Real Madrid Thread

They really got to start benching the crap 'merchandise' players, and start playing players with skill.

At least Fabio will tighten up their defence a bit more, as well as the PUMA! :D

You have 5 great forwards/strikers. Raul, Cassano, Robinho, Baptista, Nistelrooy, and you talk about a 433?

The defensice back 4 is ok now with the players you have, but remember if using both RCarlos and Cicinho you'll be getting two fullbacks that are better at attacking than defending.

Midfield is weak
Defensively: sure it improved with Emerson, but Gravesem is average imo, the others won't even bother.

Building plays. the only two you had were Zidane and Figo, and boy you'r gonna miss him (Zidane). Bechkam is way overrated (imo shitty player, good for selling shirts tought), but Don said he (Cappello) likes long ball, well that's were bechkam shows is game, a very limited game though. Guti is a good player which I admire, but he plays better near the strikers. Robinho could play in this role but he's style is of breaking trough the defence with the ball than making that critical pass that Zidane/Figo use to do.

Emerson+Guti+Beckham makes a midfield the same way that Makelele+Essien+Lampard make a midfield or Edmilson+Xavi+Deco make a midfield....
Dude don't compare such midfields.
Emerson+Guti+Beckham, no strenght, no aerial power. can't tackle, and weak positioning(exception being Emerson). good passing, nothing out of the ordinary with the exception of bechkam with long balls.

Makelele+Essien+Lampard, extremely powerfull, strenght, excellent aerial game, and great passing both trought the air and the ground.

Edmilson+Xavi+Deco, fantastic positioning thanks to the last two, weak in strenght, compensates in the air with edmilson. and again thanks to the last two fantastic passing skills.

in the end two many great strikers that will all want to play and don't like the bench.
look at chelski, they reduced their numbers because mourinho knows that too many stars will create problems cause everyone want to plays. Duff is the example.

I agree Beckham is a bit overrated, for England this is very clear. Though at Real he has been one of the most consistant players that has supplied a lot of goals since his time in Madrid.

Baptista ain't no striker: more of an OMF. And don't forget he played as a DMF until he came to Spain. Robinho ain't no striker either, he's more of a ST or OMF. Like Raúl. So we end up with three strikers (Ronaldo, Cassano and RVN).

Guti is an excellent header, and has great one-touch passing abilities. I agree that with two wingbacks like R.Carlos and Cicinho we should play something more like Emerson+Gravesen+Baptista but I bet the defenders will be Salgado and a new left fullback, so I guess the midfield will be open to a bit more creativity.

I think that this midfield could work, but I might be wrong. ;)

What 'crap merchandise' players would you replace? Beckham? Oh, yes, please let's bench the only player we've got that fights and runs throughout the 90 minutes. Hey, and he's our only FK taker, given the highly likely departure of R. Carlos. Plus, he's a great player, you have to watch him play live, on site, to acknowledge how important his long balls and his strength in the midfield is.

I said that Capello will use a 4-3-3 because that's what he's been using the first three games of this pre-season with R.Madrid. I remember Capello's Real Madrid of 96/97 and man, was it a boring team... but it had strength, confidence, a great defending structure and was deadly on the attack. It beat Figo+Ronaldo's Barça at La Liga and set the basis of next year's Champions League winning team.

He might as well use a 4-4-2 like he did back then with two CM's that drive the pace of the game (Seedorf+Redondo back in '96, Guti and Emerson now), two players at the sides with good passing and offensive alternatives (Victor and Raúl back then, Beckham and Raúl now), a ST with good striking abilities (Baptista, Cassano or RVN) and a 9 (Ronaldo). I think Robinho will have a hard time this year... let's hope I'm wrong, because I just love watching him play!

I Love Robinho, he's so good......sad to not see him play...hope that he will find a spot soon!!

but then....i have to say, this year's Real Madrid is of great threat to Barca and all other teams in the CL....but will Capello make them all play together as a team?? i always feel that the lack of team play was why Real Madrid played so poorly in the past even with their great stars

Well, that's been the case since the second half of the 2003/2004 season, that season was the last where Real Madrid truly delivered fantastic gameplay.

I don't expect great football quality with Capello, but more aggresive attitude and courage. And we need that more than beauty right now. ;)

having spanish relatives who support real madrid ive grown fond of this club for over the last 10 years but have been disappointed in them recently...

im soooo happy real have made moves to strengthen their squad PROPERLY to compete with barca. finally there sorting themselves out...new proven manager major signings in cannavaro, emerson & van nistelrooy. there making moves in the right direction!

i wish man united could do the same! and follow los blancos suit.

Well, it seems the Diarra deal is finally done... :) Now I think this season Capello has followed a very smart signing strategy, and the team is more balanced than previous years. Especially with Emerson + Diarra in the midfield, we might recover the strength we lost with the departure of Makelele.

I think Robinho should be in the initial team over Raúl, probably in the same position as left winger or midfielder.

I think it depends on which team you play against: Raúl is a better defender and a better passer, and does a greater work in the midfield. Robinho is more of a winger or forward than a midfielder, he can't drop back to the midfield if needed and organize the game from there. Robinho lacks that ability. On the other hand, Robinho might be a better choice if Diarra and Emerson have a good day in playmaking, and you need to open the wings further. ;)

Thank god we have such good players... ;)

...but they play sooooo baaaad... :)

Please, Capello, let some fresh air in, I'm so bored of watching your boring style, and it's only pre-season yet!

What were you thinking about, Fabio? :( What a stupid, boring team... Please, play Guti, play a diamond in the midfield, cut the long-ball-crap and let your boys play. Robinho was the only thing half-decent today.

dont be silly mate ıts not looks good :nono:

Looks magnificent:D:D

;)

Hahahahahahahahaha, sick of Capello already. You don't know how happy that makes me :D.

Diarra, Emerson, Capello and playmaking .

Though I still think Madrid will win La Liga, 1-0 longball style every game.

At least he has finally balanced the squad. I was sick of seeing Real just sign endless amounts of forwards and attacking midfielders while not even looking to bring in proper defenders and defensive midfield reinforcements. I think Arsenal are like that now. With the philosophy, that attack is the best form of defense.

I read that Capello doesn't want Cicinho in his team, who is going to play rightback then ??? Salgado again?

Salgado played most of the pre-season matches, so yes, today it will be salgado playing on the right side againt villareal. But i think he wants to let sergio ramos play rightback, and wants to buy a new centerback.

But im pissed.Capello wants to sell the player that was part of why madrid improved so much during the 2nd part of the season.Cicinho created a really good team with beckham, and after capello kept beckham, why is he selling cicinho?

I heard Real already gave up the rights for Robinho to Juventus, as part of the emerson-cannavaro deal(means as soon as Juve is Serie A again, they could have Robinho  ).

Thats two players that have been 100% Real last season, and he puts them up for sale/wants to trade them them off and wants to replace them with no respect at all.

Capello is slowly killing my excitement for Real. :(

The problem is:
If capello fails, real can kick him out of there, but cicinho will not be coming back, and real will be full of players that capello wanted and real will not be able to get rid of.
