Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

So that isn't from the Seabass movie released a couple of days ago? Because that's what I assumed and I can't see how the playtest has anything to do with it, that vid was most likely almost from the development phase i.e. not the same as the playtest (meaning it hasn't got locked down weeks before to make it nice and shiny, I mean, why would they do that and leave debug code and place it as if he is working on it?).

Also, isn't animation something that should be a cornerstone in the game? It isn't in the current PES engine and that is the cause to all the robotic and rigid moments in the game as the animations (which is the players movement) has to be adjusted instead of letting everything else depend on the animations.

Drekkard was commenting on the video, but I was trying to give an example of how much time was left for the development and implementation of the animation.

Even if you took it as red that the debug video (which it clearly is as nobody is playing it) has 50% animation code and 70% gameplay code then the final 50% animation will make a massive difference to fluidity.

I am just find it a bit laughable that peeps can state exactly what the gameplay is going to be from an out of focus, shaky cam, without proof that it aint anything but debug code.

Give the game a chance until Gamescom and then make your mind up.

I hope not Rob and I do beleive it will be great, just not perfect.

At least we know FIFA will be superb, I just want my old PES back.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Vitalic is another. Chastises PES but salvates at the thought of FIFA10!

That's because FIFA10 is 70% complete and has gotten rave reviews from everyone who has played it including Eurogamer and IGN and we know for a fact that many of the major issues from FIFA 09 have been addressed.

PES on the other hand was supposedly 50% complete, has average previews from the big games journalism sites, is yet to implement any motion capture and has less than a couple of months to do something that EA took years and years to get right with FIFA. We have no evidence to suggest the game is going to be "great" other than the words of someone that said PES2009 was as good as PES5, in other words, a downright, bare faced liar.

Being anything more than cautiously optimistic about PES2010 is utterly moronic when you consider the past two iterations of the game and the fact it seems like history is repeating its self in terms of the number of people buying into the hype.

Realistic faces and hairs on arms don't make a great game.

I'm starting to think that I want PES to be a good semi simulation game, like PES 5. This way I can have a more action based arcady game on the computer and FIFA 10 on the xbox for my serious football fix. Still PES needs to actually do this good, and not bad arcady like the last versions.

1. One could argue the same for PES.
2. Some say they still don't have it right after god knows how many incarnations?
3. Yet you will believe someone when they tell you FIFA will be "great" such faith?
4. That's all most sensible posters have said and are being, but you ramble on and on about ball physics and mo-cap.
Have you seen FIFA's ones personally where they "have to be seen to be believed" or is that just another video or hearsay?

I understand your love of FIFA10 is gripping you to unimaginable levels but simply coming on to this board to bash PES is a triffle boring frankly and becoming somewhat predictable and has been done long before you were registered.
Step forward JimBaxter and TerryButcher perhaps the original fisherman or flamers. Quite funny how they never posted after PES's release?

I have said i will judge a game for myself not by someone from a magazine keeping inline with the big games companys or who has had their hands greased by Konami or EA.

How do you know how long the new animation/gameplay code has been in development. You are assuming its just a year but it may well have been all of last year too, your also assuming what you have seen is the latest build.

I'm not buying into the hype, I can see change with my own eyes, even the out of focus debug code shows a smoother game animation wise and its nowhere near complete code. Look at the huge graphics upgrade, look at the size of the dev team and the better marketing.

There are lots of positives to suggest we may get a great game, but falling for hype (speaking for myself) is not the case.

Indeed sometimes im getting sick of the BS Fifa talk and PES facism around this time:RANT:

I want those golden summers beginning august when Winning eleven was rlsed on PS2, sjeesss where did that time go:WORSHIP:

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I think we will know if Konami are confident with 2010 if they give us a demo weeks before release day, and not just a couple of days before. For me vids chat and more chat wont influence my final decision. Alls this is doing is giving me slightly more confidence, but I have been there before. It will all come down to the demo.

And if we get that, there are key areas of the game I will need to play test before I buy it, if they are remotely similar to 09 I will not bother.

You cant blame people for having more confidence and faith in EA when it comes to converting promises into reality, you can blame the last 2 years from Konami for that.

So you're saying that they in a couple of weeks right after they release the first actual footage of the game makes so significant gameplay changes that they haven't even been close to doing in what you claim even might be 1½ years?

I'm not buying into the hype, I can see change with my own eyes, even the out of focus debug code shows a smoother game animation wise and its nowhere near complete code. Look at the huge graphics upgrade, look at the size of the dev team and the better marketing.

Funny you should say graphics, I always thought that wasn't the thing one bought PES for.

Seems like you are. The size of the development team means nothing if you tweak an engine so old it's a miracle it even works. I can only hope they've put 150 of those on a new engine to be released as PES 2011/12.

