Rangers Thread

I think Big Feck is gonna be under intense pressure now, and if you lose on Sunday you're 5 points behind us after only 3 weeks ..

Oh what drama in the Scottish league (not). Come to the English Premiership, boys, play against proper teams.

Oh what drama in the EPL, that great league that couldn't find one team to beat Arsenal while Europe provided could .

For fuck sake we're out. Novo was fouled, played on and scored then the fuckin ref said no goal! and gave us the free kick! Wank!

I never seen the game, I was playing 11s, but 1-1 with CSKA at home is not good enough.

UEFA Cup here we come.I bet you're all scared of the Rangers  £8million, see you later.

The ref blew his whistle well before Novo had the shot, you could clearly see his hand raised for the free-kick and the two CSKA players stopping the play.

I don't think that incident should be allowed to overshadow what was quite frankly a dismal performance by Rangers on the night. It was summed up by McLeish at the end when the final whistle went, the camera panned to him looking at his watch clearly saying "that's never fucken three minutes man".

Yeah, the European team that beat Arsenal was Chelsea! LMAO Don`t even compare the SPL to the EPL - its a shambolic, farce of a league and the only reason you don`t want Rangers and Celtic to join our league is because you wouldn`t be guaranteed Champions League football every year, because the opposition is better.

btw, this isn't really the place for an argument about this subject, I'd be more than happy to carry it out in either the Celtic or Man Utd thread, I posted my reply in the Celtic thread.

Rangers defender Jean-Alain Boumsong has threatened to leave the club if Alex McLeish was to lose his job.

Pressure is growing on McLeish following Rangers' failure to reach the lucrative group stages of the UEFA Champions League after their defeat to CSKA Moscow in the qualifying round.

With the first Old Firm encounter of the season looming large this weekend McLeish is finding himself under scrutiny and Boumsong insists his manager needs the full support of everyone at the club.

Rangers pulled off a major coup bringing Boumsong to Ibrox in the summer and the French international admitted he would look to leave if McLeish was to leave.

"If Alex McLeish is not coach of Rangers I will be leaving," Boumsong told skysports.com.

"David Murray the president told me along with my mother and my agent that if I am not happy at any time the door was open to leave.

"The manager needs support and if he is forced to leave I will not be happy and I will leave myself.

"I came here because of him, he is great person and a great coach.

"I had opportunities to move to England and elsewhere in Europe but I chose Rangers and it is not for the money as has been said but because of Alex McLeish.

"There is no one more disappointed than me about not making the Champions League, but Rangers are a big club and we are still in Europe.

"We are a new team and we need time to gel and Alex McLeish should be given time to build the team."

Despite reports that Boumsong may be unable to move on to another club so soon after joining Rangers on a Bosman, Fifa regulations state that if a player is unhappy he can move on if the club agree to it.

Hughes' brain: "Oh theres the ball"

10 minutes later

"Was I supposed to go for that? it was over a foot away!"

*sigh*

Ricksen. FUCK OFF.
Arveladze. FUCK OFF.
Hughes. FUCK OFF.

McLeish. Win the next game, if not,
FUCK OFF!

Yeah I saw that on the telly mate, have to admit I was pissing myself laughing as he just stood and watched it roll by, then the crowd were going absolutely mental at him.

Ive been hearing rumours rangers are going to try and lure Souness back to Ibrox if they get rid of McLiesh, anyone else heard of this?

And i wondered how the Ibrox faithful would take it?

Not heard anything about that. If he comes back, hopefully he'll bring Barry with him... making my new Blackburn top out-of-date already.

There's to be a big announcement on Wednesday when David Murray returns as chairman. We'll need to wait and hear what the damage is.

Oh right, i was sure they had some connection though, was he already given loads of cash, or was it Murray that sanctiioned the big money purchases?

It was Murray that allowed Dick Advocaat to spend more than the club could afford. £12m for Tore Andre Flo - a pre-Abramovich Chelsea bench warmer.

