PES 2019 Discussion Thread (PS4, XB1)

That's why my wish was a Pes online thread. Would also like to discuss more but I just don't play against the AI so maybe we can have an extra thread.

After 4 great Games on Pes 18 tonight, and seeing animations/Ai unpredictability/and just a very different and great game,I'm closing down my Pes 19 gaming for a while.
Just very happy playing a very fun game.

Yep, I think it was you I replied to about this a few weeks ago but I'm still very much enjoying PES18 (although strictly on fixed cursor mode). I still try PES19 now and then but for me, it's just so bland, repetitive, cheaty. It's like they removed half of the stuff the AI did in 18. I'm still charmed by the way 18 plays.

I no longer have hope that they'll patch 19 into a good game - I think what we have now is pretty much as good as it gets so in my book, PES19 goes down in history as a PES to forget. The AI is utter shite.

The AI is utter shite
Yes sir,couldn't agree more
I've had two seasons on it,and the last 15 games were stale and boring.

I really like Pes 18 right now,the attacking and defending AI is superior to 19.

Ball physics are so good ,being able to dribble and keep possession without having laser guided CPU strip you every time.

I got a low free kick count my last 10-15 games in Pes 19 ,since the update last week.

i always know I will end up going back to 2018 one day and playing a ML I playing the most years/seasons on that since the ps2 era I had some epic matches

still remember fondly taking my average team to the semi finals of the Europa league and missing a glorious chance vs monaco to put me through to the final even though I was gutted the run I had was so much fun

my only gripe with 18 were cup finals being too easy on superstar (won the domestic cup final twice 4-0 and 3-0 vs napoli and milan) and the CL being really annoying with scripting

Online is a whole different story. Unfortunately most of us are old grumpy bastards, who just play offline. So we just spend time drinking and moaning mostly..

Since Pes 5 i play only online. Never played offline more than 1-3 full matches. I never played MyClub as well too. Yes im old grumpy like most here.Play against console is so much boring at least for me.

I got confused playing my first EL game in a long time on Pes 18, I (Atalanta) played Vs PSV Eindhoven away, and i though I was gonna be blown away with scripting,I lost my first EL game on 19 with 3-0 (me Milan) didn't stand a chance.

But my Pes 18 EL Vs PSV was really good,no OP CPU, won a hard fought game with 2-1.
So far I've had great games.
One thing though, not necessarily a bad thing, but having to check the radar and the game when the CPU attacks was a wake up call!
Now that I'm used to look for runs on the radar and switch to my nearest player it's no longer an issue
I really feel that you have to be focused when playing it.
Really enjoying my ML with Atalanta.

I don't understand how this game can be so damn inconsistent. Starting my 4th season in ML I decided to try playing on Superstar and had some absolutely horrific matches, so I went back to Top Player. Then I comfortably beat Chelsea, Man United and Bayern back to back to back with my 4 star team, and because of that I tried Superstar again.

To my surprise I had a very good string of matches, winning some, losing some, a little bit of shithousery here and there, but overall the matches felt fair, and the difficulty was just right.

But in traditional PES fashion, since yesterday all of that went to shit. Y'all know the deal: end to end matches, CPU stringing perfect passes and top corner finishes, defenders having absolutely no awareness and not intercepting passes etc etc. Averaging almost 5 goals per match (12 mins).

I`m quite mad tbh

Having to check radar is one thing. I like to use the radar, especially when attacking and switching sides. My main gripe is, that even tho i can see AI striker going into position and I know whats coming, when the ball is in the middle of the pitch I cant switch to the proper defender so far back.
They fixed a lot of things on 18, pity they didnt tone this down.
But I agree - AI is a breath of fresh air after playing 19. And D2's... will never forgive them pricks for taking them away this year.

D2s are almost (should be) a game breaker.
I haven't been hit that hard with what you're experiencing yet!
And even if/when I do,it's like "swallow the blue or the red pill" right now it's the red one since retarded CPU on 19 is not much fun,and often that long cross ball from 18 is replaced with a short pass in to my box, and HUM Def are asleep and I concede a high shot.
So I'm taking my chances on 18 for now.

What is the biggest issue for you on PES 2019 ML? Do you mean that it is now easier to beat CPU on Superstar? Cause i can't agree with this, as i still try to win something on this difficulty, but still without result. Even on PES 2018 i won some titles as well (Domestic Cups). So can not say that superstar this year is easy.

Absolutely not easier.
My issue is a (to me) shallow and boring AI,after a while it gets the same.
I had great games in the beginning, but since last week it's Benn very one dimensional.

And one other thing, still this is how I see it,the removal of D2 leagues are killing my experience with it.
Still the game looks amazing, and at times plays really good.

But right now I'm taking Pes 18,the issues are less annoying, and the gameplay itself (again me) are more varied,high/low crosses,CPU shooting/ball physics etc.

I'm not trying to slag it off,it's just not what I want right now, that's why i prefer Pes 18

I played SS/TP on 19,even though I started on profesional PA0.
And when it comes to easier or not,Pes 19 on SS is very tough, but for me Pes 18 in Profesional PA0 plays a lot better than PES 19 on the same setting. (AI being smarter and not as passive as in 19)

It's all down to what we prefer, and me right now,it's PES 18.
Hope you're enjoying whatever Pes game you play pal

I see that gameplay has changed a little bit since the latest patch, CPU is now more passive as it was before, maybe it's just placebo, i don't know. I loved PES 18, but the lack of fouls was really annoying. Do you use some OF files for PES 18? Are there any with the Winter transfers 2019?

No option files since I'm on Xbox.
Right after the patch last week my free kick count dropped on Pes19.
I usually get 5-10 a game,suddenly I got 3-2-0 ,don't know happen there.

