PES 2018 PlayStation & Xbox Discussion Thread

thats quality that , i just hope its stat related and the touch is somewhat down to a difficult ball and not forced. For example id expect better players such as messi, neymar controlling more difficult balls and the more poorer player it getting away from them
First touch error looks very good in that video. That should tighten up play in the midfield quite a bit if implemented properly. Looking forward to the beta but I would prefer Skybet teams or maybe some mid table EPL sides to get a true feel of the game. I hate playing with overpowered teams takes all the fun out of the game for me.

That´s the official cover, yeah?
Not that I care much, but I´m glad there is no Usain Bolt on it :P

It was asked at the end and Adam confirmed that the Youth didn't had any changes. The only changes in ML this year is the pre-season friendlies and the transfer system unfortunately.
Urrrggghhh. That's a big turn-off. But we knew really, didn't we.

It seems like Adam really want to push the team to work more in Master League but they aren't interesting as their main focus is on MyClub as it brings more money.
They've done some work on the ML - but it remains a mode with fantasy elements (I wonder if many ML players in Japan have a problem with the reincarnation system).

Either way, if the ML is going to be neglected, I'm going to have less and less reason to buy the game. (Not that my lack of a sale would make any difference.)

I wonder if there's a way of modding it over PC to adjust the regens that we get - probably worth seeing if any of the lads that mod the current game could look into it once PES 2018 is released. I usually spend a lot of time on the youth players before starting my ML in order to make sure that I'm not getting faceless players like 16 year old 'Yuri Volkshi' from England...

I do the same thing, but feel a bit of a fool for doing so. As I said in a different thread:

I always edit the youth players to be English [...] with PES 2017, I edited in the actual Liverpool youth squad, with the idea that if [the game was Football Manager], I'd spend a lot of money buying them whatever team I played as (I've seen Liverpool reserves etc. play a few times - in-fact, Liverpool play Tranmere [today!] in a friendly).

After putting all that effort in, and then seeing Totti and Terry join them the following year, I felt like a bit of a moron for doing it. Ruined it.

Yeah, I recall reading your post on it - I've always done something similar and put the occasional French & Dutch player in there. It's always a bit odd to have a host of youth players in the youth team and then seeing Totti, Terry, Buffon and Joey Barton joining as fresh faced 16 year olds.

Really wish they would just allow us the option of disabling regens. Realistically, how long do people play a Master League for? I've always capped my ML at 5 seasons so that regens don't take over and then start another.

I played about 10 seasons in pes 2017, before I started I also spent 2 weaks creating 200 semi talented youths for each of the main leagues

After hearing the podcast, unfortunately those that play ML are the minority, there major focus is myclub, ML is dead.

I just think it's kind of funnny they included Rafinha on the front cover instead of, say, Busquets or even Pique. Rafinha doesn't represent Barca's values or philosophy at all.

I've also heard the podcast Zuko. The ML is far from dead because Adam himself is a huge fan of the ML and he alone can keep the focus (a litle bit) on the ML.
There is even an objective reason for that. At the beginning of the podcast, Adam thanked the fans for keeping PES alive. The fans who made the transition from PS2 days to now are obviously the older fans. These are the people who play ML. ML is far from death imo.
I already said it, but i will repete. IMO the ML in PES2018 might be very interesting by a very good new feature that is overlooked by most people: the fact that you will get goals/aims at the beginning of your game. This rahter simple feature could make a huge difference.

A couple of days ago we had a discussion about the fact that people change the options/settings of the game or not. I was one of the only people who tought that lots of people change settings. In the podcast Adam said axactly the same thing (he was talking about pass assistance and we were talking about match length, but surely match length can be easier found than match length? No?).

I rarely look at clips about the game, because for years now imo those clips don't do justice to the game. WHen i play it, it looks totally different (and this regardless of the fact that game is good or bad). But i'm rather optimistic if i read or hear the reaction of the people who have played the game. I believe people like B-man when they say the game is good. I don't see any reason why they should help Konami with PR.

Chris, you will end up buying the game and there is a big chance you will like it, since you really liked PES2017 and since the people who played PES2018 think the new one is much better.

I think PASS/SHOOTING/THROUGH BALL assistance options should be a lot more 'in your face'.
Like, the game should ask you straight up when you run it the first time. And then it should be available withint General Settings as well.
I'm pretty sure new fans or people below 20 years old don't even know where assistance levels are in PES.

Here's my problem. Adam says in the podcast that they use user data and that improvements in ML are further down the pecking order because far more people use myclub, fair enough and sound reasoning. However the issues that persist in ML that kill the immersion mean that people like Me and Chris would seriously reconsider buying the game (or more realistically buy the game anyway and not really play much ML) either way that's 2 people who would normally feed back on ML becoming alienated and no longer contributing their opinions for next year, which means that User data for ML shows less users (and less complaints about the alienating issue) etc. etc. ad infinitum.

I've said to myself that the gameplay really needs to be mindblowing for me to get the game if the ML improvements aren't good enough to justify a purchase, and even with that the online needs to work properly because 2vs2 and 3vs3 modes are probably something I can swap playing ML for if it works properly.

Luckily for Konami the gameplay looks amazing so far, and they'll be helped by Millwall being back in the game so I won't have to spend the first two weeks creating them in edit mode...

why? is PA1 not assisted enough? I find it hard to misspass a ball with PA1, PA1 is still too assisted in PES17.
If they make it better in 2018, i already see it coming, all jump to PA2-4.....and i end up not finding an Opponent, only a PA2 fellow

I don't know, I play on Manual.

