Real Madrid Thread

It wasn't? Well if you call 2 Champions League titles and 2 ligas wasn't success i don't know what success is. Well they sure didn't win every single title they were on but still saying they were not successful is wrong in my point of view.

When did they win these 2 Champions League's? They won 1 in 01/02. Then they failed to get past the last 16 evertime (including this season). They only managed the La Liga once aswell in 02/03. Wasn't a success at all.

th perez\galacticos era began in july 2000 (when don florentino came in charge and signed figo, who was the frist "galactico") and ended in july 2006 (when calderon took the presidency).
6 seasons... from the 2000/2001 season to the 2005/2006.

in those 6 years they won la liga twice, reached the 2nd spot twice and then got a 3rd and even a 4th spot.
as for the champions league, they won it once, reached the semi finals once, the quarters finals once.... and for 2 times they didn't even reach the quarters final.

not really a succesful period for such a glorious and ambitious club.

the team aswell wasn't really that great. they had an awesome offensive setup, but in their own midfield they were pretty average (actually that's an understatement). as soon as hierro left, the defensive line became extremely jerky. for a couple of years makelele and (after makelele) cambiasso saved the day, but florentino was so unbelievably stupid to let both of em leave, and this deprived the merengues of any sort of filter and geometry at midfield.

football-wise (despite the high quality offense) they always looked pretty random (especially from del bosque's departure on... another enourmous mistake). they always depended on the mood of their stars. every top team relies mostly on its stars of course, but that real madrid didn't just rely on them... it was ALL about them, as there never was any structure or tactical football imprint in that team.... it was like a jam session... zero structure, all improvisation.... and that's not enough for a top team.

the "zidanes y pavones" phylosophy was just ridiculous (i would even say "amateur") and the results proved it in the end.... at least imo :))

I can't imagine a team where Kaka, Ronaldo, and Ribery can play. From what I have seen in Milan, Kaka needs space, Ronaldinho restricted him a lot, let alone Ronaldo and Ribery/Silva.

For me, the best Real was under Capello. It was a real joy to watch, especially near the end of the season. Amazing. Roberto Carlos was the BOMB :D

As for CL, well I remember Juventus always being a snake to Real MAdrid.

Now they are saying they are in negotiations with Utd for Ronaldo. ALthough admittedly negotiations could mean: "Do you accept xx mil? No!"

I wonder when Platini is going to start spouting off.......

Well summed up post Lo Zio, It wasn't the most successful time and it wasnt just unsuccesful it caused the problems they've had recently with a somewhat below top tier team.

I think this time will end up pretty much the same, yes they'll have little moments of success with a league title or even a Champions League but it will only cost them in the long run.

90 mill for Ronaldo is just crap, but Congrats.

------------Casillas--------------
Maicon---Pepe----Albiol--Ramos----
-------L. Diarra--Gago------------
-Ronaldo---Kaka-----Silva---------
-----------Villa------------------

------------Valdes----------------
Alves---Puyol---Pique-----Lahm----
--Toure----Iniesta----Xavi--------
--------Ribery----Messi-----------
-------------Zlatan---------------

Clasico will be on fire if that happens! :D

:) I'm loving every letter and 0 of that e94.000.000 for Ronaldo :D

Simply because Ribery/Villa/Silva seem further away now.
We didn't play Kaka recently, but Silva and Villa humiliated our defence more than once. Ribery also scored an interesting goal and is TOP-NOTCH. Maybe fcb will get at least one of them.

Besides, with e150 million already gone how much will Real spend form now on? They'll either stop buying attacking folk or defensive ones. Either way - i'm thrilled.

Out of the last 13 Ballon d'Or's (2009 Messi included) - 8 have been to Real, three bought right when they earned them, but NONE won actually playing for Real.

The other 5 were 2 'italian' players (Nedved, Shevcenko) and 3 'catalans' (Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, Messi).

I was amazed at this statistic... and didn't expect it, but hey :))
*oh, it was made with Ronaldo2 being one of the 8 bought by Real.

I am all for transfer fee and salary caps
I mean come on there are people starving of hunger FFS!!!

Barcelona has NOT put an offer of 74 millions for zlatan. They offer etoo and 10 millions for Ibra, that's all. You can't compare both cases...

Not true, according to Sky Italia Ibra s agent stated that they received an offer on par with Kaka s one.

Now what are they going to do with Ronaldo, Kaka, Robben, Huntelaar, Sneijder, Higuain, Raul, Van der Vaart, Van Nistelrooy, all in the same team?

Apart from the new 2 their selling all of them apart from Raul and maybe Robben.
