Real Madrid Thread

First game: 0-0

Not the greatest of displays, i think Villareal played better and should've won.

Edit: if Real is really going to sell Robinho and Cicinho they'd be better of shooting themselves in the head. For me Robinho and Cicinho were Brasil's best players in the WC, and the most promising players on the Madrid squad.

Too bad he didnt bring Zlatan.... that would be the ultimate suicide move for Real.

I don't think he needs zlatan for that, he got van nistelroy.

Salgado for Cicinho?Wow great choice, the team was running up the field and by the time salgado was up there, the villareal defenders where already back and waiting. :|

Robinho on the bench until the 75th minute.
If capello doesn't need him Real should sell him, it's just a waste of talent if he would get used like that for a whole season(something that might make him leave next summer).

I still can't understand what the hell capello is thinking with that cicinho thing, what does salgado do better than cicinho?
At least cicinho is alot faster, and builds a good right side with beckham.

Weak first game, i can understand the disappointed fans at the bernabeu.

I think its because Salgado might have better defensive skills.

He and carlos looked very nervous today, and where not the best in their defensive duties.

I would rather risk having a hard working cicinho in there, that might be a little weak in the defense, than a salgado that is not the greatest help in both defense and offense. It's just crazy to see beckham lay off the ball to the right, and you have to wait until salgado runs up there and gets it.That stuff was basic in the cicinho-beckham right side.

But i guess we all know that capello is not the person to take risks. The problem is, salgado just can't keep up some times, and that makes him weak in the defense.Cicinho might pull a shirt or too, but at least he will be there, because of his ability to catch up.

Cannavaro was good, for his first game for real in the bernabeu, he was solid.

Capello might have said that he wants to bring the "winner attitude" back into the team, but this team had...everything else but that. But i guess the team spirit can't really be great when theres rumors/official statements about the people in charge trying to sell half the team.(ronaldo, baptista, robinho, cicinho, woodgate)

Beckham extended his contract:

Spanish daily Marca quotes Real president Ramon Calderon as telling Television Espanola that 31-year-old Beckham has now committed himself to the club until 2009.
"Marketing is important but at Real Madrid the most important thing is the sporting factor and the technical (coaching) department gave the green light to renew Beckham's deal."

Now that's good news for...

...anti-madrid fans :)

He said it's not true today. They would sit down and see if theres a possibility of him playing two more years in madrid.Capello and Calderon seem to agree with him staying.

Hahaha man I feel so sorry for the Madrid fans. Beckham is a worse football player he is just there for the merchandising. And the stupid Van Nistelrooy HAHA mannnnnnnn they really wanna commit suicide. If you play with Van Nistelrooy you automaticly play with 10 players

Oh real fans could you tell me something??When a coach will drop Raul??
I thought Cappelo would have had the"balls"to drop him,i think i was wrong
today he was awful,he brings nothing ,he slows down the pace of the team,he never looked like dangerous pfff, capello drop him and put reyes or robinho instead!!

With Becks and Ruud there I'm sure Real will not win anything again.
:lmao:

beckham was madrid's best player possibly in every real madrid match i've seen since zidane dropped his form a couple of seasons ago...

His hatrick aside, he hasnt done too badly over the last few weeks but is still adapting to the slight differences in the spanish game but I am very suprised to see how Cassano and Reyes are playing. If those two can keep it up, Barca will have trouble retaining the league title.

Yes, Tuesday's was a good game for Madrid, although it was a veeeery weak team.

Guti + Diarra in the midfield, and the back-in-form Raúl are the key to this return, as we already knew that Reyes, Cassano and RVN are doing very well so far. :) The only disappointment I'm finding is Emerson, he's not doing much... <_<

I don't think we will win La Liga this season. We are still not as consistent as Barcelona. Our new signings are excellent so no complaints there - RVN and Fabio.C my personal favourites. A world class centre back & a consistent striker. Why oh why did Alex Ferguson let RVN leave? He is so clinical!

EDIT: Can a mod delete the poll at the top! Pointless now!

I love how Real Madrid utilise the attacking 3-4-3 formation that can quickly switch to a 3-5-1 Defensive or a 4-4-2 diamond in the blink of an eye depending on the situation. I think one of their scouts has their eye on a very young Fabiano Rivera, I've watched this kid, he's only 6 years old yet but they are already proclaiming him as the next Maradona.
