Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Looks awkward. Passing looks totally wrong most of the times, specially when passers do a complete turn around to pass the ball or the ball just moves and the player almost didn't move the foot, just like the messi cross in one of the early videos. First time passes are just unrealistic most of the times, as well as heels.

There are a LOT of bad animations and the outocmes of the animation, and severe cuts in transitions. No way in hell you can fix this in one month. You need a lot more time to refine things like this, from a programmer point of view.

The thnig is, they have some good animations already in, but now they have the problem of reaction times, something Fifa had to fight with 2 years ago. That is the gap between both games, now PES will have to invest a lot in procedural animation the next year to start refining things and achieve the middle point between good animation and good gameplay.

It's a start, but every new video confirms they have a lot of work in front of them and this is just the first step. I know I sound like a broken record, but they have to improve collisions (the challenge at 3:20 must be a joke), passing (scripted auto passing is making this game to stall, there's no subtelty in any play) and pace (there is no reason to build up play in pes, it's only an option and there's no penalty to rushing your game, just like in fifa but worst).

Yes , i was stupid to believe that Konami can make a better game than PES 6. Examine old Press Releases and laugh. How brazen they can be .
4 years PES 6 ?? No 10x.

I agree, and I think another year will have to play pes6, a year of promises, just liked the trailer of PES2010, I saw the rest is equal to pes2009.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Well, now that seems clear that GC build is what we will get, i have to say it seems playable. Not a game to remember, but a step in the right direction. This should have been Pes2008. Its going to be difficult for Konami to catch up, but Im sure they will.

Pes6 is the last PES I bought, and if the online is good, Pes2010 will be the next one.

I didnt expect more than a polished version of pes09, and thats what we get.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Man, I'm as pessimistic as they come but it's hard to tell much other than the animations are a little poor still and the mo capping is not fully done yet from the vid's.
As for game play it's hard to tell until you get your hand's on it, they have done a lot of work off field though not enough to make me happy but it's at least a product that has been worked on this year...

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

What's with all this talk about ISS/Konami etc? This is a PES 2010 news and rumours thread, keep it on topic lads.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

where did you play that build mate?

sebass just came to my house and said i would like you to have this as i couldnt say no to the man cause its just not right is it as he came all the way from gamescom to give this gift to me, he chose me because he saw me play football while on was on holiday in japan he said, couldnt speak to him much as he had to go to finish the 0.1% of the game for release as this will consist of new goals and make edit boots but it seems brilliant, i will answer any questions on it just for you my friend. i might even upload the game on the internet for everyone to enjoy, what do u think m8;)

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I´ll copy every "50% build" "70% build" piece of cr*p post to show the years to come, and i´ll save everyone´s time from this discussions.
Just hope fifa10 for pc is the same as for ps3 and xbox360 (last years fifa was a sh*tload of sh*t for the pc) because that´s all the futbol i´ll be playing.
And you see what happens when a robot building country makes a human sport game, you get human lookalike robots running like robots and moving like robots :P

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Well there you have it. A bit of honesty from Suff should have completely confirmed it for all those still being hypnotized by the build percentage hype machine.

I've said all along that the game has now been showcased and TBH it looks pretty good to me. The Seabas video summed up PES of old, with the great attacking gameplay (a tad too fast) the tension of searching for an opening and then to scramble a goal at the back post. This is why i fell in love with the series and to that end it looks back on track with some outstanding graphics.

Behold (not the return of the king, because its still 2 years behind FIFA) but the return of a thoroughly enjyable, highly rewarding game of football.

look forward and forget what we had and try and embrace what we have got.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Gawd, this thread sure uses some cleaning up. I just scrolled over 4 odd pages of rubbish.(well most of it) :p

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Not really to continue the "build talk" but I believe it is possible for the so called media build to be better "animation-wise" than the GC build. That however means absolutely nada if Konami cant work out the issues because if they cant then you will only see those things in future releases.

All I have seen so far (the better videos) and all that is confirmed still leaves me optimistic. I still think this year PES will have a better gameplay experience than FIFA - the animations may look sub-par but the representation of football will be satisfying.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I am really going to give FIFA a try again this year but 09 was not 2years ahead of 2009 in terms of gameplay - I dont get why so many believe this or have been brainwashed to continue to spit this out.

The only concession I will make is freedom of movement (but that felt sluggish most of the time) The animations were advanced but many of them (especially the ball controls from a high ball) were like watching a bad sci-fi show about a time loop and play mostly consisted of sprinting or tricking to get off a finesse shot.

I am not arguing the whole game because the other game has many things which are just down to them being a behemoth in the industry.

Konami really has to sort out their online component because that is the world we live in and any game that comes out now cant afford to fail in that area if it expects to be a top line title. - This is more important than running animations, licenses, nets etc.

To all FIFA fans:D

Seabass interview @ eurogamer.de:
"In our opinion FIFA was better than we last year. They did not chase us, they were much better."
"Of course it is very important for us how good or not good FIFA is, but that is not the main concern", says the developer legend. "Much more shocking was to see what the PES users were thinking.
We saw they were not happy with PES 2009 and that was very shocking for us and created much pressure.
Due to these reactions we owe them a much better game for 2010."

