Cesc Pops In For A Game

Legendary Spanish playmaker and PES lover Cesc Fabregas popped into the office today to check out PES2010 for himself.
What did he think? He loved it!

I went through all the tactical improvements first, mentioning both the team sliders and player cards. He played around with
settings for a while and asked loads of questions about how they'll affect the team AI. I think he wants some inside info before
he starts playing against team mates.

As our teams lined up in the tunnel he was really taken aback by player likeness and he was also clearly impressed with the
in-game graphics once we kicked off.

But Cesc was really here to see how the gameplay had developed and he clearly wasn't disappointed. He loved the increased
difficulty and said building up play was much more realistic and satisfying.

We had a really tight game, with few chances. I missed an opening in the first half, he put one away in the second. Game over!
He then had a game against his agent and won 5-2. He's a talented player on and off the pitch.

You don't have to take my word for all this. We filmed his impromptu visit and I'll get that onto the site as soon as I can.

Jon.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Some people seem destined to spoil the party for the rest of us who prefer the game and want to enjoy it. We all point out the flaws and features we would like to have implemented but certain posters - I dont have to read their post to know its tone or content - they cant even concede the stuff PES are superior on - its like pulling teeth.

Back on topic - the rails problem is an issue for everyone who wants a more open game. sometimes (most always on offense) I want the game to be completely free so I can pass and move into space to exploit defenses but on defense I like being able to track down a ball or opponent quickly when the cpu give you the right angle.

As gamers some of us have evolved with the industry and technology and some havent - personally I applaud development but my skills havent kept up:CRY: I was a boss at many games and now am just average at most and suck at others. My point on this - PES should definitely open up the game and maybe leave the rails gameplay under assisted or as an option for the ones that prefer it.

The demo (and therefore the game) has alot going for it despite the naysayers - not sure if it is as close to the removed video but definitely not lagging miles behind FIFA as claimed.

If many of the animation/clipping problems cant be sorted out over the next few releases then Konami will have to start fresh - maybe they'll wait to the next generation - who knows.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I for one can't understand why people continously moan! I mean if the animations in PES were great then `I bet people would moan about sommut else! I for one think PES 2010 is a great game after playing the demo of the 'other game' loadsa times. The gameplay, weight of the ball, physics are perfect and I feel like I am playing a real game.At the end of the day remember it's only a game! I love the slow pace (pc demo) of the game and at high res it looks beautiful. So what if the reaction times are slow?! Learn to adjust to a new way of playing. I am getting used to it and I think that the slower reactions times are definately more realistic than the pingy pongy passes of yesteryear. Just my 2 cents. My only real complaint is that Panning Camera that for some reason has been taken out of the game. Overall well done Seabass!

If you're on the PC CHUCKY, download the demotweak v2 patch in the editing section. You can select how far you want the camera angle to pan and it's superb on setting 8, looks like a real match camera angle.

:)

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

hate to say it, but after a few times playing the we2010 demo - although it gives me the feeling of the old good days of PES - it's gameplaywise way behind the other game.

And you cant upload your face either. Which is shame.

On a brighter note. Cesc loves it. Which is nice.

I expected that. The silence about on-line says enough.
If they got 4 vs 4 or so, they would have announced it already.
I am not sure if on-line will be good. Some guy from WENB played online and said there was no lag whatsoever, but he also said the game played slower on-line. Does that mean there is some slow-down on-line? Maybe they try to play all on-line matches on one default speed to prevent lag?
I am still not sure about all of this.

Cheers I already have the tweak tool which is why I have been able to appreciate the demo/game more. I have the camera setting at 9 and it's bloody awesome! Amazing how different the game looks and plays!

4 v 4 doesnt really bother me, neither does 10 v 10.

2 v 2 and I'm more than happy. Anything more would get confusing for me. Which isnt hard.

As long as slower pace doesnt mean slower repsonse then thats cool to.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Animations aside, it's amazing how retarded online play on PES is compared to the other game... Absolutely no comparison, and no excuses. We're sitting here waiting for a 2 vs 2 or a 4 vs 4 announcement while for the past year the other game had smooth 10 vs 10.

anyone who tells you fifa 10 v 10 was smooth is full of shit.. lots of bugs and response time issues in 10 v 10

10 v 10 is shit on Fifa, it's overrated in my opinion. 2 v 2 is fine for me. Remember, Konami need to walk before they can run as far as online goes.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I also noticed on WE2010 demo compared to the PES2010 demo [PS3] the ball touches the players foot/boot this time instead of a 10 inch gap like in the PES2010 demo. Nice to see this has been erradicated in the newest build. I'd say WE plays a tad quicker but it may be down to the animations being more polished ect...
Overall i'm pleased with the improvements over 2009 version. Just hope the new ML lives up to the hype.

Will there be an option to upload your goals/highlights or is that just a rumour?

How long should they get? I'm sorry there is no excuse for the online efforts from Konami with PES.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

If PES got 10 vs 10 then everyone would be all over it, just like with the graphics. Random 10 vs 10 isn't much fun (actually it's really boring), but playing in a team with like minded people is awesome.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Nobody's debating about 10 vs 10 being enjoyable or not (it most probably will not be), it's about the differences in the technology.... smooth 10 vs 10 (one whole year ago) is an achievement when compared to struggling 2 vs 2 on the other side of the globe....

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

10v10 may not be so good, but 6v6 or 7v7 where all the forward players are controlled by sensible people who know football is a joy to play, with all the runs and positioning being done by actual people and the back line controlled by one player....

2v2 on PES6 was really good though, especially with someone where you knew the way they played, but I had loads of fun with random people in 2v2 as well.

oh yeah. 2vs2 is loads of fun, no doubt. It's much easier to arrange, as well.
