Someone suggested passing power and It seems like people would like the best of both worlds with manual passing while still maintaining player individuality, but a middle ground needs to be reached. I've been thinking about gauges ever since someone brought it up in this thread, what does everybody else think?[/QUOTE]

I'm very pleased that this point about the power bar was brought and l do agree with people wanting to have both worlds and the reason why fifa 10 has introduced this feature is because it was discussed in their community forum about changes and improvements u the fan would like to see in fifa10 . My point i've been stressing all along the importance of the feedback from the fan community and more importantly EA listened which makes me wonder if the problem here lies with konami or the pes fan base .e.g On pes community i 'm reading untucked kits to re introduce to pes2010 what the f....ck how does this feature improves this game

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Well that was Jimmy's argument. If you have total control as in FIFA and you perfect the art then it becomes unrealistic. Also how realistic is it for say Song to pass like Fabregas.

I still disagree firstly how long does it take to perfect the art the learning curve varies with each individual i.e with skilled players and beginners and even with the skilled players it becomes even harder when playing under pressure e.g online against a higher ranked player (which is debatable hee hee hee !!!) or raising the ante against the computer AI which was not happening in pes2008/2009 it all boils down to the user's preference and i agree with chris and this choice is only possible with fifa 10

I agree with this. The strong point of the better PES and ISS-games was allways that bad players played bad and good players played well.
For a long precise pass a good passser should have the ball.
A player with weak passing skills should cause the pass going a bit too short or too long or just out of position. He should only get it right by fluke. That is what I call realistic football.
So the way to play it is to first short-pass the ball to a better passer, who attemps this long precise pass.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Problem with the fully assisted passing in PES is that you end up passing the completely wrong player from time to time. And I doubt it is because how I aim, because I play fully manual on FIFA so my aiming is really good. And that is not realistic at all, no one in real life pass the wrong player (a perfect pass to the wrong player). The base direction and power should be exactly where I aim, and then the attributes should kick in and decide how bad/good the result is. That is how it works in real life, doesn't matter how good or bad you are, everyone AIMS correctly, but it is down to the skill of that player that decides how close to the place you aim for that the ball will end up.

If I tell any person to aim for the top corner in a penalty they will. But their skill will decide where it ends up. Sometimes even crap players will be lucky to get the ball to the place they aim.

I think I made my point clear.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Yes, your point is clear. It is the same point I just made in my post, so I fully agree with you :)

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I've been playing alot of PES2009 lately. I realised I hadn't played the standard league mode yet, so I kicked off a premiership season with the new Arsenal. Man it is hard, I have played and won offline multiplayer with the likes of China against Italy and Boca Juniors against Man U and Fc Barca. But the CPU is choking my midfield since my 1st 5 matches.

When playing league mode the biggest hindrance is stamina. PES system is retarded to say the least with players not being able to play more than 1 consecutive match. I hope this and the injuries are fixed for PES2010. If not we need to make a recommendation for PES2011 at least.

Very true. This has been ammended thankfully. In one of the other PES fansites the Master League preview states you can go a good 7-8 matches before the stamina becomes an issue. It also states that if you hire a good fitness coach, Level 3 or above, this increases your players stamina.

I also hope it effects their respective fitness/condition arrows accordingly, I cant imagine why it wouldnt.

Problem with the fully assisted passing in PES is that you end up passing the completely wrong player from time to time.

Very rarely if you play your percentages. A good PES player will keep this slight flaw to an absolute minimum.

And that is not realistic at all, no one in real life pass the wrong player (a perfect pass to the wrong player).

Oh yeah, thats why every single pass a pro footballer makes ends up at the feet of his team mate. Not even the 70's boys from Brazil could do this 100% of the time. There is no such thing as a 'perfect pass to the wrong player ??' It's a contradiction of term. If it's a perfect pass it goes to the right player. Otherwise it is far from perfect.

Spot on Han. This is realism. It's just a shame some people cant grasp the concept.

Choosing not to in preference to fully manual is fine. But you will always lose that player uniqueness by doing it that way. Period.

