Real Madrid Thread

Raul is a important player for Madrid... tomorrow he will play against Alaves, but only 20 minutes i hear. you have to see how they play now cause of the coach(zidane, guti, beckham) if the coach make the same with Raul he will be like 3 or 4 years ago...

madrid lookes quite good again tonight...:( , as did barca.

still remains to be seen whether or not we'll show up looking to win or to take a draw or a narrow defeat, if the latter is the case we'll get smashed i reckon.

as for barca, even though they won 5-1 there defence was terrible and judging by that performance i wouldn't be at all surprised with a chelsea win.

Well... last night's Barça would've lost against Chelsea. Betis could have easily got two goals before Barça even shot... and it was two own goals by Melli (Betis defender) and two lucky free kicks that the goalie did not manage to hold properly that gave advantage to Barça.

This Barça is no longer the monster-team it was three months ago. But I hear Lampard is not either the all-around-superstar he was in November, so...

lampard was never the all-round-superstar you think, severely overrated imo. second in the world? i don't think so. i think it's chelsea in general that have looked a little bit lackluster lately. maybe it's just complaicency. i reckon they will beat barca though, in the first leg at least.

Do you think? I'm not sure! I hope so, because losing against Barça in the CL can be very painful... :) and I don't fancy Real Madrid getting beaten by Ronaldinho again!

Oooh I am looking forward to Madrid steam-rollering Arsenal tommorrow!

You honestly are having a laugh aren't you!! Lampard has not been over rated, well not last year anyway. Fair enough this year he hasnt been up to his high standards, but definately not over rated!

he is overrated, maybe a decent player, but definitely overrated. commentators always mention what an outstanding season he's having because he's scored X amount of goals. how many of those goals were pk's or dodgy freekicks that the wall should have blocked. imo there is no comparison with him and gerrard, also how poor has lampard been for england recently, most of the time you forget he's playing.

and in regard to ninjabreakz, if it cheers you up...then good luck, i guess you need a bit cheering up. ;)

No Ashley Cole and a dodgy defence - Real should be laughing tonight.

After Zidane's retirement, and Pablo García and Gravesen in the team, I suggest that the poll in this topic is changed to "Who should be Zinedine Zidane's replacement at Real Madrid?", with such options as:

- Guti
- Riquelme
- Juninho
- Aimar

and the likes. :)

Whoah, no more Real fans around on this site? I thought they'd be parading and going nuts after Canna, Emerson and Ruud...

tbh...i dont think emerson will make much of a difference. He seems like a player way past his best and was completely embarresed last season in matches which pitted him against gattuso, fabregas and vieira in the world cup. Even steven Appiah managed to give him a good go too!!

Well real marid are trying to secure the services of kaka from AC milan at the momemnt,so I'd imagine him to replace zidane.

Well... Kaká seems highly unlikely... so I guess it'll be Guti or Raúl who will take that role.

As of Emerson, I think he'll give more balance and strength to out midfield. Canna and Vandeman are great signings! It seems Capello is trying to settle a 4-3-3 into the team, I imagine something like this:

--------------------------Casillas-----------------------------
-----------Cannavaro (CB)----------S. Ramos (CB)-----------------
Salgado (RSB)-------------------------------------R.Carlos? (LSB)
--------------------------Emerson (DMF)----------------------------
----------------------------------------Guti (CM)------------------
--Beckham (RMF)----------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------Raúl(ST)-----------------------------
-------------Ronaldo(FW)------------Van Nistelrooy(FW)---------------

Emerson+Guti+Beckham makes a midfield the same way that Makelele+Essien+Lampard make a midfield or Edmilson+Xavi+Deco make a midfield.

Have you any problem with a 4-3-3 formation? Funny that you say that when Real Madrid have bought more defensive players that offensive players for the past two seasons:

Defensive - Gravesen, Pablo García, Sergio Ramos, Woodgate, Diogo, Emerson, Cannavaro.

Offensive - Robinho, Cassano, Baptista, Van Nistelrooy.

Plus Morientes, Owen, Zidane, Figo (4 attacking players) leaving the club these past years. That's hardly a trend towards a 11-strikers-lineup, is it? ;)

Cheers!

Wrong formation Gedtillo.

Capello.. Oh boy you're in a for a treat. Trust me, Madrid will fail in the CL but win La Liga. Though Capello wins games, you'll hate him soon enough. Defensive Longball tactics 4-4-2, two big strikers(his boy Cassano is the exception that proves the rule) and he loves his dmf's. You'll get to see plenty of dmf's now, more than you ever bargained for.

I think you're looking at the following formation.

Casillas
Cicinho Ramos Cannavaro R Carlos
Beckham Emerson Vieira?(any other dmf)Guti?
Van Nistelrooy Cassano

Well now and then Capello manages to create a boring 4-3-3.

Indeed. Though Raul was one of Capello's prodigies all those years ago and Capello is very well known for sticking to his set of players.
