PES 2018 PlayStation & Xbox Discussion Thread

So, instead of talking about old games, lets compare PES to its competitor shall we?
I believe that you didn't get the point. I was not comparing PES to FIFA there, I was just a remark about the behaviour of some FIFA players (who see momentum/cheating/scripting everywhere).
Hopefully PES fans will be more open-minded about first touch errors, I really hope Fede is right:
So we appreciate natural human errors as much as we love scoring spectacular goals.
Seeing a first-touch error like that done by a player of mine in the stoppage time with the score still locked to a tight 0-0 draw would probably make me rage, but it happens in football so I agree it's definitely good to see it also happen in PES.

How do I embed the gif from this? On my phone so it's a bit of a nightmare...
Absolutely love this, but I've got to say - because I'd like a conversation about it, not moaning for the sake of it (however, I'll spoiler it so as not to upset anyone)... ;)

The passing (the backpass anyway) sums up why I worry that I won't like the game this year (it applies to all types of ground passes and some shots, and it's something that I didn't like in 2017 but I overlooked it because I thought "they'll work on that for 2018").

The ball FLIES to the target (slight exaggeration), changing direction without suffering in momentum or spin, and the kick animation doesn't match up to the power that's transferred. All that from the slightest tap of the button, too.

In that moment, if he had a defender on him, he wouldn't have to take more time to power the pass (therefore giving the defender a realistic chance to get a foot in) - the ball just pings away like that.

This is why I don't feel satisfaction when scoring on PES now - I don't get the sensation that the player is making contact with the ball, so I feel like, rather than being rewarded for getting the timing and the power-bar right, the game is just allowing me to score.

Anyway. Captain Cynic out!

I see what you're saying and it makes perfect sense.
I think it is one of those things were, in order to make the game 'playable' and not have the ball bouncing off from here to there all the time without any actual danger situation occurring ever, they have to make it like that.
Otherwise it would be hard as F to get the ball to a player who's not near you, because you would have to get: The player who's ON the ball Timing, Power, Positioning right and then also pray for your other player who's OFF the ball to be in a good position to catch it and who also has a good First Touch stat. I think it could get really frustrating if they didn't do it like this.

lets hope its on PA2 and not PA1 or manual

I don't think it needs to be that complicated - I'm just saying, to hit as perfect a backpass as that, it should take a little longer to power the kick, otherwise it wouldn't move that fast. There's barely a kick - but...

I think the bigger problem (in terms of my perception of that pass as "not humanly possible") might be the friction thing - the way the ball goes from one direction to another without any deceleration or lift, it's more like the ball is rebounding off a wall.

I'd bet money it's PA1.

Adam said one of the teams will be a new one (as in not in previous builds). The other one is not Liverpool.
I would say it's barca and a south american club.

Thanks. . I was probably drifting in and out of sleep at that point of the podcast.

I'm wondering if there's any info on new features when it comes to the offline modes.
For example I'm having some summer fun right now with pes2017 playing in league mode (don't want to invest much time in ml) and it really bothers me that I have to either play or watch all matches in coach mode. How about an option to simulate a game fast? Thank you very much. The other footy game has it. If konami wants to copy some ideas, here's a good one :)

I also wonder, now that all versions are the same ("nextgen") if it would be wise to have different threads depending on the game modes people play (Main distinction: offline/online). Many people disagree about the gameplay, but I suspect it's offline vs online people. I have skipped several pes versions over the years, but it's my impression that the offline modes are mostly the same every year and it's all about online. I could be wrong. But there are lots of offline people and we could have a thread to put some preassure on Konami, or to simply discuss gameplay from our point of view. It's true that it could be a thread overrun with complaining and ranting though. heh.

two hours into the podcast... so many mentions of ML, but my youth system question still not asked :(

It was asked at the end and Adam confirmed that the Youth didn't had any changes. The only changes in ML this year is the pre-season friendlies and the transfer system unfortunately.

It seems like Adam really want to push the team to work more in Master League but they aren't interesting as their main focus is on MyClub as it brings more money.

Would there be any way to install 2 option files on the PS4? That way I can change regen's names and their faces and it wouldn't affect other modes.
