S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2

I honestly don't know what did yall disappointed bunch expect..
These days games take few patches before they are playable. This is not STALKER problem - it's every game problem.
For the last 4/5 years all the big games releases are fucked. Cyberpunk, MS Flight Sim, Starfield to name a few.

Every single big release I remember was in a state where it should not have been released.

On top of that - this game was developed with war around developers.

Also if the media have convinced you that the whole Ukraine is a brutal warzone it's not my fault.
You don't need to be sitting under rubble for this to have an effect on you. When your country in invaded and your friends and family are dying - it will have an effect on you and your work regardless where you are.
And if you're a soulless cunt that can't understand it - maybe shut you damn mouth before you say stuff like this.

Edit:
this fucking annoyed me so much I can't just leave it like this.
I have Ukrainian guy at work, who is living in Ireland for donkeys years. He came here way before the invasion started. We would often find him crying in the room when he is alone.
His family is in Odessa, which is on the opposite side of the country. Almost as far as it gets. And they still are being shelled from time to time.
How fucking dare you saying media is making us believe something!!
Take your fucking tin foil hat and fuck off.

I combined my first 6 hours of footage. I'm enjoying it. Yes, it has a few issues but the important parts of the game story, plot, atmosphere, general gameplay work well.

The more i play it, the more i enjoy it.

Next comming week there will be an first big update comming out.

For my opinion it is one of the greatest games of 2024. And GSC game world will fix bugs in the future, because they are one of the small group of devs whome love his own game.

PS: I made the user "fear" on my ignore list. It seems it is a good place for him.

And please do attention to don't talk to much about god damn politics. I can only talk for myself, but I really do enjoy this game maybe some ukrainians too. It is a good way to distract yourself from bad and sad thoughts.

I do really love this game!

I haven’t played a shooter for years and this one seems to be a good choice for a comeback. I like the overall mood, just played a bit of the beginning.

i played the first game but what it this?
No dynamic shadows and what are these face textures? Man this looks like UE3 face, who did this texture?
Most times game is way too bright where normally no light is, its still bright.

For me i am very disapointed of the graphics at all

characters looking so terrible

Just this special atmosphere that only few games nail

I found an guitar in the first village. Something with Zalliski or so. I really recommend to try to do the same and play guitar.
The implementation of the guitar is so fckng great, really love it. You can creat your own songs or cover real ones. I wait til there will be some good ones to find on YT.

Still 1.03 released but had some trouble with my performance on exsactly the same village after playing around 10hours the game. It lags a bit and I hope the devs will find out a way to fix this. On other places around the map I don't have such problems.

Also love it really to sitting with other STALKER's around a campfire and they tell funny storys/jokes. I really laugh about some.

PS: I wished the real life day would have more than 24 hours, so I had more freetime to play the game. I love it! 😘

I know Chornobyl is a extrem
maxresdefault.jpg
But found a bug in which a NPC move around and did this. 😁
Was this NPC so extrem scared?
But maybe it is fixed since today, because today was a another update.

so how is are the following things in latest Version, compared to first released Version (PC) :

Gunplay
Stealth
Shotgun Sniper NPCs
NPC overall behaviour

The game is super addictive, and I’ve been going through withdrawal since last night. 140 hours of playtime on Steam.

I don’t know what’s causing it or what I can do about it.

But right now I’m getting about 5 to 10 fps. It’s unplayable, unfortunately.

It happened at a point I wanted to replay—I won’t spoil where or why here.
So I reloaded a slightly older save file to try going through it a different way.

I scoured the internet, tried mods, uninstalled and reinstalled the game several times, ran a diagnostic check on the game in Steam, turned my computer off and on again several times, tried another PC with the game and the same save file, and restarted the story with a different save file (strangely enough, that worked fine, but I didn’t feel like starting completely from scratch again)—nothing helped.

From what I’ve gathered, there was apparently a bug like this about a year ago. But it seems to have been fixed since then.

I ended up starting the story from the beginning after all. To this day, I still don’t really know what caused the problem.

And on my second playthrough, I’ve actually noticed quite a few differences in certain parts of the story.

The first DLC is due to be released this summer.

Oh yeah, f*** Faust, f*** the guards. :D

The first DLC and Update 2.0 have been out for a week now.

The update is really great so far and has improved quite a few things. I’ve had two CTDs so far, but I’m not sure if it might have been a Windows issue, since that’s apparently what caused one of the most recent crashes.

