Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

To Jamezinho and Nick, demos can be different than the full games, for sure. The demo of pes 2009 to me felt much worse than the final product (even if I disliked it anyway) and I rembmer how the Euro 2008 demo was much BETTER than the final game.

So, they can be different than the final product, yes, in both a good or bad way.

The last one has been fifa 10. I was very critic with a lot of thing sin the demo, while the final game, even though it still has some annoying things, it's much much better than the demo. The main difference being the pace and cpu behaviour.

Regarding pes, I expect the final game to polish a lot of things, from physics to collisions, animation blending and goalkeeper AI. If they solve all that, or atl east improve it, the final game may be an enjoyable experience, quite different from the demo, that I personally disliked a lot after finding the usual patterns to score and ping the ball around effortlessly in Top Player (I won 13 consecutive matches on Top Player changing teams everytime and found CPU AI quite cheaty as always when they tried to draw).

So, concluding, I expect the final product to be better than the demo and history shows it can possibly be.

Actually, I've just been reading through the Fifa 10 thread and some people are of the opinion that the demo was better than the retail code. Others think the final game is a lot better. There seems to be split opinion on that game.

Personally, I've never thought a demo was considerably different to retail. But I agree with your points, and PES 2010 should be an good improvement by quite simply sharpening the response times and polishing up the animations here and there. The WE 2010 demo seems to have addressed both of these issues and is regarded as more representative of final code.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Since I haven't played PES since PES6(I think, rented pes2008 and it was terrible, 2009 didnt interest me) could some answer me does the series have 360degree long passing yet? Or is it still the 8/16 way directions?

Also, does will PES2010 have extenisve editing features like it did with the old ps2 games?

Are the ps3 option files of a good quality interms of kits etc.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Think I should be having PES 2010 on the 17th. The shop I deal with informed and assured me they'll be having it that day. Here's hoping!

360 long pass-dont know check demo.

Editing in PES2009 was as good as the PS2 days

Option files are excellent especially with the image imports on kits.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Every year there are rumours that the game comes out a week earlier than stated by Konami and it never happen. Maybe it will be there one or two days earlier, but that's all...

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Sorry for bumping this, I really need to know the info regarding the teams. Anyone know? Much appreciated!

Hi guys,

Does anyone know if all the teams are licensed in Europa League and Champions League? I know about PES licensing problems and I was wondering about the teams from the competitions which they have license for...Or is there a team list from the game somewhere?

PS - I ve been a PES player in my early years, starting with ISS but unfortunately moved on to FIFA 08 and 09 but this year the demo of PES 2010 has got me hooked! I am looking forward to this year's game!

Thanks and any info about the teams in the game is much appreciated!

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

They have licensed the competition format, not all the individual teams. Some will be missing but some little editing is gonna do the trick.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Don't get your hopes up. Sorry to be a doom merchant but as someone has already pointed out, the early release rumours happen EVERY year without fail.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I always had my copy of pes 2-3 days before official lunch date.

Still funny positioning from konami, 20 days later than fifa and in the same time framework as uncharted, forza 3 and ModernW2. 3 candidated to the GOTY. That's some competition (not to mention NBA2k10 which might get SGOTY).

Well i guess it is gonna be a beautiful fall for gamers!!!

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

It is a rather crowded period gaming wise but Konami's strategic planning isn't exactly strategic. They give their major competitor a 3 week window and pick a battle with GOTY contendors. Smart.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Given the buggy mess of FIFA, it could be a god send. They may be cashing in their copies for PES in droves...

Konami could win over a few offline Fifa players if they deliver a strong Master League this year given the unfinished, sloppy and buggy state of Manager Mode.

PES 2010's release date could work well for them as they may pick up a few sales from people not warming to Fifa 10 and trading it in, as Nick said. PES has some tough competition on the 23rd but the series has always commanded sales figures that most other games can only dream of, even though the series has been poor for a few years. I think Forza 3, Uncharted etc will be just as worried about PES stealing some of their sales.

