I don't know who is arguing for the claim I've emboldened. Not in those terms; certainly not me. But PA2/3 does affect shooting, and it's a demonstrable effect even in PES2018.

I'm surprised that's even a remotely controversial thing to point out here. It's one of the many reasons I abhor the hand-holding assistance settings.


Maybe it's a question of point of view/definitions. If I understood correctly, you said that having the possibility to adjust your player quickly due to more precise passing is going to lead you to better shoots. That's fine, I agree with that, but when I think of the pure mechanics of shooting in Pes (or any other football game) I think about what happens just the very precise moment I press square and which conditions my player is in in that istant. So all I can consider about in that fraction of time are player posture, used foot, maybe stats (when they were effective, in another life) or special abilities, but not what came just before.

I get it, of course a better/easier pass will lead to a better posture and a better chance. But I still PERSONALLY find it a too indirect of a cause.
 
That gameplay looks mediocre at best to me. AI still looks tedious to play against, they seem to always be playing a game of "let's try to score a goal with the least number of passes possible", crossing from stupid positions instead of maintaining possession etc. It's dumbed down end to end high octane football with backheels and flicks as a substitute for hold up play/physicality and clearly no where near manual with some of the impossibly perfect passes being pulled off.
 
The AI gk behavior for the first goal (around 8:00) is purely awful, He has to come out really.

Loving the grass though!

Beyond awful.

Hope the demo proves me wrong but looks like the AI is simply going to be dreadful to play against. I appreciate its not a concern for the myClub and online only players, but for offline players like me it's just nowhere near good enough.

You're lying when you said you're using "deep defensive advance tactics" but you're not.
To me, it looks like you're trying to defend the CB's bad positioning by telling me it's your fault.
It's not your fault, you're not even controlling the CB's.

If you'll admit that the CB's bad positioning is because of bad programming/coding it's fine with me.

I see the difference between our conceptions of what the shot itself is, and I think you're right in spelling out those differences.

I am definitely thinking of "the shot" in a slightly larger frame (a few more split seconds, and the conditions present in them). And within that frame, PA2 makes an impact. It's not crucially determinative, in the way that (I hope...) stats are. But it makes an impact.

Maybe if you narrow in on a smaller frame, you can describe the shot mechanism in such a way that the accuracy of a pass has nothing to do with it. I'm fine with that description too; it doesn't contradict, since it's on a different level.
 
For those who are pissed about the way PES is going year after year. I have an honest and sincere question. Didnt you consider taking a breake?

I played FIFA since 2008, and the game stressed me too much after "Ultimate Team focus", after FIFA 15, i guess, that i had to stop playing it in 2017 (also this year). I just realized that EA wouldnt change the gameplay the way i think they should (less assisted, less arcade and focused in Career Mode), so i quit.
I know when you "love" some game you wish with your heart that it takes the path you think would be better, and stopping claim about some points should not be the right decision in this case. But sometimes, when something that you love starts to stress you more than amuse, maybe, its time to rethink.
 
Regarding pass assistance and shooting, it is definitely strongly connected. Like someone mentioned before, it's all about how much time you have to set your self for shot. With pass assistance on higher lever, you can shoot sooner as you received better pass and don't need to "take you time to control it". It's all connected, pass+pressure of the opponent+your input with the shot.

Which makes it even more unfair online when you want to play football without auto correction on higher pass assistance.

unfortunately defending is like what we saw in the PES2018 online beta, squeezing the pressure button will cause you to leave gaps for the opposition to exploit, hell I lost to TheVernimator (PES streamer, from PESUniverse) 5 -0 for that very reason me squeezing the pressure button and plus he's a fantastic dribbler so I panicked.

so of course there were high scoreline due to people getting to grips with the defending and if your playing someone who's already been to windsor and played E3 code they already know what to expect.

and if your taking about a co-op match these are high scoring to players having to switch between players

This was quite possibly the best reason why I found the beta do enjoyable and I had so much wins while playing on manual against assisted players
 
Seriously, just give me pes 2018 beta with as much fouls as we 9 and Im fine with that.

It frustrates the hell out of me whenever the pes 2018 beta gameplay comes to my mind because then I realize Konami is 100% capable of producing a very fun game for most of us but its like they dont want it.

I remember there were so many positive comments about the beta all over twitter, people asking to noy change the pace, just to fix button switch lag, but for some reason they fucked up everytning in the end.

Not that the beta was perfect, far from it. Bear in mind it was 1vs1 also, not against the crap, boring Ai they programmed, but I did have very good memories. It was very addicting

I think beta was the pes with the perfect pace and no Ai interference/script, people were punished by their mistakes and vicious

That's right! Shooting from a perfect pass is easier than shooting from a slightly misplaced pass because the one who shoots needs to do some adjustments first.

Something that I have been noticing

If you reallu want to see what is Konami vision on the game, just take a close look at how Cpu AI play and you will understand.

Ok, I know gamespeed on youtube videos is misleading. I heard that 100x time. I get it.

But that does not matter here. Its about behaviour. The Attacking CPU AI is ridoculous "straight to the point". They get on attack everytime with a blink of an eye with two or three passes.

The thing that I am realizing is that each year, Konami are more and more SIMULATING the way the so called professional PES players play at Konami events. Thats one the reasons why theres lack of ai variety. The challenging that Konami want to provide when it comes to CPU programing is more and more like you are playing a pro player, and not the team real life counter part.

I am 100% sure about what Im talking aboit here after looking at what happened at 3:00.

That move in wich the player lets the ball passing throught his legs to dribble the opponent became an abuse and cheap way to dribble plast players online, too efficient, and I can bet now all you want you will see Ai doing that very often.

Thats why I'm very optimistic about the ai. In previous games after the header they make unrealistic things like long ball to the side or other stupid things. Now they give the ball back with one touch. Thats football guys. Very nice! This is a programmed intelligence and not every situation, not every run, not every position they hold or leave is perfect but if they do sometimes things like this I'm happy with it.