The DLC itself was okay. I say “okay” because I had real trouble with two quests and was on the verge of giving up. Not because of technical issues or anything like that.

I’ll try to describe what I mean in a bit more detail in a spoiler.

In any case, two new areas were added: Iron Forest and the CNPP—that is, the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant.

At first, I was really curious and could hardly wait to get to the nuclear power plant.

When I finally got there, I was simply overwhelmed, speechless, frightened, crushed, and more on edge than I’d ever been in a video game before.

It started with me being completely disoriented. I went into a building (maybe an administrative building or something) to reach my quest objective, but I just couldn’t find my way. But sometimes you just can’t see the forest for the trees.

Somehow, I managed to make it through a multitude of anomalies, bloodsuckers, and other mutants—past the Golden Corridor, a control room, and a reactor—to reach my destination.

SPOILER

What I'm trying to say is that two quests in the DLC, in particular, almost pushed me to my mental breaking point for different reasons. And I just wanted to get out of those quests. But they just kept going on and on.
Basically, you generally have to choose between two factions, each with a main character, who are at “war” with each other. At first they’re working together, but by the end they’re fighting each other.

What also annoyed me a bit was that I feel there are quite a few moments where you have to climb somewhere or up a structure. At times I found myself thinking, “Are you in Assassin’s Creed now, or are you still in Stalker 2?”

I don’t remember the names of the quests off the top of my head, though. One was definitely at that research facility, Sircaa or whatever it’s called, and the second one was sometime shortly after that. [Direct spoiler: Zulu from Duty gives you a quest.]
In any case, I often found myself wondering, “What the hell is going on here?” I mean, someone—or several developers—must have created the level design and the story, along with everything that goes with it, somehow.

So don’t get me wrong, I like GSC Game World and their developers, and I’d say for myself that I can at least understand the situation they’re in. And I have the utmost respect for them.

But at least this one quest—it was just pure madness. Not in a good way, though. It was basically a quest designed to drive you crazy, especially since in some situations you overhear NPCs’ conversations via PDA, for example, where exactly the same thing happens to them.

For example: two rooms, both with locked doors in front of you—let’s call them Room 1 and Room 2. After some trial and error, you manage to figure out how to open the door to Room 1. But that opens the door to Room 2, and when you enter it, you finally find a way to open the door to Room 1.

Then it’s basically like being in a maze, or you feel like you’re just running in circles the whole time and not getting anywhere. Which is actually the case if you’re not careful. And you can’t just get out of there, because it’s probably a separate area of the map—so not an open world, but more of a linear level. You can’t go back either, because this part of the map apparently changes in some way as the quest progresses.

Of course, I don’t know if I’m right about this, but the only way I could explain it to myself is that in such a situation—war, terror, death threats, professional and/or personal stress, the loss of people you love, know, or are connected to in any way—the human soul might develop in this way, and you become numb.

And during another quest later on, I was asked to please climb onto the roof of Block 4. If I’m interpreting this correctly, that’s the roof between Reactor 3 and Reactor 4. I think Reactor 3 was the one that exploded.

Once again, I was speechless and completely stunned. For several hours, I didn’t dare go up there. Because, for example, I remembered the short series (from HBO, I think) where they said you could only stay there for a maximum of 90 seconds. It’s also possible that I’m mixing some things up here.

I had quit the game for a while, but eventually I did work up the courage to go up there.

When I got there, the same thoughts came back: “Oh my God!” (if I remember correctly, that was during this quest.) There were a lot of relatively large pieces of graphite lying around, just like you see in documentaries or the TV series I mentioned.

But what can I say—in the end, the radiation dose (except maybe in the reactor room I mentioned earlier) wasn’t necessarily dangerous for the character you’re playing in a more or less fictional video game. So with good gear and maybe one or two artifacts that block radiation, it’s actually no problem.

All in all, I don’t regret buying it or playing it.

Something else I’d like to mention is that Stalker 2 and now the “Cost of Hope” DLC are the only single-player games or DLCs I’ve played all the way through in years. No single-player game has captivated me as much as Stalker 2 in years!

So thank you, GSC Game World, for these incredible moments—those “wow” moments, or even “oh my God” moments—that I probably won’t forget for a long time.

I’ve now clocked nearly 370 hours on Steam.

I’m already looking forward to everything that’s still to come!