It's probably the case that a number of games are releasing this month to keep the hell out of the way of MW2 in November.

I'm guessing the following teams are for editing(and probably based on real European teams, maybe someone can confirm that):
Marchidegna (fake name)
Huerpojauza C.F (fake name)
FC Cerchizmajiu (fake name)
Ugonalce (fake name)
Alashergokh F.C. (fake name)
F.C. Kolugavinsk (fake name)
F.K. Ljemorac (fake name)
PFC Ryagzhilograd (fake name)
A.S. Punoichongaux (fake name)
MFK Trnolevoce (fake name)
PES United
WE United

Not compared to the amount which have delayed releases to 2010.

Uncharted 2, ISS and no Uni on the same day :BOP:

I know it's ridiculous. I don't care if they release it in December as long as it's bug-free......I'm looking at you EA.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Man, I would be quiet before they send someone to take you away....you know too much :JAY:

When are you going to post the Collision detection bit. I really am interested in what it's about.

There is a few ways they can do collision detection.

a) Measure the position of every vertex on every player's mesh and see if it intercepts another player's vertex in it's mesh. Sounds accurate, and it is, however PES2010 would run at about 0.1 frames per second calculating this in real time (for example 3D Studio Max which I used in my Animation job calculates hair and cloth simulations this way, it's painfully slow). Using a modest 10,000k polygon model that's a lot of calculations if even a few arms and legs collide (say 500 vertexes on one arm calculated MULTIPLIED by another 750 vertexes on another player's leg coming near it) So lets say they leave that idea for say - PlayStation 10...

b) Each player has a biped skeleton underneath it's mesh driving the movement via rotation and position. They could try to measure intersecting bones and if they hit/collide make then "rebound" in the opposite direction. Not a bad way to go but how would it measure the space (or volume/shape) between the bones? Using that way the Chest/Rib/Spine bones would be calculated in a straight line like the small finger bones, so you would get parts of player's bodies popping (sideways) through chests etc (not like that picture many posts back of a head going straight through a the other player's chest - it would have to be deflected sideways or straight back out in that case).

c) The Artists/Animators could construct a VERY low resolution mesh (i.e. bounding boxes in the rough volume/shape of major parts of the body structure). Then link those low-res meshes to the bones (so that they move with the players) and measure the intersections/collisions of the vertexes of those low-res mesh's against other player's low-res meshes. This is called "proxy mesh" collision.

I would say a combination b and c.

The older games (ISS N64 etc) would just shunt that Master Controller I mentioned in another post (each player on the field is ultimately controlled my a master node that sits above it all for the coders to measure where each player is in XYZ space). Using that they could rotate and/or move each player away from each other at certain speeds and directions in relation to the animation playing (i.e. if it is a light tackle they could shunt it away subtly, if it is a sliding tackle they could shunt it more aggresively). No one minded that too much back in the days of ISS N64 because it wasn't high res and most of us were playing on 63 cm CRT TVs at best and the replay functions were not as precise...

Technicalities... you would think I wouldn't enjoy games and just nit pick it when I play, but I have learnt to turn off my "3D Animator brain" and enjoy a game for what it is... sometimes.

Here after google translate:

Konami on Thursday an online demo for Pro Evolution Soccer 2010th We are hoping for smoother flow of the game.As Microsoft just announced via e-mail, appears on Thursday 8 October an online demo for Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 for download on Xbox Live. Therefore, out Thursday from its online matches of the new PES try 2010thIn recent years, the online game is the biggest test of Pro Evolution Soccer. In 1-vs.-1-or 2-vs.-2-match players had to contend with some huge lags and delays. Konami will be using the new PES 2010 online demo an insight into online entertainment. We hope for smoother flow of play in this PES-season.The demonstration appears likely in the PlayStation Network for PS3.
