PES 2018 PlayStation & Xbox Discussion Thread

Only just read about this but I agree - sounds like he's being trusted with more control over the devs.

Let's hope that's the case. It is badly needed. If they are going to need to listen to fans, and not go off and do their own thing, then they need someone to rep that on-site.

Watched it the other day and I said to myself if Matt is positive about it then it has to be good. . .it is until I realised the fouls were decreased .. ..I initially thought they did it out of spite because of all the negativity. . I'm lost for words.

It's a bit strange. I've noticed the tackle count going much lower. Full matches only having 3-5 tackles? We need to get that tackle number up so the ratio can play out correctly. The tiki taka and ease in agility from pre-patch is still in the code, and it's hurting the tackle count.

Forgot to post my video here. It's my initial thoughts and some of the things I had seen before that were affecting the game, and where some areas are improved, and some aren't. Overall, I think it's a step in the right direction as a base. I hope they can build off of it further. Btw, news that Adam is moving to Japan has to be a positive thing, right?

Adam is moving to Japan to become a bukkake boy lol.

This new patch simply made me excited enough to post here since the release date, because the game pre patch was frustrating, it was care pure and simple for me.

Now with the new patch, the game is shaping up to become what I expected PES 2018 to be.

Small but many significant imorovements that are makung worlds of difference compared to what it was before patch.

First of all, the ps4 version was extremeky unresponsive, so fucking fristrating. Now players movement on the ball impoved so much, playes respond and turn as I expected.

Players are also more much aware of ball position and they are now facing the ball and turning in the right direction whenever the ball change its trajectory after deflections or anything.

These two improvements alone (responsiveness and playees awareness) made a very positive impact. But I can also see improvements on players positioning, cpu ai and even physical battles wich didnt make any logic pre patch. And Im 100% sure its not placebo.

But there are things that still need jmprovement. They could tweak the cpu to become a bit more agressive defensivelu on your own half and midfield to result more interesting and unpredictable ball possession batttle wich was what made PES so exciting to play.

Keepers shouls also anticipate dangerous play and come out of their lines more. The R2 bug still seems to be present etc. Another annoying bug that still seems to be present is players taking a touch after a cross instead of heading the ball.

Game is much faster after patch. For the ones who say it is slower i really want some of what you're smoking lol.:SMOKIN:
-1 speed now feels like 0 speed pre patch. Now i can only play in -2 speed to enjoy a realistic gameplay.Thank god i only play offline cuz i can only imagine how retarded it must be now online on 0 speed lol.Every year the same, they speed up the gameplay slowly through the year cuz they know arcadey ping pong lovers are more than sim fans. They made again the players feel very light and super responsive and they sacrificed realism for ''fun'' once again...With such minds and with such fans unfortunatelly we will never have a realistic simulation football game.At least on -2 speed it's very good and i can enjoy it somehow even more than i enjoyed it on -1 speed pre patch for some reason,it feels even more fluid.
P.S. I'm on PC. Don't know if it plays some role,i think not.

Re: Adam Bhatti

I will probably get a warning for this but I actually think Adam Bhatti and that other guy Asim are terrible for the series.

Konami could serve up a turd sprayed in golden glitter next year and both of the them would tell us that the 'king is back'. They're PR goons and paid to pretend to love the game.

I even reckon Bhatti plays FIFA behind closed doors. What the series actually needs is a Phil Spencer type (Xbox guy who is revamping their structure.)

We don't need ex PES fanboys delivering our opinions. Bhatti still thinks that a lot of us old PES heads crave David Beckham (cringe) and other fictional nonsense.

I want a football game with current players, current squads, a deep career mode, lots of different stadia to play at and a penalty kick or two awarded to me once in a while.

Most of us couldn't give two craps about Chile's stadium being licensed or Columbia's latest kit, I mean, come on wake up and smell the coffee Konami!

Get the basics right - on the pitch and off it.

