PES 2019 Discussion Thread (PS4, XB1)

About speed of the game...

It is very different pace of the match playing 95 rated players on both teams - on blue arrows,
or two lower teams on red arrows.

So someone could say it is quicker now or then, but it is not always the same, depending on players ratings and form.

Or in ML with a team with 36 chemistry :D
 
Also, just had a look at the master league and you indeed cannot select the Thai league. But, all the players are in the database buy. And in terms of duplicates, I searched for Hulk and only one showed up. It was the CSL version. The ACL version didn't show up.

Good to hear! Now I can't wait to try a new ML!
 
Looked at the patch notes and noticed that there was no mention of ai players dribbling past opposition players. I expect this is untouched, but will see after i've played at least 10 more games (although we should be seeing at least one attempt by the ai to dribble past a player at least once per match match).

Someone said on here that 2017 had lots of dribbling. My only memory of that is that ai players would get the ball and then just run in to me. They had no desire to pass the ball when they should and rarely ever played backwards. 2018 and 2019 do this aspect of the game much better in terms of knocking the ball around. Makes for much more realistic built up play. As someone touched on, football is more about pass and move.

I didn't touch on game speed, but i found it no faster. If anything i found the game better paced. Previously a good team like Chelsea would seem really fast as they would ping-pong the ball around, but it seems they were more measured. Even when they were in +1 attacking bar mode, they weren't overly relentless. They just pushed more of their players forward which was refreshing to see.

The game felt maybe more weighty too, in a good way. Looking forward to playing more later. The big thing for me though was seeing my goalkeeper actually making more than 1 save in a match with the 5 he made. Goalkeepers may actually have worth again!

Tell that to Martial or MBappe for example.
 
After couple of exibithion games on top player, full manual, 0 game speed I can clearly say that this is the game Konami should release back in August. Game feels x10 more random, I see stuff that I haven`t seen before. AI is much snappier, more direct but in the same time they take time to build on the midfield which is good. When I played against Bayern and Barcelona I felt that my team is really weaker and I cannot get the ball out of my half of the pitch. Tactics feel more effective now becouse both of the opponents above press me instantly and I haven`t much time on the ball to think enough. Manual headers are fixed! Goalkeepers come out and sometimes they make mistakes, human mistakes, stupid but not something that won`t happen in real life. Low crosses seem to be there but they are not effective like pre patch and actually now I can defend against them. Top teams will have times when you can bounce back but should be carefull bc they will punish your mistakes. I like the game a lot at the moment, hope this feeling will last and not other bug appear from nowhere. Feeling for one more game is back :)
 
Before this game came out, one of the most requested leagues to be added was the Chinese Super League. Now that its been added, I look on social media and people are shitting all over it. Saying who cares. When did this attitude start that video games are made purely for you?
Its the same with the Monaco stadium. People complaining. Who cares. Maybe I should just stay away from social media :)

I dont mean shot positions, i mean style. Before the patch it was only top corner sniper shots. Do you see AI low shots, dipping shots or some finese ones?
 
Thanks for the impressions, pleased to see people are liking the improvements. It’s gets tiring complaining to Konami.
 
I am going to have to move the difficulty up to top player. Had two games in a row where the opponents had zero shots. Also, the primary attack of the AI is still low cross, although it's now fine with actually going forwards if it's one on one. So far though, they have been just rushing into my keeper who has tackled the ball away.

I still haven't seen any massive changes but this could be more because of the difficulty level.

before patch all shots were high shots, now I saw low shots too. Pre patch I saw some shots from outside the box also but not today, maybe teams I play against were using different tactic. Only thing I really miss is top players like Messi, Neymar, Mbappe, Hazard and others to shine, for example I disposessed Messi easily with Levante. Time will tell but feeling is good for now :)
 
I'm gonna do a fresh start on my ML.
I'm on a proper shit run,and I need to pick another team or whatever.
Still feeling that the AI cheats a bit to much,always winning 50/50 balls,open passes when you have a chance to go for goal is often over hit!
I've seen some catching up situations etc
But it's a better,much better game now than before.
 
After the patch I have played 6 matches all in ML.I play on TP with FUMA.I can write a large post but I don't see the point because the difference that now the game has will be visible to all of us after a few matches.I can only say that it really plays great now in almost every aspect.The robotic,problematic cpu AI behaviour has been gone.They have great variety in their plays they take what defence gives them,they shoot,they try to penetrate the defence from the middle,they play great in counterattack when they are in front and you play with high attack rate.They also play great defence.Matches are absolutely balanced and I don't feel "cheated" even if I loose 4-0 while pre patch I sometimes felt cheated even if I won...
Headers are ok now ,you can perform headers even on manual controls now.You cant score so easy as in 18 with headers but they are much more balanced after the patch.All in all, I can say that patch did great job in gameplay terms.
 
I think the patch is good tbh. Game is far more enjoyable now and way more varied. low crosses, floated crosses, more shots outside the box, infact a load more, better keepers. Cant fault it

i just played on the last but one difficulty, top player? Loads of shots outside the box, never seen my keeper make so many saves in pes19. 2 low crosses, but i defended them , rest were all floated balls in. But lot of central play, too. That was v West Ham, then Brighton.

Going to try a few games against the elite sides later.

Word of warning to anyone who added a CSL option file before this update. It adds the official league and then your option file. So some players that were already in the game end up being removed from the official teams and added to the option file ones. Takes a bit of cleaning up to sort out!
 
Online is a lot more responsive now. This also leads to a much faster game. For me this has pros and cons. I always wanted it to be more responsive online but now it's so fast and arcadey. Maybe I just have to get used to it.
Also conceded a corner goal for the first time in this pes. While corner goals are a part of football I just don't like the fact that they seem so random in modern football games.. Would be great if a company would add a skill system for corners or headers in general
 
I played this game a ton pre-patch and post-patch even attacking feels a lot snappier and my own team's AI seems a lot smarter. I wish I could take the day off work and play all day.

I feel thee a lot of variety in terms of AI teams. Really fine actually. In my new Master League with Milan i was destroyed totally against PSG. 4-1. I really didn't have a chance. Against Schalke I was on the ball but without getting big chances. 0-0

Really how I like the game. I can see why people are mentioning that the best players aren't dribbling enough. But they still stand out. Neymar was crazy against me in terms of positioning and constantly getting dangerous.

This and the overall feeling of the game is making it my offline game for now. It's fun. It's hectic in a good way with decent amount of fouls and it's hard to score. Really have to fight for every goal.

As a assisted game (I'm not a FUMA guy because I finding myself in playing a lot of ground passes) I think PES is better than the rival.

If it's FUMA I don't know. Haven't tried that much. Only semi assisted in fifa, but again. I find myself playing different and I think it's become boring and repetitive.

That is my perspective for now.


And oh.. So far Master League is feeling exactly the same as exhibition for me !

While I agree with most of the opinions on improved AI, the goalscoring-patterns seem to be the same. First goal I conceded after the patch was after a low cross, second one was a short corner kick -> pass into the box -> backheel flick on through every defender -> Shot and Goal.
It still seems to be the most effective way for the AI to score goals, they just dont do it everytime now.
 
So are headers in FuMa really fixed? And finesse shot plus low shots? That were my complainings and the reason I went back to pa1 and adv. shooting. I can deal with the less animations thing but headers were a pain.
 
Guys I am starting a new ml on pc but while selecting teams I can't find the Thai league there but I see them in kick-off selection. Strange thing, can you guys please confirm this and how to involve the Thai league in ml without sacrificing any league.