I draw free kicks on 18,not nearly as many as Pes 19 (use to) have.
But it could be the fact I rarely use sprint, unless down the flank it break free, but mainly I don't and that triggers a calmer gameplay from the CPU,but they still chop me down.
Who knows I might be back playing Pes 19 soon enough, but right now it's really refreshing having a more lose and open game

i usually retweet the stuff you tweet, because its really good stuff thats needs addressing, imo!
this one does not have my full support though. while i like the seamlessly transition... i dont see that on TV. there is always a cut to a different camera man (next to the line) or another camera in the stadium these days (when there is a foul).
plus: i dont know how time- and resource-consuming this would be to implement. guess there is more important stuff, imo! i dont want them to get involved in minor stuff (maybe not to you) when more important stuff needs their attention.

none the less.. i really appriciate your efforts in making the game better when sending out those tweets! keep em coming! i'll be as honest as ever! :TU:

Agreed.
Im all for more cut scenes - its pure pleasure when you play the other game and see all those. Its like watching match in real life.
But doing it this way is, again, trting to catch up with "NOW" and making it half arsed.
They need to step up and bring something fresh. When there is a foul, or a dangerous shot on goal, camera should switch, show supporters, bench, manager, other players. They need to do much more than jist an extra animation of player picking up the ball. That was good enough 10 year ago, not now

Pre game and in game screens of tables, top scorers ,past meetings, the two teams marked/singled out.

Live score from other games.
I was one point ahead of Juventus at nr 1 my last game.
Id like to have the chance to play on a result.

Transfers announced, player X use to play for the opponents etc.
And the obvious one gameplay!

I know football nowadays it's just a tv thing for a lot of people, but for engagement I still value more the "live" sensation of watching a game from the stands rather than from the couch. I'd be all for a "continuous" visual mode.

Besides, it doesn't have to be a way or another.. I'd still mainly put a tv like mode, with cuts, logos and the such, but it would simply be nice to have the option to avoid black screens and having a more vivid experience.. I understand that the scarcity they usually feed us with seems to discourage having more distinguished options, but still it doesn't seem something so hard to do..

The big one for me (excluding gameplay) is match atmosphere - mostly sound. When the Celtic and Rangers stadiums appeared, the #1 comment on every social media post about it was "just a shame they sound absolutely dead inside".

The little things make a lot more difference than we'd admit. The other game has (a very basic version of) things like this, and when you've played 100+ games to earn the right to play in a European competition, then see this, it means something.

I think cut scenes and the other bells and whistles are really nice but not prioritised over fundamental game play issues.
For example the lack of penalties, the shot variation, the poor AI attacking should all be sorted before looking at the nice to look at things

Absolutely. This is an obvious priority.
But in the same time they should look after details.
And some of those details are absolute basic stuff. Like I cant understand how the fuck in 2019 football game i cant see league table before the match. Not even that. Even in the ML menu I cant just click on this "short" version of table and see full table. Its a simple hiperlink for fuck sakes!
Instead, i have to drill through database to see the table, or memorise one after each match. Ridiculous.

Then there's commentary. How many times in the recent days I heard
- so? Any initial thoughts on the game, Jim?
- ....
(Call an ambulance. Jim's dead)

Lets say they sort out gameplay and makes it fun again and leave everything else as it is. Its still doesnt justify 60 bleeding quid for the game! Not in 2020!

Has anyone here used Lazio online?

Is it me or is the entire squad with exception of Immobile extremely sluggish in every action?

Pes atmosphere is shit. Big shit. Other game has brilliant atmoshere. In 2019 Konami has problem to make good enough atmposhere. Its ridiculous...

I was almost shocked from happiness yesterday, while i was playing a CM match on the other game.I did the come back from 0-1 to 2-1 in 81'. I am not sure but i think in 87 after a throw-in and before a substitute cutscene, it showed again my second goal replay and the speaker commented " Probably this is the winning goal of the match". It was so fascinating after the blatant Master League presentation experience that i am not if i was dreaming or it was real. It really pushed me with motivation to keep the score to 2-1 despite the pressure.

And i do not know how the English commentary is going, but in the greek one, if you are in a CL/EL second leg match and you are 1-1 after an aggr. 0-5 in first leg, the speaker says: "maybe we will have extra time". He does also say about extra-time, in a regular league fixture when it is near the season finale and it is to be decided, if you are the League winner or not after the match.

Are the Greek commentaries included or are they a regional thing?
I've only tried the German ones (except the English) since I played BL,but they were absolute shite (I "speak" German)

what about an option to choose the commentary language right before the match starts (where i set up stadium and kits and stuff). its a hassle to always dive deep into the settings menu (taking a lot of seconds for loading and online connection processes) to change it for 1 or 2 matches only.
another option for the customers, easy to implement, strong in value, not gonna happen! sadly!!

edit: how cool would that be!? i like to play Milan vs Roma and set the commentary to italian (on the fly)... or i like to play some spanish match and set the commentary to spanish (on the fly)! it should be possible to load the choosen commentary not only from the deep deep menus, but when the actual match is loading (where it loads the commentary set in the settings menu anyway)!!

As cool and authentic it is to put a local league language, I never change it, as I like to understand what they say.. even if they talk shite.

One thing I dont get is - why did they make Beglin to be such a cock?? Whatever the other fella says - he disagrees. He always knows better. Absolute cock!
I get the intention - they probably wanted to create some sort of an "entertaining dialog.". but my god he annoys the living shit out of me! And in real life his commentary is not bad at all.. and he seems nice enough.

Maybe he was just tired.. all elitists know, that sometimes when the body is tired..........
