PES2010 discussion thread

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

If they spent as much time working on the game as they did signing cover stars PES would be the greatest game ever created.

sorry meant to add on this. The same could be argued about FIFA.

Ronaldinho
Del Piero
Viera
Davids
Rooney
and lets no forget Paul Scholes!

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

people have such little faith, and to a point, i can understand it. however, it may just be different this year, it may just be that Konami are making the drastic changes that we crave.

You can argue the other way of course, but commercialy they know they need to make these changes and long term investments. I tell you now, no business would spend more, increase it's size if it did not feel that it had to up its game to win back a portion of the market it had lost.

This is why i have more faith, not just because they are "listening more" it's because the bottom line return has diminished, and considering the size of the market they had before EA pumped millions into their game, they know time has run out.

Even I can see that the small gameplay snippets are showing slightly different, more controlled animations, it looks far less on rails and robotic.

I am no code writer or programming wiz kid, but I have no doubt that come gamescom you will see a 80% build with 80% animations implemented. not even a fool would say we are adding mo-cap, announce it to the world and then not show it at the games convention.

Money means change, not fans, the fans help with moulding the game to suit a bigger market, but if its shit and sells by the bucket loads, producing more and more profit each year then it would be foolish to increase your overheads.

Konami have lost a share, now they are re-investing to win it back.

Both games will be superb this year.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I have every faith that PES will be a great game this year and I'm anticipating it far more than I am Fifa.

I wish people would stop criticising the animations. The games media has seen a demo at 50% code (only 25% new animations) that was probably put together a couple of months ago. Konami won't have stopped working since then so they effectively have about 4 months to implement the animations and polish the game. I'm not too concerned about the lack of animations, although maybe Konami should be further along than 50% if the longer development time is to be believed. But they wouldn't have released mo-cap session videos and talked about the number of Japanese players involved if they weren't serious about animations this year.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

you really are an idiot

Actually seeing as both games have been played at a 50% build I think it was a perfectly reasonable question to ask how the two compare.

Another case of Adam getting too defensive when asked a tough question.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

seemed like reasonable questions to me. As I have said, trying to run a forum of that size means less time to think of your answers and i think he just cant be bothered sometimes.

But I do not think you can judge anybody you do not really know them.

Anyway this is a pes discussion not a WENB one so maybe we can all move back on track:))

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Jesus! Ball physics are horrible again! Passing seems as crappy as it was! I had not seen the video properly! What the hell? :FAIL:

Don't start with "beta build" or "50% code" and absurd excuses. Coding doesn't work as you think. If it's not great by now, chances of being magically fixed in 2 months are 0%. Coding good ball physics takes a ridiculous ammount of time, no way that will change substantially in so little time. So this are more or less the ball physics we will get in the game.

I see a lot of long passes through ground with the ball glued to the floor. Really, that can't be accepted. According to some, ball physics are already near perfection in PES 2009, so I guess real balls move like that.

I will be playing real football in an hour, will try to pass like that the whole game and see if I can succeed :PIRATE:

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

In Fifa, every player feels the same. The uniqueness of players is missing.

There's something about it that feels un-authentic. Hard to explain.

Not really - you said it perfectly and this is the reason PES fans cling to the game.

In FIFA you have great things like manual passing and 360 motion but the implementation doesnt translate into a better representation (imo) of football.

Always respect your opinion D but I see it differently.

It still has time when there is 6 months dev time left (which they would have had when they put this code together.

Without getting into a saloon like gun slinging match I think you may well be surprised.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Come again? I thought PES would ship in October-ish, not March.

Ok let me explain for those finding simple maths difficult.

April 09 50% code is written OCT 09 is a release date.

April == month 4 +6 months =October

=6 months from 50% code to release.

 Your posts are becoming a tad samey like PES.

Btw are you considering buying this game still?

Strange as the video was released July 14th and wasn't more than a few weeks old as the Messi motion-capture was on display. Also, a 50% code isn't 50% gameplay-wise, more like 60-70% as all sorts of things of smaller character gets done last (kits, menus, transfers etc.).

You might not know this (it seems), but the game developers doesn't have until the evening before release to change things, as some rather important things as putting the actual game on the disc that you'll be playing it on is left to do.

how teh f*ck can u say that by just watching a out of focus background fuzzy gameplay vid?

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

The ball only looks big because it is recorded of a screen like that, everything that is bright bleeds into its surroundings a little.

Video was released in July the playtest was June (if I remember coreectly) so the code would have been written Late April/early May.

ok Ill knock a month off for pressing discs so we will call it 5 months dev time, that is almost half of the games programming life still left. that is plenty of time to implement animation and that is my point, for those doubting it aint gonna be different from waht we have seen.

But that video isn't from the playtest is it? Or did Konami record that video in June too?

So that isn't from the Seabass movie released a couple of days ago? Because that's what I assumed and I can't see how the playtest has anything to do with it, that vid was most likely almost from the development phase i.e. not the same as the playtest (meaning it hasn't got locked down weeks before to make it nice and shiny, I mean, why would they do that and leave debug code and place it as if he is working on it?).

Also, isn't animation something that should be a cornerstone in the game? It isn't in the current PES engine and that is the cause to all the robotic and rigid moments in the game as the animations (which is the players movement) has to be adjusted instead of letting everything else depend on the animations.
