Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

First time I have ever seen a good representation of Rooney's face in a game. Well done Konami.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Seeing that Rooney pic my jaws dropped. For a second there I actually thought it was FIFA.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

They've done it better than Fifa, even if it's Fifa's cover star :APPLAUD:

Let's not forget PES2010's Rooney is a real photograph stuck on a solid structure, while FIFA10's Rooney is a real sculpted 3D structure made from scratch, where every pixel on his face can be animated.

No idea tbh. Probably they just want us to see what they want us to see. Anything else is NDA. Meh.

I realize that its more advantageous in terms of the implementation of proper 3d facial animation, but still if the results are better using the photo paste method, then why not?
Its not as if we want to see the players smiling and talking all the time (via facial animations).

For a footy game I think KONAMI's current method is sufficient enough.

Maybe they want us to show the best just before FIFA will be released. Sort of strategical moment :)

I agree Zakov. Why have a development team spend valuable time on 3d modelled face, that is not visible in any details 90% of the time when playing. PLus why spend all that time o a 3d model that basically looks crap.

The PES method is more than sufficient and looks excellent in replays and close ups. Cant believe that people really want them to smile or frown in 3d???

FIFA have over engineered a solution to a problem that isnt really there imho.

PEs2010 is looking promising overall. BUt proof is in the pudding as they say, roll on Oct 23:PRAY:

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Pic looks fantastic but gameplay should be in the same level what these screens. For years people loved PES not for graphics but for gameplay. There are the same situation what was 3 years ago.FIFA had nice grapahics but gameplay was terrible and PES now have nice graphics but gameplay is crap.

I tend to think that this pics were taken either with low resolution or low/medium quality, notice the shaders and shadows/lights differences between:

The texture of the hair on rooney is awesome. In the other shot (right) i assume thats fifa? he doesnt look stocky enough way too slim.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

@ Anderson,

Do you really believe that? The bottom picture has been touched up.

All companies do it, there was a great article on eurogamer/digital foundry the other week discussing at which point a touched up screengrab can still be considered an accurate representation of the game. There was an argument that a lot of early pictures are touched up because the retail release lives up to it months/years later, but that atm quite a few screengrabs are so touched up that the game never recreates it.

Or it could just be the different lighting in the tunnel. Both look good to me.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I hope they can make the same evolution gameplay wise next year as they did this year graphically

So are you saying FIFA has a generic texture for all the faces, or that the texture is procedural?

In both cases, its just for saving time in production, hence the low quality in Fifa faces.
