PES2010 discussion thread

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

phew

alot of speculation going on at the moment. I still think 360 is the feature, but i am worried of how they can incorporate it into a game that had nothing like it 3 months ago.

I would have thought the amount of bugs to come out of a new feature as big as this would be massive let alone the actual programming to make it fit into the game.

I pray that we dont get a next gen game full of bugs.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

in manual it seems to pass the ball in any angle you want in fifa09
I know, I was on about if 360 degree dribbling was in PES - there wouldn't be much point being able to run at all those different angles if the passing was done for you or still had the 8-direction limit for manual passing.

I think it's 32 direction manual passing in FIFA at the moment.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

everything points out to 360 degree.....

I hope so as this will really free up the game and with 360 degree movement it surely puts to bed the shit turning and running.as it could surely not be possible when having this degree of freedom.

Ya never know with Seabass

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Surely 360 movement is beyond the scope of the capabilities of PES2010, I thought it was just going to be a touch-up of 2009 with knobs on it; if this is indeed true, what a surprise it will be.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

if it is in then its a big shock considering they have not mentioned it.

Gameplay, by the sounds of it will become completely different to all the past shit of circa 3

When is the announcement??

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Well it seems it might be 360 Dribbling which is a great feature for a football game. Thing is should this be one of PES's main priorities? If im right PES does have manual passing but its on the Analog stick or the D-Pad. Could be a easy fix if they can add this to "X" or "A" with the 360 dribbling.

Im slightly sceptical about it all but slowly getting more intrigued with the PES news. :))

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Not sure though. Its just speculation. Someone mentioned Konami always released news on a Wednesday. Here's hoping.

I heard that it was to be this week, so it would make sense to be midweek, but ya never know.

I think the community will go crazy if the rumours are true and will also be a big surprise to EA.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Well if FIFA's PS2ish PC engine can handle 360 degrees (just been confirmed) than why not the PES engine. I just find it weird that they let magazines play the game without 360 in it, doesn't make sense. I mean if it is such HUGE deal with 360, wouldn't you want every magazine to be able to hype it like they do with FIFA 10?

Maybe they felt the pressure from EA because they let everyone play their game early so they had them play it without new animations and 360 even if they really didn't want it. Still doesn't make much sense.

From what Adam write it sounds like 360 OR some sort of implementation of Euphoria. But it is the same thing here, why implement such a huge thing late in the development process. I can see them implementing it if it is only activated on tackles for example because it wouldn't matter in gameplay, so it wouldn't need as much testing as a game that was built around it.

First I though it had to do with online, like 10 vs 10 because he said he is old school (offline player), but with all the other statements it doesn't add up.

I'm confused and intrigued.

wait, the pc version has 360 dribbling? i thought most pc's cant handle stuff like that

I was surprised to see it. From what I know they don't even have the same animation system so I'm very interested to see if it is some sort of poor man's version of 360 movement where the ball maybe is a little more sticky to the feet or something.

I do hope it is 360 in PES with options to use manual controls too. Would be a nice slap in the face if it is 360 considering EA brags about it in every interview (well if it is a good implementation of it and not just a quick solution to counter EA).

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

From what i can see 360 dribbling really isn't such a difficult thing, the reason pes hasn't had it imho is the way it feels ie when you twist and turn it feels heavy and weighted with 8-way movement, 360 could lose this feel from my experiences in character control.

When a character is turning, limited angles can be made to feel like the players is moving to them with weight etc

Now with 360 movement this can still be done with making characters lean into the turn based on the angle, works great in 3rd person games etc. However, with a player having a ball at his feet he really isn't able to move 360 degrees/around in circles with the ball while keeping control, the ball just sticks to his foot and it will lose the feel of weight the player has, players without the ball are a different matter and should have 360 movement.

There are so many ways to do it right and wrong and it's something that could make or break pes.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Well what you describe isn't what people mean with 360 degree. It is not ice hockey movement, it is just that whenever a player touch the ball the outcome will be in the direction you're holding the stick. He will only turn after touching the ball so it's not like the old games where you turned in circles and the ball was part of the animation.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I actually think its gonna be Euphoria.
All the previews before mentioned that Konami hadn't implemented a lot of new animations yet, maybe they were still working with Euphoria + waiting for the animations from the messi mocap session.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I would love it to have a new engine that has better collision detection/movement. However, Euphoria isn't a physics engine and therefore doesn't use mo-capping as it's completely organic and those animations are within the programming itself. Euphoria creates animations on the fly. Therefore, why would they bother going to the effort of mo-capping Messi etc.

YouTube - Gamehelper.com - Euphoria Demo - Dev Tools

See also here about the Backbraker game: http://forum.backbreakergame.com/showthread.php?t=3048&page=5. Euphoria is not a physics engine, it just adds life to characters by creating animations on the fly.

I've got a feeling about the 360 movement being the big news, purely based on the hints dropped in the podcast and on the forums, as discussed earlier in this thread.

EDIT: This is just what I've read by the way, I'm a bit out of my depth when it comes to programming etc so feel free to correct me, I'm sure many will :)

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

stop talking about 360 degree
cz its not gonna happend

and u will see soon or in gamescom
that pes2010 have only 4 degree's
hehehehe

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Eurphoria can create animations on-the-fly but they can also work with mo-capped animations. You can see that in this video:
http://download.naturalmotion.com/filesfrom/Sig_05_Reel_Web_Large.avi

How this would work in PES is during a slide tackle, they would use mo-cap for the slide and when the players collide, blend into Euphoria to create the reactions and then blend back into mo-cap to get up.
Its amazing because this can mean EVERY slide tackle, goalkeeper save, header, etc. will ALWAYS be different.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

Guy's it won't be 360 degree movement. 360 isn't something that can be added just like that. It needs a new animation system that revolves around it.... now 16-directional movement, maybe.

Adam said it was something he always used to say the game doesn't need. It's a new physics engine dictating how collisions, tackles and player jumps will look. KONAMI is already officially employing Endorphin (a branch of Euphoria) on the latter's official website.

My nominees:

1) Physics engine
2) 16-direction movement
3) 360-degree movement.

I would have said "10 vs 10" but Adam already said that was wrong.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I hope it is 360 degree control rather than Euphoria - yes I appreciate Euphoria and think it's brilliant but out of the two things I think 360 degree movement would make the game more of a simulation than players becoming smart ragdolls when they fall/dive.

Re: PES2010 News & Rumours thread

I think many of us will get hughly dissapointed after the news after all the enthousiasm. Well, I'm used to dissapointed by Konami these years... I don't think Konami will hold a secret with the 360 degree movement. EA Sports doing this allready and I think that Konami will do something different rather than the same as EA Sports. It's just my feeling dough. I just hope to play 2 great football games.
