I would love to play but never enough to warrant buying a new one until its only worth a lot less.

The PS3 will however have a great selection of games in the first year, unlike the 360 enough to keep you going for a second year. The price tag is high but so is the price of a HDTV compared to a SDTV. You pay for what you get and the PS3 is not going to fail IMO.

Spot on Cloud1863.

I must say I fallen in love with the looks of the PS3 more than anything else about it. You dont realise how amazing it is until you actually see one infront of you.

The pad is starting to annoy me though. Its just far too light. I came back from my mates after playing some PES6 masterleague on his PS2 and picked up the sixaxis. Apart from the triggers, the DS2 is much nicer to hold.

I'm seriously struggling to wait until March (possibly April, dependant on when the second shipment comes into our Gamestation).

The console itself looks great, the games (regardless of launch quality) look great, and I have my HDTV all ready and primed for PS3, but I've gotta wait four/five months!

I hate the thought that I could've got a lot more games at Christmas, after launch title games >(

Why are you struggling? It's uber-expensive and has no game that's a must-buy. At least the Wii has Zelda, which going by the initial reception is possibly one of the greatest games ever created. Resistance and Motorstorm hardly inspire the same excitement, you just want it because it's shiny, it's new and not many other folk will have it ;).

Very good point. the Ps3 is a console you wait to buy until you can pick from avery good library and maybe get it foe 100 bucks cheaper but who knows what 100 bucks cheaper is in the future?

What store and how much? Did they have any HD-DVD players there as well?

When you walk past the Dominion theatre, one of the small electronic shops has a sign saying 'SELLING PS3'. I'm guessing they're gunna be priced over 500 pounds. Some stores have Blu-Ray players which are over 800 pounds too. Not sure about HD-DVD.

Cool, I'll check it out before the Xmas rush. I also found out that a mates uncle is selling the Jap 60GB for £900....whether or not that is a good thing I'm not sure. I feel so tempted..NOT.

I watched one of the videos for it, motorstorm, on gametrailers and it looked like fun, moreso for multiplayer. Single player it wont last long imo, fun for a quick race but not much more then that.

PSXshop in NL is selling a 60gb jap version for 899euro's, cheaper then 900 pounds ;)

I for one, want Resistance and Motorstorm, I think they look like great games. It's also got a lot of good features, and yes it's shiny and therefore it looks brilliant. I'm liking the possible connectivity with the PSP as well.

And as for Zelda, I hate that fucking series. It's not fun at all, it's in fact mind numblingly boring. Plus I don't care for that useless controller that makes you look like a twat whilst playing it, hurts your arms, and then flies out of your window. At least the PS3 is actually next gen, the Wii isn't much of a step on from the GameCube, which IMO looks better and has a better controller.

I've always been a Playstation fan, I always will be. I admit that it is a big ask for people to spend so much money on what they basically view as a games console, but if you take into account all of the features it has, and the potential for the future, its worth a lot more than Sony are charging for it. And there are plenty of titles that I want to play from the launch.

Views from the side and behind cars crashing how can that be in game and if it is who's driving your car while you look at these pretty scenes at best there paused replays.

10.jpg

How can that view be ingame as your car careers off the track lol

Just like the early Adriano pics were supposed next gen in game PES shots the views were all wrong.

when paused or during replays the game lets move the camera around freely. u can move it anywhere including places like under the cars. plus paused replays = ingame...
