Exactly, they took a choice away from us for no apparent reason. There are higher levels of assistance if you want them but no real option of a semi assisted variant anymore. I'm holding out some hope that the passing is a bit more free this year on PA1, in a few days we'll find out.
Pesep said on Twitter that PA1 is almost like manual now. I expect that's bollocks though, because he's rarely if ever tried manual, I'd guess.

It's impossible to play PES at one of these events and produce an objective review. I wouldn't uncritically accept feedback from individuals whose objectivity will be subconsciously compromised. All big PES fans, excited to be there, playing with the immediate 'fresh' feeling of a new PES game, and little time to thoroughly dissect the gameplay. Such factors will undoubtedly cloud ones judgement.

We all know that Konami are great at hiding the flaws in the initial stages, and the game needs to be played for months before we can fully identify the problems.

Couldn't agree more. I barely watch any of the videos that come out too.

If these streamer numpties are having to increase assistance I take it as a very good sign. Will there be proper assistance filters online though?

Obviously there is a difference between PA1 and PA3, but will it be enough to make PA1 at least semi assisted? We don't know. The demo will show us.

So true. I once played PES 2011 before release because I was reviewing it for a dutch gaming site, and I made the mistake too believe it was great after 3 hours of playing. I was wrong. And ashamed haha.

It takes time for errors to occur and noticed when it comes to PES.

Suddenly some hope about PA1 again, haha, this is so PES, every year the same thing. It's comforting in some disturbed way, that things stays the same. ;)

Anyway, strict online filters is a must. When u use manual passing in Divisions and set it to "similar settings" u only face other manual passers but is it the same for PA1 etc? Or can u play PA2 when u have PA1 and set to similar settings?

Exactly right. You nailed it. Plus the feeling of "gratitude" toward the environment you in, also adds to the over-estimation of game's "goodness"
Heck I even downloaded pes2015 yesterday, and was surprised to like it. Here again, the fresh feeling of PEs is in action.

When it comes to assistance levels I wish that Konami would rename them. Instead of PA3, PA2, PA1 etc it should be something like Sunday League, Non-League, Pro and International. Then it would be interesting to see how many of these so called superstar players would play on the Non-League setting.

I have been to a couple of Pre release Les events and you do get wrapped up in the hype and thankful to be there as an insider. But also with any new Game it hard to find faults in human vs human as such and online which is important to me isn’t obviously shown as such.

Keepers, Shooting are my gripes

Very true.

I actually think Human v Human PES is good. Although the difference between the assistance levels kills the experience.

I agree!
I haven't played any offline modes aside from exhibition/training matches. The only reason I'm only able to enjoy PES2018 is I have a regular human opponent who's as same skill level as me. We both play on 0-pass assist and we use the "manual lob/cross mod". We even use the same NESA custom camera settings. We're also less than 25km apart so it's virtually lag free online.

I believe I'll still enjoy PES2019 because of the reasons I stated above, plus a few minor improvements PES2019 has to offer.

Is it worth $60? I'll wait for the 50% discount by October.

Due to it being so assisted, I've been forced into manual which I enjoy, so I'm ok, but would prefer PA1 to be closer to manual by default.

exactly. I use to play manual offline and PA1 online, because of the lag. Somestimes the matchmaking puts you against someone who has a bad connection and its impossible to play manual, so a PA1 less "assisted" would be great for online.

I was just checkin on this FIFA eSports WorldCup thing.
I admit I don't even know what eSports are. I never played online. I never even cared to read. I never played MyClub or Ultimate Team. So I have no idea whatsoever. So I was literally SHOCKED to see that actual companies and brands invest on sponsoring these kids or adults that are ranked as the best. It's fucking unbelievable.
These guys on Twitter thanking this brand and that brand and saying stuff like "I will do my best no to disappoint and fulfill every objective" like he was an actual real football player being interviewed. I'm utterly disgusted and beyond anguished with this situation I completely ignored.
I heard a lot of talk about the PES LEAGUE and eSports, etc, but I never really stopped to inform myself about what it was all about. How naive of me to think it was only two people playing online each from their home to win or lose a virtual football game.

how hard would it be to just alternate the default each year having a different default PA1 or PA0.

That way you also change the way people play, who plays, and what the community is like.

the more positivity folks come back with following these press opportunities is a failure on their part to improve the game.

its all placebo just like the 10 page feedback questionnaire that bags you bonus GP.

demo next week means jack all after being burnt last year. have to wait and see what manualers here who buy the game think for an honest opinion.

$60 what version is that for? Basic version here is only £34 and ill find it cheaper before release. Think i paid £28 delivered last year for ps4

games like FIFA/PES are very poor examples of esports - that you rely on AI to make runs etc means they are NOT skillbased games to me (unless you have 2 equal teams with identical setups and assitance playing aginst each other, i guess but that wouldn't pull views hence no advertising revenue).

to me, games like r6 siege ARE skill/experience based and make for better esports. you control your loadouts, your playstyle, your teamwork, etc etc.

Lol. Dude Fifa and Pes are the tip of the iceberg. There are pro guys on League of Legends earning literally millions.. and I'm just naming this because I used to (poorly) play it years ago.

It's US$59.9 for the steam version.
I need to buy 2 copies. One for my cousin. US$120 is too much for me.
Last year, I'm able to buy cdkeys on Instant-gaming for 22.65 EUR each at around November if I remember correctly.

I learned all these e-"sports" pros people (teens mostly and sone adults) basically through LoL as @Madmac79 .You will be more shocked if you see their attidute and their behaviour in social media and streams. The most of them in any competitive game genre fps,moba,pes/fifa are ultra arrogant people without any motivation to inspire anyone about something or "tutor" about how to play or get bettet. They act as spoiled children who only flame to less skilled players, being ironic, humiliating other players. In general they are a bad example of non-canon and antisocial behaviour, more like sociopaths.
Ok i know, it is not completely their fault since they are technically "children" who earn some thousands or millions of money too easy. But their sponsors and financial supporters should advise them to behave with manners closer to the "fair-play" ideology,as they do with all athletes in every sports. In the end they are called e-sports, so with word sport comes some responsibility like sportsmanship and fair-play even if it is a fake one for political correctness.

Yeah, it's like they are superstars. Which is hilarious because they are just a bunch of losers who can't get laid so all they could do is stay home and play video games.
I hope I'm not offending anyone here.
Thats super shallow... wow.

Thought there would have been some footage of today's matches uploaded to YouTube by now. Eager to see that Pesep chap's videos, as he has recorded matches showing the impact of the different pass assistance levels. That should be an interesting watch.

Well I don't think there are pro players here.. so you're hardly offending somebody :D.

It's more like a bit of a generalization from your part, to be honest. Somebody else could easily find hilarious watching grown men talk about football videogames, player stats and stuff like we daily do here. It's hard to draw the line objectively when you aren't really in that subculture or you don't have a good knowlegde of it.

I'm not saying this to attack you (I don't even play the game anymore since years- luckily, I'd add, as it was the most trashy and toxic videogaming experience I've ever had), as I used to think more or less the same as you before getting to know it. It's just that the discussion is way mooore complicated and articulated than this and you only realize it when you are informed enough on the whole E-Sports/Competitive online gaming topic.