Thanks for your constructive input to the thread. Seriously it is not laughable its just not a great replication of human action, however it still looks better than all the other PES games before it.

Don't bother with silly comments it adds nothing, except an attempt to spoil everyone else's good work.

Seabass just admitting what everyone else thought last year, well apart from IGN. :)

Nice to see him being honest about PES 2009.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

WENB member "Exclusive" has played the game and had this to say:

Fellas,

Yesterday it was my turn to visit Gamescom, of course PES 2010 was one of my top priority's. And i have to say: i was happily surprised (especially after reading a lot of negative previews / posts...). I just watched a few PES video's Gari posted: man they gives the wrong impressions!! The game's speed is soooooo fast in the vids, but when you actually play it, it's far slower!!! Guys thrust me: the games speed is ACE!!! A touch slower comparing to PES 2009, which is a good thing!

I played like 6 matches of PES 2010 (and watched a few), let me line out my thoughts:
- Pace of PES2010 is absolutely spot on!! Slower than PES2009, but not as slow as FIFA'09 was.
- Graphics WOW!! Up close; absolutely stunning!
- Ball animations: what an improvement!! I feel this is undervalued in most of the previews: but what a difference!! The ball feels so much more like real life, so much more free. For example: i was playing against my mate and both of our players bumped into each other, with the ball in the middle... so the ball bounced up a little into the air: something you have NEVER seen before in any of the PES-series! Also when dribbling, the ball moved so different... different in a very good way, more freely... really adds to the gameplay big-time... ball movements looked so convincing!
- Much spoken animations: Definitely a big improvement compared to PES2009! So many more little stuff we already witnessed! There were some animations of 2009 indeed, but the game didn't feel 2009 at all (more new ones than 2009 ones)! The running animations were the only thing looking bad, the rest of it really looked good. Especially the shooting and passing animations: the boots of the players really connect beautiful (although i always remember the silly Henry goal after Messi 'way too powerful' chip cross in one of the video's, i didn't witnessed such a bug!). And with Konami stating many animations aren't implemented yet: we're in for a treat! You really discover new stuff game after game! I think it's all pretty decent
- About the Team's Tactics: you can definitely see a variety in gameplay!! There were only 4 teams to pick from; but all 4 really felt different (in default). You can clearly see Dani Alves has 'Overlapping Run', especially when you pass the ball around a couple of times; he slowly positions himself deeper and deeper up the pitch, superb! Took a peek at the players CARD system, but like the Teams Tactics: i didn't adjust any though. But thrust me: more individuality in Teams & Players, definitely a big plus!!
- Loading times... MASSIVE; no loading times at all (ok 5 seconds of stadium watching, but it pops to the stadium right away!)! What a great feature
- Goalkeepers: you can no longer round the keeper (as easily) no more!! Definitely a big plus! Also made a stunner of a save (i used manual diving - by pressing square + triangle) when my mate had a clear chance, and boy did the goalie save it! Also felt like the goalie spilled the ball far less! It happened one time, but hey: it would be wrong if the goalie never spilled a ball. In the 6 games there was however a big error / bug of the goalie: i fired from long range shot with Babel (i wanted to see if long-range shots would indeed be possible now), and (like real-life LOL) it really wasn't the best of shots - pretty powerless, but the goalie looked hilarious! No attempted of save what so ever! Hope it was a bug!
- I didn't really see the new 360 movements in the game. But i did see a more variety in dribbling; i guess it was more like 32 way movement. Changing directions when running is a bit harder (maybe also because of the lower pace). Dribbling without pressing the R1 is very rewarding too!! Without pressing R1, someone like Ribery is dribbling pretty fast! Again this felt so different from 2009, in such a good way!
- The physical players collision system has developed too! It all looked more natural / real life!! Also one big improvement: when you tackle an opponent, you can also now sort of 'hit' your own teammate an accidently make him stumble (Fifa09 already had this, where PES2009 didn't show this much... but like i say: not anymore it does!).

Also took my time to look at the player stats (although it was in freaking German!). Henry had a 95 for 'sturm'... meaning attack i guess LOL! He still has a super shot! Benzema and Gourcouf were pretty good too. Fernando Torres was so good in the game: really something special! And talking about special, Messi was superb! The stats looked pretty on spot / similar to last year. Arbeloa is terrible with the new overall status set at 69! But a well; i guess he's not that great in real-life too!

IMO if this demo would hit as the real version, it would already be a good game!! The feel of PES like the old days is definitely back!! But if PES 2010 wants to be titled as 'The return of the King' it definitely needs tweaking!! But i really have faith in Konami: they will take out all the bugs, add more animations... it could mean Konami brought the king back!! Fifa 10 looked superfluid in motion, but it didn't feel right for me personally. I've always been a PES player, although i bought Fifa 10 too (which lacked action to me, and never felt rewarding scoring)... and the special feeling PES used to create, was pretty much back again!!!

