Real Madrid Thread

Looking at tonight from the single game perspective than Real Madrid should be dissapointed with the first leg tactics. they gave Barcelona a game tonight.

Well, in "normal conditions" with the tactic Madrid used at home the game would have ended 0-0 so 1-1 today and Real would went through.

Oh please, Barcelona didn't even try to score today, they just played of time.

Madrid looks like school girls. Barcelona put high pressure and Madrid can't pass the ball around at all.

Mou is a defensive style, almost like MUTD . Difference is MUTD can do the looong ball very well mixed w/ speed something Barca might not see coming.

Congrats to Madrid fans for playing a much better game tonight. It wasn't enough to go on, but after 6 years out of europe elite, I think you're now one of the big favorites to be there in the next few years. With Di Maria, Ronaldo and Ozil you have a great project that will win a lot more trophies.

You only need someone like Pellegrini in the bench. Really, I think Pellegrini with this squad would have been a lot more brave tha Mou and could have gotten a better result. I think Mou is to blame not only tactically but also because he's been obsessed in turning this round in a battle. And trying to create a big battle and play mindtricks, he forgot about football.

I think all Madrid needs is a coach that forgets about mindtricks, gamesmanship and everything that is not football. With the players you have, you could play a lot more offensive and be even more dangerous.

Going in the direction Mou is taking this club is a big mistake. You may win some title, but in the way you'll loose too much. Bring Michel Gonzalez or someone who loves the club, not himself, and I think you will rocket very high.

I don't think Madrid played that well. How many saves did Valdes actually have to make? 1? 2? Apart from the goal, they barely had actual shots on net.

But sure, at least the starting formation was more attacking (And let's face it, it HAS TO BE if you're losing 2-0) and didn't have 3 DMF's and Pepe playing midfield with Di Maria and Ronaldo as strikers.

Disappointing still to not see Benzema come on even in final 20 minutes though and with Real needing a goal badly. Adebayor just came on and committed 5-6 fouls. And at that point, he should've had both of them on. Karim can always make a difference with individual quality on his won, just like Ronaldo or Di Maria or Messi... so it's a player you want on the pitch when you have nothing to lose and MUST score! Look what he did to old club Lyon as soon as he was introduced to the game at a crucial and tense time in 1st leg vs. Lyon....

Lassana Diarra played very well. Sure, in 2nd half, he ultimately commited 4-5 fouls but it's impossible NOT to foul guys like Messi, Iniesta when you're playing against them and overall, he made a LOT of good contributions, tackles, interceptions and made the day a lot tougher for Messi and Co.

Casillas another great game! LEGEND!! Valdes will never be Casillas even though he's much improved and that's the ONE thing Barca will always envy Madridistas for.

I think Mourinho will look back and regret playing so negatively at home.

Yep. I blame Mourinho for the CL Elimination. He made lots of mistakes and Real should've had a bigger chance. But now clearly the best team went through.

Maybe Madrid should think you can´t just build a team that beat´s barca system over a year...Madrid fans need patience... but with Perez on top of the club i realy doubt you chainge your phylosophy...and i expect another money throw in summer...but the thing is, Barca are having amazing B team already...who are i belive ready to jump in first team and play immediately the same system... this is what Madrid lacks..yes, they make talent, but rarely for their own team...

about Mourinho, he should have stayed at Inter, i know he loves challenge, but i don´t enjoy to watch Real myself since he came..even with Pellegrini it was on better way, just you sacked him...

With Inter, some of the matches they played in the league were so undeserved or boring. All their best performances last season came in the big games and after the round of 16 of the CL. His winning formula was getting the players in the right mind set. I have a feeling that he might have lost it a little because everyone expects it from him and his players, so he has to be more extreme about it, which resulted in last week's 0-2.

Bielsa is coming in and you'll see a positive 3-3-3-1.

A team that attacks Barca stands a much better chance of winning than just sitting back and letting them pass it around.

Take their fullbacks the opposite way. Press high up the pitch. Stick on two forwards instead of an extra DM.

Unfortunately the way Mourinho carries on is risk free results football which is symptomatic of the modern game. The sort of thing whch does blight finals and the WC.

