Rangers Thread

No problem it just seemed a bit rich as beforehand you were putting down how the Rangers game was nothing really and now you "can't wait". I accept he talked a lot of shite but I think it's more to do with the fact you thought it'd be easier than it has been.

For the record I think Man Utd will still top the group.

lol theres a big wide world of football outside of glasgow, but unfourtunately you's are stuck waiting for each of the 10 derbies to come around...

well im sure you's all have a big religious sing song at weekend..

enjoy...

and when I visit your lovely city I'll probley wonder what there all getting so excited about unless there getting giddy about the fifth OF derby thats on the folloeong weekend :)

Yeah 10 derbies. Haha!

I'd rather watch Rangers play Celtic than Manchester United.

As I would Celtic play Rangers.

Really, labelling the entire thing a religious charade that happens 10 times a year is quite unfair.

As I've said, at least we have a derby that means something...

Fair play to you Foxtrot, I was only havin a laff, I s'pose its cos ive been talking to people up there about this game and they are getting pretty hyped about it, and its rubbing off.....

but from the outside looking in thats what it looks like, isnt the religous history the reason why it means something or do you look to other derbies as equally meaningfull, like Thistle dont they come from Glasgow are they in the top div (forgive my perpetual ignorance on The SPL)

It's a classic picture, I had to use it as my avatar. And I did it first, he then copied me ;).

Vann, I do admit that there is an element of both supports who are motivated religiously, however, I look at the stands filled with Rangers fans and I absolutely despise them, Protestant or Catholic, Muslim or Buddhist.

And Partick aren't competing for a league title so of course they're not the same.

Could you and Gunner not just switch avatars? As the mind has to recognise the picture, then reverse who you think it is. Then we'd still get that rather hilarious picture, as well as your Partridge style visage ;)

Yeh man united can only dream of playing the likes of an auld firm match outside europe and no, nothing in the entire planet of professional football compares to Rangers vs Celtic.

Typical English arrogance.

Biggest club weve entertained, lol! Remember, we played Arsenal in pre season!

Fair play to you...

I mentioned Thistle cos there in the same city so it is a derby, didnt think that both teams had to be going for title for it be more important although it does add to it obviously, but if that is the citeria then of course the OF is different cos what other league has two teams (who are the only teams) that are gonna win the title....

But fair enough to you its the most important, best _ _ _ _ _ _ (insert own superlative description) derby in the world ever...

and who am I to say different :)

And to the other fella sos I did forget that arsenal (won one more Prem title than Blackburn) played a friendly up there, my bad how could I forget such giants :)

muhahahaha, two team league, yeah that's right.

'Who won the league last year?'
'Eh Man Utd'
'Before that'
'Eh Arsenel'
'And before that'
'Eh Man Utd'
'Year before?'
'Eh Man Utd again'
'Previous?'
'You guessed it Man U'
'How many teams are in this league? What about season before that then?'
'Now that was Arsenal'
'Well guess it ain't Man U, let me guess year before......Man U?'
'Yep!'
'Year before too?'
'Yeah'
'One Question, how many teams play in the league?'
'Eh quite a lot actually about 20, but Blackburn won it the year before that'
'Ahhh well, now your talking........oh well definetely proved the EPL is the most competitive league going, you'd have to be Mystic Meg to guess who'll win the league'.

What a fud. Do all Man U fans indulge in sh!t-talk?

lol you talking about the past decade not even that, the past seven years, look at the points diff in the top 6 in The Prem then look at the diff between 2nd and 3rd place SPL then when youve got ya head from out ya arse and before you take another swig of meths tell me how many other teams other than the OF how many teams have won it in the last 50 years...

or is the fact that this thread is titled "the first to fifty" refering to the first one to win the 50 OF derbies this season

I think that'll show us who's talking sh*te....

I don't dispute the fact we are a total 2 horse race. This is due to a). Scotland been damn smaller than England meaning there's less clubs and fewer teams to support. Meaning the OF are better supported and generate far more money that any other team up here. b). The obscene money being paid by TV (OF get about £3 mill each, whilst Wolves supposedly got £25 mill for getting in the prem), that's why your sh!t teams are not as bad as really sh!t teams, but all you can muster up is two teams in the recent years.

Sorry I'm not saying your league has poor standards, all I say is it is anything but competitive for the title. I'm not talking about 20 or 50 years ago, I'm talking about recent times. The money generated in England is frightening and the reason your able to improve your teams as you've done, Rangers and Celtic are hindered, your lot aren't.

That was fukin quality mate, had a good laff @ that!

Right im bit confused, just read UWS which is a United fanzine, each issue has an interview with an editor of a fanzine representing the team we play next, in this case Rangers the fellas name is Mark Dingwall and he's the editor of "Follow Follow"

First off he (like a couple of lads I know up there) said that....

"there's no culture of touting in Scotland, You'd be taking your life in your hands to try and sell a ticket for more than face value outside Ibrox. Some have tried it for Celtic games but I've lost count of the numbers I've seen done because of it"

So this is the second time ive heard been told this but FD rubbished this claim.

The most disturbing thing was, when asked about the type of atmosphere we we're gonna get at Ibrox he had these comments...

"Sad to say I think iit'll be overwhelmingly hostile inside the ground. Uniteds reputation as a Catholic club ( WTF) and Celtic's persistent hanging onto your coattails has had its effect"

Where the feck does this come from, can anyone explain??

Well if it's the same 'Follow Follow' as the website one, don't believe a thing they say, utter cretins the lot of them.

The 'Catholic Club' is typical, basically any club which isn't anti-Catholic is labelled that way. The fact they're using that as an excuse to be hostile shows you exactly the kind of mentality you'll be dealing with.

Yes I have, it's atmosphere but it's a dump compared to Parkhead ;). I can't mind the names, I was behind a goal in the lower section.