On a side note, anyone notice how sterile the working environment over at PES Productions was? I would assume great ideas to be strangled there rather than the opposite. Oh, anyone remembers the trailers to FIFA09 where they showed their studio? It was amazing, great view and flags and club shirts all over the place. Just a tip to Seabass, seems like he needs them.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I think Konami should try to rip off the Clubs mode in FIFA, it is one of the most amazing experiences ever in football games. And this is even if that mode is really shallow in 09, it's basically only exhibition games and some basic rankings. The problem is that Konami seems to be light-years after EA in the online department for some reason I can't understand.

I mean they're going back and tweaking their 2-3 year old network code now, just doesn't make any sense. Unless this tweaking is super advanced tweaking I can't see them implementing anything Clubs like, which is a shame for the PES fans.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

If you believed what they were saying about PES2010 being in secret development for the past two years then you need to splash your face with water or something and step into the real world.

I can't believe you are disputing that the WENB blog said PES2009 was PES5 with next-gen graphics, that is exactly what they said because I remember them saying it straight after the first play test. As a long time PES fan I found that offensive and I think you should to, I spent hundreds of hours on PES5 and the Winning Eleven equivalents, I had the correct boots assigned to every player in Europe for god's sake - so for someone to suggest the abomination of PES2009 was on par with that wonderful creation is like being slapped in the face with a massive dick.

Are you referring to me??

If you are then I am somewhat confused!! Where have I made referance to their assumptions?

I am making my own mind up, I'm not really listening to all the hype, I just feel, and can see change, so its going to be an enjoyable game to play.

I'm not bothered about WENB, Adam ,Suff or whoever.the last 3 PES's have been pretty poor, but that does not mean that the next game will be as bad.

Assumptions are being made on past experiences which is not always what it turns out to be.

There are too many people who think their opinions are fact, and seem to spend all their time trying to assimilate people in to the FIFA borg.

The real problem I think is that you don't know how a game is made in any greater detail, neither do I, but KONAMI has already tried twice to do a true next-gen game and failed, so why should they deliver this year (except graphics)? I mean, it's all a problem of the gameplay engine really, simply look how they can improve the graphics but only change very, very little in the core gameplay other like 5-6 years, and this on much, much stronger platforms. They truly need a new gameplay engine if they want to compete at any level except the one they are at now, which is getting smaller and smaller.

And yes, they can't just make a great game this year "because they have to", it's also a question of the actual gameplay engine which obviously has reached it's limit years ago, I can only imagine what mess it must be.

Animations in my opinion should be one of the absolute foundations of which the game should be based on, foot plantation, how the body is balanced, where the players weight is (how fast can he turn, pass, dribble, etc.), and so on. This can't be the case in PES and it really should if you want to do a good simulation in this generation. Sure, PES way was great in the last-gen, but that was then. The technology moves forward but PES doesn't, look at all the other japanese based companies, almost everyone has failed to impress lately.

Ok I can agree that my signature is strange but this not important. The most important thing is what You write about two games.Dekkard writes like FIFA FANBOY.I don't care about his signature but for his posts......

You need to grow a little, boy. It doesn't matter what my avatar is. Actually is a gif that a member of this forum made for me 2 years ago and I wear it with respect for him and for my club, Barcelona, where I played for 2 years when I was young.

Talking about fanboys because of avatars is quite a lame argument. Sometime in life you'll understand you only have to be a fan of your family, your close friends and yourself. Videogames are a stupid thing to be fan of.

I can be a little stubborn sometimes but I always explain my reasons in the best way and trying to be precise, something fans seldom do. You must be ignoring the good things I've said about PES (there are many), so I advise you to read again my posts and try to understand something.

Sorry to the rest if I'm being a little repetitive, you are right I've wrote down too many negative things about PES, but the reason is I'm waiting them to do the real change and step up. I't syears now that I'm waiting a new approach on things, and what I see is not enough.

But don't bother, I won't try to explain what I find wrong / what I hope from the game again, I'm not going to explain how things are developed from my experience and I'm going to be a "fifa fan" somewhere else.

For the record, I tend to be quite critic about games in general, including fifa and even about nba 2k9, that happens to be the best sports game I've ever played.

Agreed

it seems some find it almost offensive if you do not like what they like.

I do not like aspects of many games that my mates adore, but i do not feel the need to go and try and convince anyone that they should not like what they like and enjoy the discussion of their preferance.

I enjoy the discussion, I hate the attempted brain washing.

That situation is now, but in the past EVEN PES 5 WAS BASHED TO DEATH HERE.... so I guess it is not a surprise. I have been almost 6 years at this forum, mainly at the "rumours" threads of a new game and it is a bit funny. In the past the people was not happy with the gameplay PES produced (even when those were GOOD times), now when the game is something like a POS (worse than PS2 era) people feels the need to bash Konami or the franchise even more (I dont blame them if they want to complaint, but not OVER AND OVER AND OVER like a broken record). And now since FIFA is a DECENT option (for me is not that great) they have a new motive or excuse to bash them even more.

Junka, those were the good times, when the release was patiently waited and when the game hits the I****t you went to took the "blue frog" software to d*****d it LOL :D

The bottom line is "if you dont like the game or you hate Konami/Seabass/Adam/Suff/WENB/whoever, just dont bother/play FIFA/get a life/get a job, etc..."