Bielsa would be a fantastic coach for Real, moe-rinho is good for Chelsea, Inter, but not for Real. Real has a fantastic history, it has most cups than any team in the world. And they have a reputation to be a winner team and also to play the best, and with moe-rinho tactics will betray their own history. Bielsa, Rijkaard would be coaches that would give back the Real's role that should have, offensive and playing a great football, they have the money to buy the best players, so no problem with that.

And also i think Real is getting hated just cos mor-rinho and thats not good too, get Bielsa and things will change and La Liga may back to Madrid and get more fans over the world.

True.

Thing is if only winning mattered which isn't even happening right now then why did Capello get sacked? Why was Del Bosque let go of?

Mourinho fits Real Madrid because he's a "Celebrity" Coach, a Galactico of a manager. The best person for the job could be someone completely different but they don't possess the "name" to last in the job like Mourinho does, I think 95% of coaches would be getting sacked from Real Madrid after this year I don't think he will.

Perez who lives in an alternate reality where solid management and teamwork counts less than celebrity footballers.

We saw it to an extent yesterday where the glamourous Kaka was employed despite being over the hill instead of Ozil.

He and Mourinho are dragging Real Madrid's name in the dirt.

And as for that gif. Leo is a naughty little boy.....:LMAO:

Ronaldo gets four tonight to make it 33 goals in 31 league games this season, and 59 in 60 league games since he joined Madrid. Unbelievable statistics. Could have had two more as I type as well.

On a side note, La Liga is an absolute joke. Barely more competitive than the Scottish league really, how anyone can say it's better than EPL, Bundesliga, Seria A, etc I'm not sure.

Think Ronnie is leading top scorer in League. Messi has what 52 ? and Ronnie 46 in ALL competition . Ludicrous!!!! Ronnie has done this in the PL too. He just needs to do this on National team level Messi too.

Real and Barcelona are just too strong. We know that Barcelona are unmatched nowadays in Europe and Real showed in the CL that they are a step ahead of most top teams like Milan,Tottenham, and Lyon. Imagine players like VDV,Sneijder,Robben,Yaya Toure,Ibrahimovic, and Eto'o who were not wanted by Real and Barcelona are now the best players in their current teams.

Put them in any league and they will fight each other for the top spot. Unfortunately, the gap is getting bigger with the other Spanish teams. Salary cap will be a step in the right direction.

Crazy! And the fact that they are getting these high numbers in the CL also shows how strong Real and Barcelona are.

La Liga was too good back in days when you had the likes of Athletic Bilbao, Atlético de Madrid, Deportivo, Real Sociedad and Valencia challenging for the title. Nowadays, Spanish League is kind an update of Scottish League but you still have very good teams fighting for European titles, as Villareal demonstrated this year in Europa League or Atlético winning the previous competitions. I agree with Zeem in this one, the problem is the gap between the Big Two and the other teams.

It's the revenues they can generate compared to the other sides which means that gap will be maintained.

In the long run it is not good for the competitiveness of Spanish teams in Europe in one way ie the European competition will be tougher though in an another aspect they can relax their commitments in the domestic league and focus more on those CL requirements.

And it may not be all doom and gloom as many sides are developing their academies of which Bilbao for instance have a very good one which is producing as one way to compete.

However the big two if needs be can afford to splash out on a superstar or two to maintain their grip.

Perhaps if club debts were brought in by the banks then that gap would disappear pretty quickly.

10 mill! What a steal. Real are becoming smart spenders now?

Hope he gets a chance to prove his worth though. This might mean Lass,Gago, and Granero are on the way out or Mourinho will switch to a 4 midfield formation instead of 3.

I'm pretty sure Gago is leaving but Lass will probably stay and Granero might go out on loan (despite no longer being so young) though I would keep him personally as last choice and home-grown (Academy - Cantera) player to provide further depth.

As for the price, that is good but I think it's only so cheap because his contract was coming to a close next season or something and he wasn't gonna renew. Something like that.

I think it's a very good signing, though we must wait and see his performance in a big team. Real has too much players for that position, anyway, so I can see Gago and another one going out after this.

Does that mean Jose's planning to play without an out and out ball-winner next season?

Or is Sahin going to be Alonso's understudy?