Walter Smith was never allowed to spend as much as that. I think the most he spent on one player was £6m

According to Souness, he and Murray talk on a weekly basis, but nothing has been said about the managers position at Rangers.

Souness was allowed to bring in a lot of high profile, mainly english players tho werent he? Butcher, Woods, Walters, Hateley, etc, etc . . .Was it under Murray and Souness that those players were signed, i think Steven and Stevens were also signed under them?

Them were the days 8) ;) :D

Well Murray annonuiced plans to wipe out the Rangers debt with a share issue, is this definitely going ahead?

Apparently so. But it's the fans who are paying the debt after David Murray got Rangers into it.

rangers.co.uk said:
The rights issue will be underwritten by Murray International Holdings Limited, whose principal shareholder is David Murray, up to a level of £50m.

The terms of the rights issue currently under consideration would give shareholders the right to subscribe for one new share for each existing share held in Rangers at a price of £1 per share. More detailed information in connection with the forthcoming rights issue will be provided to shareholders by way of a formal circular in due course.

Even if he pulls this off (for a club that currently can't sell all it's season tickets), £50m will not wipe out the debt. Double that and you might be close.

my fellow gers fans im just finished watching the rangers v celtic match at the potato bowl, on the rangers channel, when we gubbed them 3-0 to win the title at thier place.Brings back the memorys when we could actually score and beat celtic :D :D :D :D

A marvellous occasion yes. The team done the huddle on the pitch after the game and the cretins in the stand threw everything they could at them.

Yeah Foxtrot and a mad celtic fan done a bungie jump form the upper stand as he was so drunk ahahha. But he forgot the parachute :D :D :D .The Best day in Rangers history :D :D :D

Re: The Rangers Thread - Murray Returns & Bids to Wipe Out D

According to the Evening Times, Alex McLeish's side must win their return leg vs Maritimo or he faces the sack.

Re: The Rangers Thread - Murray Returns & Bids to Wipe Out D

Hardly surprising, 1 goal in the last 4 games and no victories in that same number, as well as the fact could have led the team out of two European competitions before October. McLeish has also made himself look a bit of an arse with the Moore situation, he could have handled that so much better - Australia were out of the Olympics on their arse almost before their feet hit Athens, he would have had Moore back pronto anyway.

tbh I'd like to see Rangers do better, it's quite frankly far more boring when you no challenge - OF games feel like regular SPL matches now. I'm not slating Rangers there, that's just how it feels. :|

Re: The Rangers Thread - Murray Returns & Bids to Wipe Out D

Why the hell has Prso etc gone to Rangers? Can you guys tell me? Why would they choose the climate and the poor SPL? Excuse my ignorance, but I have not kept up with the news - Monaco were in the CL final last year for Gods Sake - now Prso might not even be playing UEFA Cup football in the very near future.

ninjabreakz correct me if im wrong but is the scotish climate not the same as the english climate i think so.He also rejected AC Milan so im sure he is not daft and saw more sense to come to ibrox. Also the spl might be poor but it doesnt stop rangers n celtic beating premiership teams in europe

Re: The Rangers Thread - Murray Returns & Bids to Wipe Out D

When did Rangers last beat one?!! Was it not Leeds Utd when Gary Mac was playing!??

On Prso, that Milan thing was a lot of crap, if he'd a solid contract offer from there he wouldn't have come to England nevermind Scotland. Apparently there was 'interest', my arse. Another Murray 'scoop', trying to portray Rangers as being able to compete with those teams. Another fact people should not forget is big Dado actually has a poor goalscoring record, and had it not been for one freak match (that 8-4 whatever between Monaco/Deportivo), when he scored 4 goals, he wouldn't have been noticed. In fact he was only playing at Monaco because Shabani Nonda was crocked, as soon as he was fit again Prso was dropped to the bench.
