Excellent posts, cheers mate :TU:

Those ion drums look interesting, I wonder if Europe will even see them released over here.

Listened to "Pearl Jam - Ten" this morning to see which song Black was. CANNOT WAIT for that song! Up there with my favourite tracks on the album, maybe even the best.

Re: Rock Band - Harmonix, (360 / PS3)

Konami has filed a lawsuit against Harmonix, MTV and Viacom, claiming music game Rock Band infringes on its patents.

As reported by Bloomberg, Konami is referring to patents issued in 2002 and 2003. These refer to a "musical rhythm-matching game" and musical instrument peripherals.

Konami wants cash compensation, plus an order preventing Viacom and Harmonix from "using its inventions", as the article puts it. The companies named in the suit have yet to comment.

Meanwhile, Konami is working on Rock Revolution - a peripheral-based music game in development for PS3, Xbox 360, Wii and DS. As reported in May, it'll come with a guitar and drum kit, and according to Bloomberg will be out later this year.

Re: Rock Band - Harmonix, (360 / PS3)

The cheapest i found was on ebay for £140 i think and then i had to pay for the delivery from london to liverpool and a handling fee which was about £35 so £175

That was back in February though so i was happy paying a bit more than i had hoped as i knew id have it a few months before the EU release... oh how wrong i was.

Re: Rock Band - Harmonix, (360 / PS3)

Downloaded the two RHCP songs last night, played Snow and loved it :)) It's really repetitive though, ended up losing concentration and missed a couple of notes because I just went into autopilot

 I hope Konami get well and truly ripped off as they have been ripping us off for years with PES/WE :)).

I downloaded the RCHP yesterday, played Tell Me Baby on Expert and got 37% of the way through then got booed off!

Pearl Jam are my favourite band of all time, and I know the songs will be great to play

Re: Rock Band 2

Can't say I've liked much of their other stuff besides Vs and Ten to be honest :((

Not even 'Better Man' on Vitalogy or 'Thin Air', 'Nothing as it Seems', 'Insignificance' and 'Breakerfall' on Binaural? Seriously give them a second listen, Binaural is a fantastic album on it's own.

Argghh there's too many songs I like

I'm praying for a bigger Iron Maiden pack for DLC . Iron Maiden are always fun to play within a band.

Oh and not to mention Pantera. Now that would rock.

Vitalogy was average, didn't think much of it. Thought Binaural was pretty poor and I remember taking that back to the shop and swapping it because I hated it.

I'll give them another listen over the weekend tho :TU:

Think Pearl Jam are about the only band who's albums (I've got anyway) are always decent.

I didnt like Vitalogy when I first got it years ago, but now as I've matured, I really appreciate it. "Not For You", "Corduroy", "Last Exit", "Whipping" - all brilliant and of course "Immortality".

Surely RB can get some of these albums out on RB?! Ten or VS would be amazing. Wasnt "Even Flow" on GH3?

Totally agree pboreham

I think if they do release any DLC for Pearl Jam it will most likely be those albums. 'Alive' would be a good bet, 'Even Flow' (if they are aloud) 'Black', 'Jeremy', 'Daughter', 'Rearviewmirror' are most likely the songs that will be released.

They have a point to be fair - especially if they did patent it. Guitar Freaks and Drum Mania (and Keyboard Mania) were around in Japanese arcades and for PS2 long before the original GH came along.

Only thing is why they've left it so long! Shame their own new game looks shite.

I really, really liked the Konami games though. The quirky J-Pop was ace (especially a song called 'Newspaper' which was a blast to play) and then they threw in some modern songs like "You Outta Know", "Bad Medecine" and "Wild Thing" which was cool.

I imported both games from Japan for the PS2 - the peripherals were pretty cack though. I had a 3rd party guitar and it was terrible - the original arcade peripheral was something mad like $150 on its own.

Anyway.... this weeks DLC is The Who album isnt it? Wonder if HMX will chuck in some extras like they did when we knew Pixies was coming...? Dont have to wait long...

EDIT: HMX devs have replied on their forum saying 'no other announcements today'... so The Who it is. Baba O'Reilly mania next week!

YIKES
Ion reveals $299.99 price for premium Rock Band drums
drumrocker2.jpg

Thought $180 for the original Rock Band package was expensive? You ain't seen nothing yet. The official Web site for Ion's professional Drum Rocker (as recently revealed in Game Informer) lists a $299.99 price for the deluxe drum controller. Only the Xbox 360 version of the set is currently available for pre-order, though Wii and PS3 editions are "expected to ship later in the year," according to the site. It's important to note that this is not the official drum set that will be packaged with Rock Band 2, but rather an officially licensed deluxe set that works with both Rock Band games.

While $300 may sound steep (soon, you could get a whole 'nother Xbox 360 for that price), Ion sounds like they've gone to great lengths to make sure serious virtual drummers get their money's worth. According to the site, the four high-durability, quiet, velocity-sensitive pads can be mounted and rearranged in any position and even outfitted with "professional drum brains" from Alesis. Add in a metal-reinforced kick pedal (with velcro and spikes to prevent slippage) and two packaged, mountable cymbals (with the option to add a third) and you've got what's unquestionably the Rolls Royce of drum controllers.

The web site also has a short video and some detailed photos of the set, so check it out and figure out for yourself whether it's worth dropping three Benjamins.

Re: Rock Band 2

Yep but I'm not paying £200 just for a toy drumset, crazy price.

Re: Rock Band 2

Hardly real drums either. Unless you REALLY enjoyed playing drums for real, I can't see someone paying £200 for the limited edition drums to be honest.

Whilst obviously 'not a toy' these do double up as a real electronic drum kit, so if (like me) you were getting interested in buying an electronic kit, this one doubles up nicely.

Like with DrumMania on the PS2, you could plug in a Yamaha USB kit and it would be enabled in-game.

Depending on price, I may get the ION kit for use with my RB games and also as a stand-alone kit to learn playing 'real' drums on...

Re: Rock Band 2

Dunno - maybe. I have been looking in the last few months for electronic kits on Ebay and found some starter ones for around £100 - but to combine a real set and get rid of my old RB ones would be tempting.

Hmmm... dunno, it is alot for something I might not get into! We'll see how being self-employed goes for the next few months and I might treat myself at the end of the year!
