Rock Band Thread

Re: Rock Band 2

The Internet has spotted what appears to be a tracklisting for Rock Band 2.

Among the songs making the cut are "Pinball Wizard" by The Who, "Kids In America" by Kim Wilde, "Give It Away" by Red Hot Chili Peppers and "Ace of Spades" by Motorhead.

Word comes from the ScoreHero forum (spotted by Kotaku), where members froze a video preview of Rock Band 2 on X-Play and uploaded a capture of the in-game music store.

We can't be sure it's genuine, or that the tracks will actually make it into the finished game. Usually we reach down and feel for authentication.

Rock Band 2 was unveiled yesterday and offers fancier instruments as well as cross-compatible downloadable songs, which means you can transfer your DLC from the original to the sequel or the other way around.

Developer Harmonix has also taken on board all of your feedback in order to make parties and online games much more fun this time around.

Rock Band 2 is due out for Xbox 360 in North America this September, with other platforms "to follow". Distributor EA is yet to set a European date.

Re: Rock Band 2

i suspect the timed exclusive is also so the EU can't import again and save money

Re: Rock Band 2

Judged on those first four rumoured songs on RB2 I'll be sticking with RB1 :)

I thought I read in one of the interviews or previews that they were looking at adding more modern music? I have no interest whatsoever in any of those songs, I know other people will but as a gamer in the most common age bracket I look at that and think "no thanks".

Re: Rock Band 2

From the screen grabs on Score Hero - here are some more that I remember...

Chop Suey - System of a Down
You Learn - Alanis Morrisette
Everlong - Foos

If the rumours are true, we're looking at 200 songs ON DISK for RB2...

Re: Rock Band 2

Foo Fighters... Crap, that means I have to get it.

I still don't see the need though. I mean, if you divide 200 (songs) by 40 (quid), that means they're making £5 per song. Why not just release these "super-duper-amazing" songs via DLC for £5 each and save the hassle?

LOL...no, that works out at 20p a song!!

£5 a song would make the game a grand!

Re: Rock Band 2

Oh yeah. Maths was never my strong point. 8-[

I would just so much rather see these songs up for sale at ridiculous prices than buy a new disc or new instruments. It's just the hassle of it all.

Re: Rock Band 2

I'll buy it just for Everlong. I was going to buy GH4 just for that song (as long as a patch came out to use the RB instruments).

Re: Rock Band 2

Argh more fucking money to spend. They are ripping us off, but were all gonna still buy it!

Re: Rock Band 2

A thread over on the ScoreHero forums - since wiped clean by moderators amidst talk of NDA violations - has listed a few more songs that are apparently due to appear in Rock Band's upcoming sequel. The list continues the theme established by the first set of leaked tracks, that theme being one of awesomeness. Amongst the artists mentioned are Rage Against the Machine (Testify), Soundgarden (Spoonman), Alice in Chains (Man In The Box) and...please ensure you're in a seated position...Megadeth's Peace Sells.

The full list of supposed leaked songs (obviously still only a fraction of the game's total) contains a couple you may have heard whispered about before, but here it is anyway:

"One Step Closer" by Linkin Park
"Peace Sells" by Megadeth
"Testify" by Rage Against The Machine
"American Woman" by The Guess Who
"White Wedding" by Billy Idol
"You Oughta Know" by Allanis Morrisette
"Aqua Lung" by Jethro Tull
"Bad Reputation" by Joan Jett
"Drain You" by Nirvana
"Man in the Box" by Alice In Chains
"Spoonman" by Soundgarden
"We Got The Beat" by the Go-Gos

If legit, our brains won't be able to repel greatness of this magnitude.

Re: Rock Band 2

I cant see Everlong being on both GH4 and RB2, but shall wait and see.

Re: Rock Band - Harmonix, (360 / PS3)

Hey Everybody,

Coming at you a day early with the announce as we are closing the office tomorrow and celebrating our independence from something or other (something about a tea party in there too). What do we have for you? How about two tracks from the Red Hot Chili Peppers? That not good enough for you? How about two songs by the one band most people seem to be able to agree upon, Rush? What if I told you they were both masters? Yes, one of the songs is "Working Man" which we have put out as a DLC cover a few months back. This version (the Vault Edition), however, is an alternate-take master from the same session they recorded the hit with an alternate solo. It has never been released. Some days it is really amazing to have this job. Seriously.

Release Date

Tuesday, July 8th (Xbox 360 Marketplace)

Thursday, July 10th (Playstation Store)

TRACKS

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Snow (Hey Oh)

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Tell Me Baby

Rush - Closer to the Heart

Rush - Working Man (Vault Edition) alternate-take master

All tracks are masters

PRICE:

All tracks are $1.99 (160 Microsoft Points).

DEFINATELY getting the RHCP songs, I love Snow!

Re: Rock Band - Harmonix, (360 / PS3)

more rush woooo

dont like chilli peppers much

Re: Rock Band - Harmonix, (360 / PS3)

not sure about the Rush tracks, a master of dlc we already have and an unreleased (because it's crap?) track

Re: Rock Band 2

Yep, it's "When You Were Young".

Both games also have "The Police - Message In A Bottle" and I'm sure there's a couple more.

and... Mississippi Queen, Paranoid, Reptilia.

Ta lads, I didnt realise that, but then I never looked into the Rock Band track listing too deeply. Just thought it very weird that both games had the same songs, and wondering if it will become rarer as each company tries to sign bands to exclusive deals.

Re: Rock Band 2

And with the millions of songs that exist they can make the effort to provide new ones.

Re: Rock Band 2

Modest Mouse are on it! Awesome!

If someone was to hazard a guess at the release date on the PS3 - Crimbo 2008?

Re: Rock Band 2

There are differing leaks out there regarding the track list for Rock Band 2. Both are unattributed, one to a friend of a friend who got a look at an email from Harmonix to MTV or something. But in the interest of rumormongering, we'll repeat both with the caveat that there is no way of knowing if this stuff is for real or not. But if, combined, they're half right then this could be one hell of a track list, possibly the best of any rhythm game.

Also, an IGN Insider interview (transcript provided by reader Max) let slip that buyers of Rock Band 2 will have access to all of the songs off the original Rock Band disc, available as free DLC. Full details on both after the jump.

Says IGN 360 editor Nate Ahern:

Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero World Tour create an interesting situation for gamers. If you bought Rock Band 1 then chances are you'll feel cheated by the release of RB2, thus you'd think that GHWT would be the way to go as it somewhat redefines the music gaming genre. However, if you didn't buy the first Rock Band then I would absolutely agree with notagoth. Immediately upon purchasing Rock Band 2 you'll have the ability to download a huge library of songs, as well as all of the songs off of the original disc as a free download. Then again, Guitar Hero World Tour does allow users to create and share their own songs, so it's really only a matter of time until the Rock Band library is eclipsed. At the end of the day it could come down to which series has earned your allegiance over the last year since RB's original release."

And on to the leaked track lists. The first is from Demp, a commenter on 8bitfix, and he's got the FOAF who saw the email source. That's like fourth-hand hearsay, but whatever, this ain't court.
