"Animations Hold The Key
They really do, not the drop dead gorgeous graphics.
PES 2010 is beautiful, something everyone is starting to fully understand with leaked screenshots and comparison pics. Whilst EA felt content with the graphical look of FIFA 09, Konami were busy working hard on making PES 2010 look better than anything anyone could expect. Thats great, but it isn't something thats made the series famous.
I was with a few friends today, and we spoke about the PES series and what was so great about them. Apart from the feeling PES gave you, animations kept coming up. Quite a few of us spoke of the buzz we got after seeing something new months into playing the game. That fresh feeling was there after spending an incredible amount of hours playing PES, something no other game could quite equate to.
Whilst playing PES 2010 on a daily basis is amazing, I can't help feeling that same fresh feeling of movements and animations hasn't match the feeling of PES5/6. I'm hopeful some of that comes back in the final code, but for it to be the benchmark again would be asking for too much. What's clear though is now that Konami have nailed the graphics, PES 2011 has to be solely focused on bringing back the animation feel of the old PES.
If it does it will finally step out of the shadows EA is casting with FIFA."

So, now, we have to wait until 2011?
Oh boy, here we go again

You were really expecting that Konami would make everything right and beat Fifa with just one year, after two lousy ones? If you did, then sorry but that deserves this smiley:

Well it is a bit alarming when Mr Fanboy himself doesn't sound THAT excited about the game. I expected him to be all over this one like the people that have been playing FIFA 10 are. I mean he even starts to look ahead for PES 2011 even if the game isn't out yet. That is not something you want to hear from a preview of the game.
When do you expect PES to be really good again then? And I'm not talking about beating FIFA, I'm talking about a version that a lot of people will enjoy (yes I know there are people that like 2009). The rumours was that Konami had been working on this one for several years and now it kind of seems that it was mostly the graphics that has been worked on. I don't think it is that surprising that people are disappointed.

Come now, if Mr A says it's good he is a blind fanboy and if he says it's bad it must really be bad. That just doesn't make any sense and should be discussed on the other site in any event.
I for one am happy with what I have seen so far and will be preordering. As for what you mentioned about the graphics. I don't know if you have been following the news but theres a helluva lot more improvements than just the graphics.
Ignore the fact that it is Adam and it is still alarming to me. He says it doesn't give the old magic feeling of PES 5/6 and that he looks forward to next years edition. That is a nice way of saying that you are disappointed. Obviously doesn't mean YOU won't like it, but I rather see a previewer praise the game then say "oh well, next year will probably be great".
And I said "mostly" because this is was the focus seems to be on. If you scan this thread it is all about the new graphics and lighting. I like that they added 360, but apart from that I don't know what else is that much different from 2009. Maybe I missed it, hopefully I did. And I'm talking about gameplay changes only, not modes.
Problem being the game looks phenomenal from the moment you see the players walking into the pitch, but from the moment the game starts i can't stop feeling this is 95% identical to pes 2009. Too linear, too arcadish, too static.
pes feeling said:a guy from WeArePes had tested PES2010 at pes league final for 10mn and he said :
- the build showen is 90% finish !
- after playing PES2009 he was shocked with the new slowed pace !
- a player can't run from one side to other side of the pitch ! he said NO WAY ! build a play is a must !
- graphics are very very stunning ! AMAZING !
- less bad sounds while passing,shooting,etc.......!
- ( sadly ) there's some response time issues in passing like FIFA !
- manual GK is present ! select it by pressing L1+R3 !
- running animations are a bit like PES2009 but more fluid !
- ball physic is great !
==> OVERALL he's happy and the game sounds very promising for him
Cheers !
Lami, from that list I don't like the two above.- after playing PES2009 he was shocked with the new slowed pace !
- running animations are a bit like PES2009 but more fluid !
Lami, from that list I don't like the two above.
The first one: For me it's not clear if he is positive or negative about the pace.
The last one is certainly not good. The animations of PES 2009 are horrible!
Not sure what to think about this...