I'm really exited after Gamescom!!! Finally PES felt Next-gen... i'm looking forward to the things Konami still has in store for us!! 23th of October is most definitely going to be a great day!!

PS: My GOD... God of War 3 is sooooooooo SUPERSTUNNING!! Full HD i pure glory... only 1 fitting word for that game: it's BRUTAL!!

THX for the appreciation fellas! I was really skeptical before playing... but as soon as i saw it i really loved it!

Everyone that is still playing PES2009, no doubt; you'll love it!! PES2009 is really not a great game... i still play it, but if i'm honest it's nothing special. PES2010 really made progress... for the first time PES sets it's mark Next-Gen! With some right tweaks and stuff, it can really be something special! Already it's a very decent game!

Almost forgot something very funny:

(like i said before) I was at Gamescom playing PES2010 yesterday. After watching some other guys play, me and my mate were finally able to play PES 2010! After we selected our teams (i was playing with Liverpool, my mate picked Barca) and made some changes to the squad, it was time to play.

Right after the kick-off i passed the ball round like 6 or 7 times and Gerrard (who i put more up front), was in a good position to score, and i did!! Nailed it in the first attack. But than it happend: (the screen / game) PES 2010 freezed!!! A major bug!! So i had to call one of the lovely Konami girl and let her look at the problem. She went to the back (would really be a suprise if a girl would fix the problem hey LOL), and they restarted PES2010:

It was running on freaking Windows XP!!! Haha... no Xbox360 what so ever... the Xbox controllers were nice, nut windows started and shortley after the file PES2010.exe was started!! Haha so funny!! And when it started, it went right to the menu! Hilarious isn't it?!! Didn't see it happen with anyone else in the hours afterwards... think it was just a unfortunate bug!

Sorry for the late reaction, been busy the last hours... but i'm back now!
This video shows the exact game's pace (or very very similar)!! It's a good representation of the game's speed!

The response time in PES2010 is slightly slower, but i'd say it's adjusted like the game's overall pace: a touch down / slower! In the 6 matches i played, i never once felt like "oooh the player should've hit the shot faster!". It's just a notch slower, but so is the game... so i don't see it being a problem at all! In all honesty i didn't pay attention to it, couse it never felt like a problem to me! I think it's a plus!

To put it in your terms LOL, so far the Gamescom code scores:
Great graphics + decent animations (apart from the running) + good response time + very TOP ball animations / movements + noticable tactics play = very good game. I'd say it scores a very good 8 right now.

Need to improve aspects:
- More fluid gameplay
- running animations
- Goalkeepers
- And of course ONLINE

If they fix it... well man; i can't even imagine!!! Right now it's looking very hopefull!

In addition to my previous preview, i'd like to point out even more things from the Gamescom demo:
- Like spoken of in previews before, players now feel much heavy-er! I think that's the basic element why you cannot dribble and turn as easy as PES2009. If you cut back, it takes a little bit more time to actually move into that new direction... meanwhile defenders still keep closing you down, thus resulting in more difficult dribble plays.
- I know i already pointed out that the loading times before you start the game are super fast / no more a fact, but even throughout the whole game there are hardly any loading times at all!! Between subs, or the first & second half: you can play immediately!!
- I know some member posted a reaction before about rain matches, and that the rain itself seemed to be gone / invincible. But let me relief you all: you CAN still see rain falling down during a match!! This also looked very genuine! The effect of rain during a match was similar to PES2009.
- At one point during the game i made a stunning through pass (low) with Xavi to put Messi in a 1-on-1 situation (should've scored). Strangely as this may sound, that pass itself even felt better than when it would've been given on PES2009. Let me explain: in PES2009 many times you give a through ball, you still have to adjust the receiving player with R2 to actually get it! If that would happen with someone like Puyol (not the best passing player), it would be convincing... but in PES2009 i feel like this also happens with players like Xavi, Fabregas etc. The pass i'm referring to in PES2010 of Xavi, was on spot and Messi didn't have to adjust anything (no R2 straight to goal). It only happened once (during 6 games), but i think it's spot on! I bet it has to do something with the player skill CARD i saw Xavi have: Pinpoint Pass!! Passing in general felt better.

I guess that's it for now... if someone has questions; feel free to ask!

Sorry for the long post guys.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Guys, keep something in mind: suff is a Fifa fan, and as a human he is, seeing what Fifa 10 he sure changes his opinion about some stuff.. He(and some people that tend to always believe what others say, be it positive or negative at the point of changing their opinion again, to bad, making sad statements some times) is ignoring some facts, like various statements saying that gc code is one month, and seabass actually having a laugh about the differences, and reckoning that Fans didnt like pes09, and that some changed to Fifa09 that ended up being being the best, and that shocked them... The loads of money spent on 200 more employees, expensive motion capture technology, beautifull shiny 60 fps flawless graphics... To me, all this tells me that theres more to come, there has to be.
