Rangers Thread

Where do you get the £10 million to ease the debts, thought you'd have to go far in the competition to get that??

Well done to Rangers though, although I think they're going to find it very difficult in the group stages, as will Celtic for me, however I think we'll compete a bit better, however unless we get a very kind draw I can't see us make it with the team we have lacking a bit of flair.

CD - As for wanting to play Real, don't talk stupid, I like many others at the game last night said we want to stay well away from the likes of Real and that, and are hoping for a kinder draw. If I had to take a 1st seed, it'd be Arsenal, Lazio or Deportivo who we might have a little chance against. 2nd seeds, probably Panathanaikos or PSV and 4th seeds, really anyone apart from Sociedad.

However looking at the teams in the draw they're going to be really good groups.

FD

Sorry FD, but Arsenal would cruise it against Celtic and Rangers if we get drawn against them. Could you just imagine what Thierry Henry would do to Celtic's lumpy defence.

Oh yes I'm positively cackin' meself at the prospect of Larsson being shackled by Cygan ;). You'd be surprised what an occasion can do Zico, we were up there competing with Juve and Valencia when no one gave us a chance.

Listen im sure if Big Sol and Big Toure can keep one of the best stikers in the world in RVN quite im sure they could contain Larsson. Anyway how could Valgaeren, Mjallby and Balde contain the likes of Pires, Bergkamp, Ljungberg and Henry? :D

I'm not disputing who has the better team on paper, but you should realise by now that counts for nothing when Arsenal and the CL are mentioned together - bottle merchants!

Haha.........bottle merchants!!! Wasn't it one of your players who missed a penalty in the final minute of last years CIS Cup Final Classic.

Oi shut it the pair of you

Who cares about either Septic or Arse this is the Rangers thread

Do you care who you get FS?

No not really, would like a chance though but looking at the teams we could get makes it look very hard, getting to the groups though is a good bonus for us, I think we can be better away from home as we should last night, I dont think we will be able to take 1st or 2nd places regardless TBH. It will be good experience for some players though and a chance for others to show they can do it on the big stage, never know we could do well, as long as we win our home games then I will be happy

Listen you'll be very lucky to even win one match in the Group Stage FS. I really wanna see Rangers against Real Madrid, would be interesting.

I'd like to see either of us get Madrid, or if not Milan, etc. We've both played Juve within the past few years already, although we didn't get shagged like you did (I still remember Alec Cleland getting 'Del Piero'd' on the left-wing, and that amazing FK he scored ;)). At least if we get a big team one of us can look forward to a massive match and the other can chortle when they get humped  .

45 minutes to go.

Hmm the Juve we played was much better than the Juve u played, about 6 years difference maybe more than when we played them, last time we were in the groups we were doing okay then it all fell apart, hopefully this we will do a bit better, if we have Craig Moore back and fit for the games then the defence should be a lot better, although Berg did play very well last night IMO and is getting up his pace with every game. Still we are a bit small at the back.

Ach well, better to be lucky and win one CL group match than be lucky to win one SPL match like your team mate

Debateable on which side was best, yeah you played a great team with Del Piero and Boksic up front, with Jugovic, Di Livio, etc too, but we played the team that won Serie A that season with Nedved, Davids, Del Piero, Trezeguet, Thuram, Buffon, and a pre-injury Salas. I think the mob we played was a better side. I remember some guy called Michele Padovano scored a couple at Ibrox, his glittering career next took him to Crystal Palace and Metz ;).

Ach who cares, they beat you anyway

30 minutes to the draw, actually I would not mind having

Bayern
PSV
Rangers
Partizan

think that would suit us, but I have this strange feeling we are gonna get Man U :l

Group E

Man United
Panathinaikos
Rangers
Stuttgart

- Good group, we have a chance

Group A

Bayern
Lyon
Celtic
Anderlecht

Celtic good chance of going through as well

I think Rangers are out, they'll struggle. It isn't an overly hard group, but I've not been impressed with Rangers in Europe. As for Celtic I think we'll struggle to get through but we've got a slight better chance than Rangers due to experience. Pity Lyon had to buy Gerry Elber!! :l

One thing to say FS, 'Ruuuuuud, Ruuuud, Ruuud, Ruud, Ruud, Ruud!!!'. ;)

FD

The Germans and the Greeks dont frighten me in the slightest, and neither should they frighten the players, beating Man U home or away is not really that possible we are certainly not at their level. Rangers can go through this group if they tighten up at the back then its very possible, I fear for Celtic though, you fans seem to expect so much on the back of last years lucky run, I think they will struggle badly, home form is very bad in Europe and away from home these teams will be onto your tactics after seeing you last year, and as its a league format you wont get away with sloppy home form as you did in the UEFA cup.

LOL.........what the fuck are you talking about, poor home form!! Are you thinking of those last two games, where we won 4-0 in the away legs..........hahaha. The last team to beat us at home in Europe was Ajax, when we where just holding onto our lead.

What glue you sniffing FS, dear boy!! ;)

FD

Come on your home form last year in the UEFA cup was pretty poor, only away goals kept your lucky run alive and fine you know it. Celtic are nothing in Europe although you lot seem to be getting carried away again, still we go into this expecting nothing, you lot have a much bigger fall ahead of you.

Nevermind its more money for your shareholders, the padlock on the biscuit tin is never going to be found now LOL

LOL.........I've already said I'll find it hard to get through, but think we're a better unit in Europe than Rangers. That's my opinion.

As for home form, your talking bollocks mate. We are undeafeated in umpteen games and that includes quality sides in there i.e. valencia, Juve, Porto, Liverpool, Stuttgart, Celta Vigo etc.

FD

Listen Panathainiakos are alot better than Rangers FS, for a start there record in the Champions League is alot better than Rangers. Just wait and see the atmosphere they will create at home. :D

i fancy celtics chances more than rangers tbh, i mean the performance against copenhagen, who are mediocre at best, wasnt exactly inspiring...

Because celtic had a good run their team is more in tune with what they need to do, and also have a bit more presence because of that...

Im a rangers fan but im not gonna delude myself...

we'll get pumped. hard. up the bum. lots.

Im not saying celtic are gonna go though or anything, they might not...

Who cares now anyway neither are gonna win it, the £10m was nice...

ok the dough, lol its not far off that though...

dont get me wrong, i really hope rangers do well, as do celtic, just cant see it, and dont ant to get my hopes up all over agan just for them to be bulldozed ala 1993.

Come on you might have been undefeated but you never beat them all at home, mostly draws which is fine in a knock out cup but in the CL 1 point at home is not going to be enough, you know it Frankie  Celtic are mince, you will be lucky to get 3 points IMO, big Rab in the CL hahahahaha quality!!

Ripkord is obviously a tim in disguise, the Rangers fear no team and neither they should!!

Although on a sour note, £10 million isn't a correct figure, it's lower than that.

Your right but I already proved that to your mate Danny, but still he wont believe it

LOL FS you say "mostly draws", of the teams FD mentioned the only ones we never beat were Liverpool :D.

I have never said Celtic will go through or Rangers will go out. I think Man Utd will beat Rangers but then they'll beat anyone, Stuttgart are a good side, no doubt they bought in some players during the summer too. Panathinaikos have sold a good few players, but WE/PES legend Emmanuel Olisadebe remains, they play in green and white, and have a shamrock-styled badge  .

Here is the stadium where Rangers will be playing Panathiniakos, it only holds 18,000 thousand but these fans make it sound like 100,000. These fans also throw Iron Bars, boulders and anything else they get there hands on, so Rangers look out.
