Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Hopefully Badgerman will return once again.

We need his unique brand of troll management.

I'm in a bit of a self-imposed exile at the mo.

I'm waiting for the demo to come out before I emerge, mainly because I'm not a fan of how 2010 looks in the videos I've seen. It's nothing to do with the graphics, which I think look top notch, it's more of a case of shite camera angles accentuating the rigid animations - it really sticks out to me for some reason.

I can't remember the name of the camera angle I use in WE10 (as I've not yet ascended to the rank of supreme nerd) but I have it set to a tilt of 9. Not only do I find it easier to play with but I find that it is much more realistic. Camera's are usually found at the middle of a stand and pivot from a point, they don't slide up and down.

Fifa is a bit of a spoiler for PES in this sense, mainly because they're the proof that football games can look as realistic as an actual match.

Also I was left a bit deflated upon seeing a freekick in one of the videos where Xavi just strolled up to the ball in a laid back fashion and, with a fraction over half power, proceeded to hit the ball at the speed of light 2 feet over the bar. It's the same dire system as in 2008 where randomness is the deciding factor as opposed to skill.

That's probably my biggest concern actually, a lot of what I've seen looks the same. I've seen goals I've scored in PES2009 and, even more worryingly, I've seen a few that I scored a lot in PES6. I'm somewhat comforted by the relatively positive response coming from people whom have played the game, but I'm waiting until the demo hits before making the purchase. I haven't played a football game properly since WE10 so waiting doesn't bother me all that much, I'm just kind of miffed that we are well into the next-generation of consoles and we are still waiting for a football game to match the all-round bed-shitting that PES used to provide.

Hmmm, I sound a little bit of a negative Nancy here. I think I'm not posting as much as I haven't really been keeping up to scratch with the latest news.

One thing that I was wondering was that we've had a few "Big announcements" hyped this year and I'm struggling to remember what they were, was it just the inclusion of the CL or was there something else?

One of them was 360 degree control. Probably the worst kept secret as we all guessed it was coming, hence why the hype was lost.

Not sure what the others were. Maybe strategy sliders and cards? Europa League?

The sliders seemed a bit gimmicky to me when I first heard of it, hopefully it's been integrated in a semi-decent fashion.

The Europa League doesn't really interest me either. Considering the Champions League can't cobble together 32 competitive teams, I'm not overly thrilled to see who didn't make the cut.

after spending a few days digesting the FIFA demo I am actually looking forward to PES more than ever this year!!!

same old PES but better! I believe!!!

Tom will hate this, but if you don't like the camera angles (which had better options on old-gen, and ISS), please vote:

Is it my illusion or did the player animations really improve?
Man, they look so much more realistic, they look like running more in the human way compared to before.

I can see the speed of the gameplay has decreased compared to PES 2009, so its a lot less arcady now.

I think these are new videos.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

@ badgerman. I think you need to go back into exile.
just kidding, I hope you get that old WE/PES feeling that you had when you used to curl those Zico freekicks onto the bottom edge of the crossbar and into the net.

The ML is getting a nice major overhaul but there's no full league structure if thats your thing.

The thing is, the game looks to have been improved where it really needed it: off the pitch, the ML specifically. Also, I didn't think much of the 'cards' at first, but after seeing a few videos, I think they'll be really good.

My thing is winning freekicks and scoring them exactly as you mentioned - That is, with Zico rattling them in off the bar/post.

Infact, that's all I need. All I require is a Zico freekick simulator, after which I am sorted for life. Screw the rest of the fluff, I just want to do the same shot over and over until the pure satisfaction (..?) overcomes me, at which point I will welcome Death's grasp with a sort of half-way smile on my face.

I don't mind if the quality only improves slightly, but to decimate what was, for me, their most realistic feature in the form of set pieces has coincided with Konami's fall from grace. If I was having a shit game and nothing was going my way, I always knew that if I had a set piece anywhere inside of 40m then I had a chance. Nowadays freekicks are merely a process you have to go through before a goalkick.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

pes 2010 ps3 part 1 video you can see the 360,awesome:BOP:..

360 what??
If you mean free 360 movement then you're mistaking, Seabass himself said it in the dutch interview posted here this page or the page before, he said that they're working on it, but they didn't get at the point to implement it into the game (it's not good enough yet).

I'm not that impressed with the 360 movement at fifa from what i've seen or played...

360 degree movement has been officially announced if I remember well...

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I've always loved how much more bolder, accurate, and lifelike PES player models have looked compared to Fifa. Don't know but with PES player models, the way they each look is exactly how they feel when controlled. I mean look at Del Piero, he looks so freaking lifelike as the real life Del Piero it's ridiculous. I mean that pic SCREAMS!!! Del Piero. It's him, and you know it's him from head to toe from his lifelike appearance.

Can't wait for try this puppy.

By the way, what's the US/Europe release for this puppy anyway?

I just cannot agree there mate to be honest. I use the same technique I have pretty much always used and it works perfectly, as long as I get everything right.

The only difference now is that I rarely push forward on the run up. That previously gave you a more direct, powerful shot. It's all about the free-kick taker as well. All the players have different stats, different run-ups, differing techniques. What works for one player, wont work for the next. You need to know your players, thats paramount.

The Beckhams, Simao's, Xavi's have a totally different initial stance to the likes of Alex or Ronaldo. Some prefer the placed, floated, bent style strike and the Ronaldo's et al are all about power. You need to know exactly how much power to apply depending on which player your using.

I have been playing alot with Athletico Madrid recently, and Simao is their free-kick specialist. Now he is similar to Beckham in the amount of power required, due to his style and attributes. Taking a free-kick with Simao is completely different to smacking one with Gerrard or Ronaldo. The same technique, power level wont work with all the differing styles.

I find that between 20-25 yards out with Simao you need to have about half power on the bar. If you go over half power then you need to apply the X button to dip as soon as it leaves his foot. Otherwise the ball will fly over the bar. I also position the original shot a few yards to the right of where I want the ball to bend, then hold left as soon as I hit half power. Then depending where I have managed to stop the power bar determines when and how much dip I apply. Again, all relevant to the free-kick taker.

I think once you know a player, with practice, like you did with Zico, you always have a chance if you get everything right. You know as soon as you have struck the ball whether or not you have got all the variables correct. And if you have, there is a good chance your going to force a save, or better still, stick one in the back of the net.

I scored this the other night in the final of our weekly lads night tournament, against my brother. I had scored a few online previously with Simao from similar range, so I knew what I needed to do to have a good chance of scoring this.

The height is perfect, even though I hit it with a little more power than I'd wanted, I dipped it pretty quick and the bend took it away from the keeper. It was exactly what I was aiming for, and in it went.

Sorry for the dodgy camera, it was done on my phone again, but you get the idea.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Hilarious, and someone brings up the "realism" of Messi using his right foot.

Admittedly that was some strike with his left peg, but please, dont try and tell me Gerrard isnt a two-footed player, thats ridiculous. Stevie G has two cracking feet. And if you saw that in real life, you really shouldnt be suprised. :FAIL:

Great strike that Seppovich, and I love the animation of the follow through, his finishing body position is perfect for that type of powerful strike.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

England away at Croatia last year (I think?). Gerrard tried to take an easy short-range goal with the outside of his right foot rather than the easy left foot tap-in, which was the logical thing to do as he was to the left of goal. I remember thinking at the time that a player of Gerrard's stature should be comfortable with his left foot when he clearly isn't to me.

Technically he isn't.He's right footed player who can decently use his left but if he is two footed, he wouldn't doing the same things on both foots and so far I've never seen him do that.
