Yes I know what you mean about being narrow - I ensure I sign attacking fullbacks to provide the width and I always have them high up the pitch.

That comes back to bite me on the ass at times though as CPU only has to play a long ball over the top.
 
So this year I have been playing ML as Nottingham Forest, it has been fun. About 4 seasons in and for the most part it has been enjoyable other than those games you just realise early on you aren't supposed to win where the ai kicks into one touch hyperdrive mode. Other than that and the Pre patch cross spamming it has been good fun.

While they seem to have kind of sorted out the ai cross spamming, when playing online does anyone else notice how little you can do to defend it. You MUST intercept the cross 2 or 3 yards in front of the striker. If be is within a yard and presses shoot he will get to it before the defender without fail. It's like the attacking teams input always sits higher up on the priority than the defending. I can have hit square, power bar is up, be in front if the striker and probably 99% of the time my defender ignores it or doesn't react and the striker taps it in.

I feel like this years game has been great and with the right opponent it is glorious, however, the defensive side of things desperately needs an overhaul to even the game out a bit. It's so weighted towards the attackers and that isn't how football should be.

Tbf they already have. The mode feels essentially the same one I played in 18 and 17. And really it's a shame because a mode that is as player focused as that one requires proper logic more than anything.

My teammates are decided by the AI. My tactics are decided by the AI. Changes in match are decided by the AI. If the AI cannot make good decisions, it's a recipe for disaster.

That said, I expect BAL to remain in the game and remain untouched.

I haven't. Mostly because I like to dribble and am a freaking foul magnet. AI murders me like I'm playing 2017 lol

It's been the same way for me,until yesterday.
Suddenly CPU are laser guided when tackling me,it's like a different game for me
I usually draw 4-10 free kicks a game,last game, zero!
All the sloppy tackling is replaced by perfect steals.
Hope it's the scripting,I just moved up to first place ,could be be that.

Yes,I'm playing as Milan,an ok team (5-6 ranked in Serie A)
I had 79 TS from the start,so it's been a good ride, except when it decides to screw with you.

Updated and played Napoli away,great game,lose and very good,no laser guided CPU bs,just a great game that ended 2-2.

It's funny that playing good teams rarely triggers CPU bullshit,only when I play middle of the pack teams and the odd crap team

Been having a good season,ended up 6th with a weaker but great Atalanta first year.
The way I see it,SS plays tougher but less cheaty than TP,and having good players matters when on SS,they stand out.
How's The SPL campaign going for you?

I started the one I was planning to do all along since pre order of pes19 and before i realised them pricks removed D2's. With RCD Mallorca. I downloaded kits and edited one of the teams. Scottish and English were fine, I still have both saves and I still play them, but it just wasnt what I wanted. I had my mind fixed on Mallorca. Just two games in so too early to say. Fingers crossed.

I can't see myself buying (full price) Pes 20 if the D2s are left out next year.
I got a hunch that they took one of their worst beating online when that was discovered.
I'm gonna bombard them with question on whether they're in Pes 20 or not.
I can live with a lot of strange features/,bad ML but not missing D2s

That's something I will always hate; boosted defensive ability to make up for the fact the AI has no positional sense whatsoever.

You try to punish defenders for being out of position and they chase you down like Bolt over the last 40 meters.

I'll see defenders sprint full speed at me, so I'll change direction, only for them to lunge at me in a completely direction their momentum was taking them and win the ball. Every time I see it happen, I clutch my hamstrings because that's just asking a tear.

Once they lock on to you, defenders are capable of running full speed while changing directions. And that's not physically possible. You'll either fall over, hurt yourself, or both.

Yeah that's really annoying,and complete bs.
I'm not that upset when the CPU starts stringing one touch passes around,as long as my CB are close to their fw's I'm usually able to sort that out most of the time.
But the cheating in Def from them is so fucking frustrating.
I've noticed when I had let's say 2 shit games with just that from the CPU,that when I stand up after the game,my legs hurt like hell, probably push all my frustration down my legs:)
 
Do you guys use the Supercancel when you defending? I saw a lot of improvement to play against CPU(SUPERSTAR)and also better to block low spamming cross as well.

I played often even in attack with the Supercancel and it has been good to see how some players react well.

Obviously this is not the "truth" but let's to give a chance.

Played good few matches last night and I did observe decrease in fouls for HUM, @rockstrongo .. and that was on Prof..

I did enjoy them, i had some 0-0 draws and in general it was grand, but it felt a bit faster and more clean. Which is a bit scary, coz its seems like its slowly changing into Pes18..

