PES2010 discussion thread

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

That's a specially made console by Konami only. To receive one you must buy 100 copies of pes 2008 and 50 of pes 2009. Also should they discover you own any fifa version then you'll be disgraced and placed on their blacklist in which you'll be deprived the privilege to be sold any Pes copies henceforth.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Han, I don't care if it's two ro three months before the final product. They've been developing this game for quite a long time right now, and they know what features it will have and how are they approaching the development. And they could easily start to unveil things for users.

I was criticizing the fact that they are again doing nothing right in marketing, and of course it's supsicious as all this years, because if they had something truly spectacular, they would have told by now already.

That doesn't mena the game will be better or worse, simply that they are stressing communication not about GAMEPLAY, nor CONTROLS, nor AI... they communicate things that are hardly related to actual gameplay. You will agree it's not what users are waiting for.

Maybe pes ends up being better than fifa (I doubt it even if I prefer to have 2 good football games than only one) but look at how EA are unveiling the game progressively and in terms of actual gameplay, of facts, even showing its calendar of development. I wish konami was ABLE to do this.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

@Drekkard. EA have already sent their early builds to the media etc. While konami have only recently. The embargo is over on the 15 July so we'll see what comes of it.
And there is gameplay, AI, and other things which have been mentioned, I don't know if it's as much as what Fifa have mentioned but they have been pretty vocal.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I don't think so, can you please make a list of features they are implementing in gameplay, why they think they have to implement them and what are they not going to produce until next year because they couldn't make it in time? That's what ea does.

I repeat: I'm not judging the final product (would be silly because it doesn't exist yet), I'm judging the (again) horrible marketing efforts of PES. How can they repeat the same mistakes over and over and over?

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

@Drekkard

First page of this thread has the news so far. Like I said, the embargo is lifted on the 15th which then will open the door to questions and queries lets see what happens then. There is absoluteley no doubt that EA have better PR but that doesn't necessarily mean it will be a better game IMO.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Eh I don't think anyone thinks better PR equals better game...

Exactly. Fuck the PR, just give me the beautiful game. You can advertise your product till the cow's come home. At the end of the day, the proof will be in the pudding.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

That's two metaphors in one post there, Jimmy!

I think it might be wise to just compile all of our hopes for the next PES into one list and check them off or put an X through them when more info is found.

Well, it's a game of two halves, I'll be over the moon if the Konami lads come through with the goods but we just got to take one game at a time, starting with 2010.

Classic-clicheville. ;0)

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Let's see...that's five now...

Anyway, I'll start from most important to least (but still very) important (and I'm not gonna say "better gameplay" because that's too broad). Top 10:

1) Goalkeeper animations
2) Make it harder to fake shoot and dribble around the opponent
3) Better off the ball tactical thinking by both my AI and the opponent's
4) Stop the pinball gameplay. Make it a trade-off -- if someone tries to do that, it'll be easier for them to concede
5) Stop cheating!
6) Much better Master League, with the ability to hoose real leagues.
7) Better crossing
8) Eliminate that force field around the throw in receivers
9) Better passing animation and in-game use
10) Easier and better free kicks.

nice, I also would put "not having retarded, clunky, unrealistic and over the top animations when you're running around dribling with the ball" in there somewhere.

I think that the major animations problems are the ones I listed above, although it WOULD be nice not to have the same half-second running sequence repeated to inifinity.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Lol see what I mean?

IMO it wasn't, it was decent but picking your cousin up for a game of bowling, darts or pool every other day was boring as hell. The missions were meh except for the bank job which IMO was one of the greatest ever.

But Rockstar played the marketplace. Taking the reviewers to the HQ showing snippets of the gameplay and the other cool things like calling a cab and voila 10/10 for GTAIV, when in my opinion GTA SA was a more enjoyable experience. But to not let this thread deviate into another topic I want to leave it with my point.

You can make the world believe anything if you market it well.

I agree there.

Anyway back on topic; Konami has never marketed PES particularly well and that never stopped it being the undisputed king of football games for many years. EA on the other hand, though great at marketing and PR, are guilty too often of talking themselves up and promising far more than they actually deliver.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

About the online part of the game has there been any news about them bringing back 2 v 2 ( you and a friend on one 360 and 2 others on another) i miss that.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

In all fairness, it is looking as it will be a much improved game and I for one am very optimistic.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

No harm in hoping at this point...to be honest if they sort the gameplay out, enough people will still prefer PES over FIFA despite all the missing features to make it a big seller.

Hell, some people are still playing PES5 ffs...

agreed also. after playing that bank job mission and doing a few after that i got bored. thought the missions will get better until i read how that bank job mission is the best one by far :(

anyways back on topic: .......

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I still play pes5 and love it. you have to wait a while to get an online game but for the most part its well worth the wait :) Looking at the online news for pes10 tho it seems we may have pes back to its best online... YAY!!!!