I don't know, I play on Manual.
hahaha nice one! I did play manual extreme on PES13.
The only downside on manual is, playerabilitys don't shine throw (passing, crossing and shooting).
I tried it with PES17....the biggest issue was, if i found an Opponent, they used assisted shooting.
It wouldn't bother me, but it is still not equal Level. The best think would be a mix between PA1 and PA0.
Adam said, there are only 1% off all user, use PA0, so they dont really bother. This attitude, will slowly prevent FM Players or ML Players to buy the game, sooner or later.

I have to agree here.

I think ML made a few step ups from like PES 2014 when it was kinda dull and you never had any injuries.
I enjoyed my ML in PES 2017 and I´m sure I´ll enjoy it in the next release.
Besides, I play myclub too. But thos AI challenges only and sometimes those online challenges.
I avoid playing league games online though.
When I am done with the challenges I keep on playing ML.

Surely, there is always something to be improved, true.

I´m in the.....don´t know exactly but I guess 5th or 6th season with my team Aston Villa and it´s not getting boring.
Also because I started playing full manual.

Andf if it does, I´ll pick another team and start a new one.

Manual goalkeeping is a risky endeavour, but actually can work and is a very useful mechanic. I have to caveat that by saying that it isn't perfect; it could do with movement when you have the keeper under your control being looked at. Stick movements should be more like keeper face-up movements, with a press of the stick to the keepers left or right being a lateral movement.

I saved what would have been a certain goal in an online match a few nights ago using it. It is just another one of those amazing wee things you can experience in the game when you get it right.

As for pass support, I think the best matches I have played on PES2017, offline or online, are when I use PA1 but find myself using manual modifier passes for the more ambitious or simply tempo varying stuff. I played against a fellow, like-minded Scot, the other night there on myClub and after the match we exchanged messages complimenting each others use of the PA1/Manual Modifier combo. An excellent wee "moment" from all my years playing these games. I even apologised for my team maybe being a wee bit OP compared to his (though it was technically my 4 star team I used)

It's stuff like that has me not only optimistic about PES2018, but thankful the developers have kept Manual Modifier as a thing, and only hope more people will utilise it, along with the off-the-ball controls, which I find go unused by many in my online experience. The Dynamic 1-2, combined with Manual Modifier passing, can allow you to create some beautiful play, and you can even combine that with another runner if you quickly use Teammate Controls immediately after the Dynamic 1-2. Yes, it can be incredibly risky and leave space, but it is a wonderful thing engineering all that movement and pattern to play with your fingertips.

And then you can consider Attack/Defence level and Fluid Formations on top of all that above. The game has so many tools at the players disposal and it is that which has given recent offerings, especially PES2017, more legs. I am very confident that PES2018 will do similar for me. I hardly notice AI "cheating" or scripting these days as I am too busy experimenting with all the possibilities and if I get spanked off the AI or a human opponent (preferrably a like-minded one) then so be it. I play very much to create first and compete second these days and I love that the game can offer that, after it is the other way about in the first few months.

Postioning off? Foul count not realistic? AI scripting? I don't notice any longer as I am totally focused on what I can do when I get the ball and try to make full use of everything at my fingertips. That is the real challenge for me now and I love that PES can do that. I think PES2018 could allow for even greater expression, so pardon my optimism.

Yeah! I've just been invited by Robbye to the PES 2018 Event in Argentina! Cool!

I was more than willing to wait for the Full Release, since I pre-ordered it on PC and I haven't watched a single Video (other than the first official trailer), so I wanted to have the full shocking experience on September... but... oh well... this works too.

I think a lot of what will make ML great will be in-game stuff. If it had that Fifa style presentation, realistic stadiums, entrance presentations, tailored commentary and real life chants, that would have a huge impact on ML. They don't really need to change that much about the game mode itself, except maybe some improvements to transfers, youth players and progression.

And of course the most most important thing, player and team individuality. If it had all those things ML would be just perfect, everything else would be a nice addition.

They say a new team would be added in the beta, is it possibly Monaco? It makes sense since it's been part of the PES official trailer.

I hope they do improve ML but I wasn't convinced, reason I said that as the years go on and more next gen users jump on, it will all be about my club and the stats for ML will deteriorate even more for them to bother improving, we on here are the minority, look how much ML has progressed in the last 5 years is embarrassing don't you think, they've taken all the good things out of ML and haven't bothered to put them back in. If goals/objectives are the only upgrade in ML I don't think that's enough for a day 1 purchase if your only buying it for ML.
One thing that did turn me off a lot in pes17 was when I controlled stoke city and still managed to sign dybala reus and was a mid table team, no mention of that area being fixed in 18.

id think so, because it seems they are going after the old PES stadiums like Monaco. Hopefully!

I want some Paris Saint-Germain F.C., Olympique Lyonnais, Olympique de Marseille, and AS Monaco FC battles.

Oh no...please don't waste energy and people on this aspect...there are so many other things that could be done.
Indeed, a "football-themed" Yu-Gi-Oh could be somehow interesting (not that I expect anything similar though):
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yu-Gi-Oh!_Trading_Card_Game

It's true that it's a diversion from the "main" road which is the development of the next PES game, but look at the silver lining there, it shouldn't be too time or resource consuming. They already have the card system and such in place (as far as I remember Yu-Gi-Oh was pretty successful, to the extent that someone also made a cartoon from it), they only need a team of designers to actually design the cards but as far as I understand it's Topps who will produce them. :)

I just looked at the online-co-op- mode overhere but can somebody explain me if you play with one fixed player or is it the same player-select as in normal modes like exhibition game?

Official front cover released!

And the steelbook edition too - which looks really nice. Probably going to pick this one up even though I don't care too much for MyClub.

Same as in exhibition mode, you can swap between every available player (as long as your friend(s)) aren't controlling that player.