I'm sorry I don't see that, so anyone who's got weak passing skills can only pass by a fluke, so all lower league players can't long pass...?

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I'm not saying they should nail them or even land 7 out of ten, but they should make a percentage rather than just fluke one, The majority would be a bit too far ahead or too far behind to some extent.

You understand where Han was coming from Nick, lets not be picky. Of course lower league players can make long passes. Can they execute them consistently to the levels of Pirlo, Beckham, Xavi, Gerrard etc etc ?? No. Thats one of the reasons they occupy the lower leagues.

The easiest and most accurate pass in the real world is the short pass, along the ground, played with the instep. Ideally you would use these lesser players to make these simpler passes and let the creative vision of the aforementioned to 'make the play'. Hence the term, 'Playmaker'.

I suggest you pull out PES 5 or 6 Nick, as I know you dont like the next gen versions. And maybe you will be able to see the differences of which we talk.

Because you wont on Fifa mate.

Now can we please try and keep this on topic again. Or at least someone buy the Fifa fanbus driver a new Sat Nav system

Yep, agree this is a big plus, some players play nearly every game in a season...

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I have one question.

By going full-manual such as it is in Fifa, does this mean that you are in full control of EVERYTHING including passing, shooting, etc..?

If this is the case, then it is possible for someone to play perfectly with no errors since you are the one making all decisions for the player, rather then relying on the CPU/player uniqueness to determine things for you.

I did justify my post a little better and to my mind never took it off topic, I never mentioned anything but PES ;), I do see where you and Han are coming from it was the 'Fluke one' that I still don't agree with, someone in here did post "if the game will let you play that way it's the game that's broken".. "you should not have to play a certain way to make it work"...

Don't forget I'm a PES player at heart... :PIRATE:

If you ever tried it you would know why that sounds so stupid.

I know you are Nick. But I really do feel some of the magic of PES can be lost when you only play the other game. Refreshing yourself a little with what PES is all about will certainly ensure you see the huge differences between both concepts. The good and the bad.

I agree Han's 'Fluke' comment was maybe lost a little in translation. Han has been around the game though alot longer than anyone on these boards, fact.

It was a bit out of character for Chris I must admit. It was like one of 'us' posting that 'Pro' PES PS3 Mags preview in the FIFA 10 thread and saying, 'Hey, look at this, you so called called PES ex-pats better switch back immediately, because this Magazine says so'.

We just wouldnt bother. Play whatever you personally prefer. But then again, it just seems to be the pattern. Fifa followers always seem to feel the need to 'educate' us. :CONF:

Why ? again, Lord only knows.

Chris isnt usually this blatant though to be fair to him.

I still think that lower league players are no perfect passers. Like in real football players should play to their skills. If you play with a team without great passers you should try something different.
In other words: If you try to play different from your skills, you should not be able to do this perfectly.

I think you're underestimating how good passers and skills that Lower League teams has, especially the kind of "Lower League"-teams that is in PES.

Chris isnt usually this blatant though to be fair to him.
I thought that seeing as it was written by somebody who used to love PES it might be of more use than something written by a blatant fanboy, of either game. I also thought you might have something to say on his opinion of PES 6 and what he thought of PES 2009, to analyse why he might be saying the things he was saying about PES 2010. I thought that might have provided an insight into why he said what he said about PES 2010. I would have been interested to see what you thought of his opinion of the games.

But seeing as I'm being labelled a fanboy I won't bother posting in here again until next year.

I didn't have you down as someone who couldn't take the slightest bit of constructive criticism about the game without having to label it "blatant" fanboyism and/or accusing someone of trying to start a flame war which is the last thing I ever do when posting on a forum. Never mind.

EDIT: What annoys me the most is that if someone posted an article saying FIFA 10 wasn't very good in the FIFA 10 thread, nobody would attack the guy who posted it. Only the article. So yeah, laugh it up, and enjoy PES 2010.

I still think my opinion about pass and shoot a few pages before is the best way for a football game...
