Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Sonido 83.....lol....lol....lol....lol....lol....my intellivision had football games that sounded better than the pes 2010 demo...

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

The sound in PES 2010 shouldn't be rated higher than 70. The only reason they give it such high rating is because it would bring down the overall rating if they were honest about it. If the reviewers could just give the sound really low ratings then maybe Konami will do something about it... As it is now it almost ruins the experience, it's that bad.

Agreed 100% Gab, why oh why dont konami at least fill the game with generic crowd noise because their attempts at chants is really REALLY :CENSOR: annoying! And then leave it to us.
Surely it couldnt be that hard for a company like them to record proper chants on matchdays especially for the liscensed clubs.
Its like konami are saying "Hey you can now add your own chants, and if by that time you have'nt cut your ears off,
you f*cking will do" Now when it comes too sound engineering i am an amateur but i know enough to blow these muppets out of the water.its like they are forcing you to change something for your own sanity. :FAIL:

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I dont want to provoke an arguement here, but i dont see what is so special about pes2010 graphics?? Yes they are better than last year, but a lot of the effect comes from an overdone lighting effect, and when you get up close it all looses its 'shine', some of the faces are good (an area in which pes has always been good) but again a lot of faces are just overdone and make a few players (pirlo for example) look like he is 80 years old.

I know its something you have been pushing for Knight, with the inverse kinetics, and i agree, i would much prefer better footplanting and prevent the skating around the pitch and making the physics (especially on collisions) better. Rather than improving the lighting. Would be interesting to see without that lighting technique used, just how close to pes 2009 it looks

Sorry, but i disagree, in Pes2009 and 2010, there ia a much better feeling of gravity when compared with fifa09/10, in those games it still feels like your on ice.

70 would be generous, its unacceptable the way it is right now.

Do they watch football in surround sound, have they been to any matches in recent months? Doesn't sound like they've done their research properly again.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

pes 2009 scored too high for sure. But the embarassing pes 2008 scored the same more or less. So konami are now facing a tought review time. And even the guys working at the gameshop i go to for the first time in ages are recommending people fifa. Yeah the tide has changed.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I'm playing the WE2010 demo right now, and I can say that the response is better and the players seem to move better. Otherwise, it's almost the same game.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Well the 360 in PES 2010 isn't as obvious as in FIFA 10, because in PES 2010 it still locks on to the angle you are moving at. This is why it still kind of feels like you are on rails in PES I think.

for what it is obviously concepted, and that is arcade football, 89 is just about perfect.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Just read some fifa reviews. As i said the difference this year will be so clear that even the wildest fanboy will have to admit it.

Technically Fifa is better in nearly every aspect, but I still don't think it's as fun as PES. That must still count for a lot when reviewing a game.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Fair enough. This is PRO EVO TOPIC ,NOT FIFA.

BTW,This collision system really annoying me.LOL.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

The way the nets stretch the ball would almost go through one of the holes.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Exactly. The game needs a next-gen animations engine like IK (inverse Kinematics) that can generate any movement based on the body joints' range of movement, the position the feet, the ball, and the center of gravity, in correlation with the desired movement.

It also allows split second animations to be generated and integrated into any player's new position.... which is very important when generate goalkeeper movements. I can't take another year of marketing motion capture stunts and a couple of new animations slapped onto this ANCIENT engine:

I am a 3D Animator. It would be pretty amazing if each foot is using IK in terms of each animation of running, tricks etc.

Character Animation is all Heirachy Based, at some point they need a "Global bone"/"Global node" that controls the global position of the Character - the Feet are well down the chain from that node, so that's why the feet still "slide" a bit when running. Having said that, they may use blending (via code) over the top to shunt the foot into position to a point in "World" XYZ space mapped out on the field surface, therefore giving the illusion of being clamped/solid to the ground even if the player's global node is moving.

Where I would see IK being HEAVILY used is for adjusting the position of the foot in relation to the ball (like he hinted in the video) so that the foot will connect to the ball when the player hits shoot and therefore not miss the ball completely. Could you imagine how hard it would be if they didn't? heaps more shots would not only miss their target but there would be air swings and balls going 90 degrees all the time.

In the past they would do two things:
a) affect the ball position (and trajectory, speed etc) as it reaches the player slightly - you would barely notice in the PES series, but boot up ISS2000 (or was it ISS2001) on PlayStation 2 and you'd spot it, sometimes skipping/popping within a 1/10 of a second to the correct position.
b)The other thing they would do is Rotate and/or shunt/shift the Global Node to get the character in a better position for when the ball comes in.

In the older PlayStation 2 FIFA's and Pro Evo's that used to be pretty obvious - the ball was influenced into positions and characters skated around to get in position. The ball always used to hang to a character on a thread sometimes, as their engine would quite literally keep the ball attached (via heirachy) to the character as the character moved, only to release the ball when another player won a tackle (therefore assigning the ball back to the "world"'s XYZ position, and then to the successful tackling player's XYZ position). They would usually blend the XYZ positions with code.

So that is also partly why dribbling is less effective in these newer versions - if the ball is always influenced to be 30 cm away from the character you could run flat out in a straight line and keep the ball away from most opposition with insane ball control. Nowadays as the Ball uses better physics you see characters having to use multiple touches and different foot positions while dribbling to keep the ball going in the direction they need it to go.

Collision Detection? Don't get me started on that Can of Worms....!

Stick to the topic chaps please, whilst it's obvious to want to compare the games ...it always ends up in a row & usually at the expense of someone's account.

Agree 100%. The demos feel very scripted still. No evidence of 360 movement. I really loath how when you pass the ball, your player automatically goes on rails. Yes, super-cancel is there, but it is so annoying to deal with rails. I just feel so restricted. PES engine does feel very archaic. It's still fun, but it really needs a massive overhaul

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Re the 360 movement, I think it is a lot more noticeable with the more skill-full players, ie in the WE demo, when your running with Kaka in a straight line, the slightest movement on the stick and he will start moving off that line in a gradual angle.

That's really lazy by Konami, I mean come on, how hard is it?! Surely they have more then 5 different ref's in the match. Just interchange those with the linesmen. The fact they use a player from the team playing makes it even worse. Can't wait to see Ronaldinho, or Crouch, being a linesman. It's a small, and for most of the time, meaningless element of the game, but when you do see it it just takes all the atmosphere away from the game.

Dude, I saw Bacary Sagna as the fourth referee. Talk about a joke! :FAIL:

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

The reason why me, not sure about you, and many other people are bitching about the changes that need to be brought about to PES, is because we use other games as a reference point, do you think we'd care this much about the game needing a turnaround if other games were way more crappy?

Fifa surprisingly, is the only competitor to PES, unlike every other genre, and passing off a rival the achieves to crumple a game we love here.

You might be satisfied with PES only appealing to the hardcore, I'm not.

Talk about the changes that need to be made, then, rather than dropping in a remark about Fifa's metacritic score that no-one in here cares about.

We're all entitled to like PES regardless of whether popular opinion says otherwise.