On a flip side (and i dont know if its spanish league or in general) AI had few flashy moves, which was quite shocking..

these are some stats from my latest game. its kinda like this all the time. cant moan about fouls or ball percentage. only shots on target are a little high for my side. i put that down to my fuma shots! :D

haven't had a really bad game for some days now! one or 2 were just "AI to clinical stuff" bad... other than that, i'm having a blast! :)

Hey guys, started a fresh ML with Crystal Palace and the Universe OF V4.
Currently I am playing on Professional difficulty, PA 0, 15 minutes and Gamespeed -1.

Well, i quite enjoy it. There is certainly something different, after all those updates.
After 8 games, i lost just againts Liverpool, due to their clinical counter.
It certainly makes a big diffrenece to play against big teams, mid teams and for example Rotherham (whom i completely controlled in the Cup).
I even got awarded with a penalty! AI had a red card, lots of fouls all in all.
The games flow is just great. I am very pleased, that there is abosuletly no AI-Cheating oder Momentum involved.
However, downisde is, that the game is a bit too easy on Professional and i consider stepping up to Top Player or Superstar.
Did you guys expierence any changes especially in AI-Cheating behaviour?
Other little downside is, that the AI ist very passive in defending the crossers on the flanks, they just basically just jogg
around you.

Nevertheless, i really enjoy all those PES moments, and the free fluid of play.

i'm on PESW OF right now (always been). playing the same settings, only 20 min matches! i do enjoy them a lot too!
whats your shooting style? basic, manual?!
 
After months of trying to figure out how to play this game against the AI, I think I have settled on manual passing and basic shooting, on professional difficulty. I was quite happy with manual shooting after they fixed the headers, but then for some reason they broke the manual headers again, to a point where my receiving players would not even go for crosses to head them. I haven't tested them in a while though, maybe something has been adjusted in their numerous updates.

I use the basic shooting style, i guess it´ll get a lot harder, if I change to manual :D ?
So that I do not need to step up in difficulty:THINK:
I also tried some different setting throuought the months, but i think this is it.
Some beautifully balanced matches, with slow and fast phases.
And even tactics do matter :D

good to read that!
on shooting: i tried basic for some matches (a month or 2 ago)... but i switched back to manual as headers seem to work. liked the variety in animations triggered by basic shooting though. there is just more than on manual, imo.

i tried SS, TP and regular. for my FUMA gameplay i prefer professional! not to hectic by AI and still a challenge for my FUMA skills!
-1 game speed is a must for me. i played 2 MyClub matches 2 nights ago and there where unrealisticly fast. gosh. thats not football, i thought to myself.
minor team, -1 gs, 20min, prof., all fuma, line height fix, day matches: thats the holy grail of setting up a match for me! :D

reg. day matches: when someone in here mentioned that... i never played a night match ever again. dont know if its placebo or for real (that night matches play worse)... but i liked nearly all the day time matches i played!

reg. line height fix by @Matt10 : this just works wonders for me! i do play exib. matches most of the time and set up both teams this way. its easy and fast and as i said, its just a lovely tweak.
this, in combination with my tactical settings (compactness, support range, etc.), is doing the midfield battles a huge favor. teams stick closer, they go to the middle of the pitch when attacking... its just so much better in terms of how both teams behave more natural and closer to the real thing! cant play without it anymore because when i do, there is soooo much space!

I've had 15-20 games on my Milan ML before I gave up
Now that I've had two proper seasons and enjoying it ,still...not one fucking penalty!

It's not that I miss not having penalties ,but the fact is knowing when you're inside the box you'll never be brought down.
That's the worst thing about it.
Outside the box there's three scenarios
1 Get past the CPU
2 CPU steals the ball
3 you'll get a free kick
Can't understand why penalties are so hard to fix.

I know some of you will say "I've got a penalty"
Well that's not enough,I should average 3-10 every season

That's my main issue with the game. It's all so stale and predictable. There are far too little possibilities and outcomes in any given situation. Fifa has this in spades so I'm currently on that. That game has its own problems but at least it has that "anything can happen" feel. This Is where pes shone in the golden Era but alas, no more.

I can agree on the unpredictably of playing fifa for sure.
But with one exception.
And that's pretty much what I'm on about with Pes and inside the box

Every time I'm outside the box on fifa there's only two outcomes , you'll make it or the CPU does.
Never ever a free kick.
So to me that's game breaking.
And the possibility of drawing a free kick and a yellow card is never an option there.
Then not having the chance of putting pressure on that defender a second time (if he'd got cautioned) is also never an option.
Which makes my fifa experience poor,if not game breaking.

The rest of your description of fifa, I'm totally onboard there pal.
Can't see past what I mentioned though