Leave the player faces, hair styles, underwear and other pointless cosmetic shite to EA for the FUT kiddies to spend real money on.

I just want a real football game.

I personally believe Konami will deliver next year, cos they know a lot of fans this year have lost there trust there will be a lot of fans especially the older fans waiting to see what’s improved after the game is out, or else they will lose sales, especially as FIFA now is closing the gap very quickly, I’m one now that has lost complete trust leading up to 2019, also podcasts are non existent after the game, which says it all.

One wonders were we will end up?
I've lost interest in both football games, don't think any of them replicates real football anymore,on the surface, but after 30-40 games in any given career mode,it's not gripping me
Could be me,and no,haven't played Pes post patch yet.

I belive Konami can now move on and focus on the surroundings: Atmosphere, cameras, chants, more variation in weather and time of day (A MUST!), menus and most importantly: Game modes.

They won't neglect the gameplay because of course there's still room for improvement so they will definetely add and tweak stuff here and there but they can dedicate more time to stuff that have been massively overlooked over the past few years.

Cloudy with rain this year is a great addition and looks amazing. I can't help but wonder how afternoon lighting would look like with this amazing graphics.

Anyone else feel that Professional difficulty is the best balance so far? Playing SS and TP, it just feels extremely direct and the CPU never makes a mistake.

Professional and Zero Pass Assist has always felt the most balanced to me, and always my default choice.

I want to feel realism and a challenge, and those settings have always given me that.

I’m not one to ever moan about the ‘Scripting’, that’s bollocks to me. How many times in real life do we hear the phrase “It was in the script” ?!

When a striker scores on his debut against his old club etc etc ...

And another thing, you only ever people moan about “Scripting” when they lose, never when they win.

Of course the higher difficulty levels are there to make it much harder to win, it’s the nature of the beast. But football is 90 minutes, or the video game equivalent, of a game where you make every decision, button press. You could have always played that game different, but don’t bitch, whinge, moan when you get beat by this so called pre-determined scripting.

Do you think the AC Milan players came off that CL Final with Liverpool and bitched about unfair scripting in that game ? Of course not. Put the same scenario on a PES game where you were Milan and you’ll hear the words ‘scripted’ bullshit forever in a day.

Just about to try the new patch btw....updates to follow.

Ok, first half complete, 14 min game on Pro and Zero Assist. Noticeable difference in the fouls, 5 already, 3 by the CPU and and 3 Yellow Cards. Harsh Yellow Cards as well. I do get fouled because I attempt the skills, but not here.

It’s more responsive, which makes it feel quicker, and certainly more CPU variation.

This is a derby game though, which always produces more fouls because of the added needle. Will see how the 2nd half pans out, but certainly better post patch from very early impressions.

We'll see what you think after you play several non-derby games, Jimmy!

The game ended 2-2, 4 fouls by me and one Yellow Card, 7 fouls by the CPU and 4 Yellows Cards and a sending off. But that could be down to the derby game, although the Newcastle match prior per patch wasn’t as physical as this one.

Saying that, I will never judge a thing off one match.

The quick perfect first time passes by the CPU are still there even on Pro, so god knows what it’s like on higher levels.

I try to understand what Konami are trying to achieve each year, and for me this year they have definitely tried to reduce the effectiveness of the pressure spamming. This has had a knock on effect playing against the CPU. I noticed this in the demo and relayed my opinion back then.

If you try not to blatantly press, and hold back covering the channels the CPU doesn’t play so perfectly fluently, they only do that when you force the issue.

For the record I tried Regular Difficulty level the other day for the first time in my PES life, on Zero Assist it was still surprisingly challenging but also a totally different experience, for the better.

Nope still issues for me. Had a few fouls against me when ive been in possession and the ai has ran into me.

Defenders still chesting the ball down in their own penalty area under pressure, still when i clear the ball with long pass it barely goes anywhere.

It is a fun game, but these niggles really kill my joy.

Not to mention the absurd transfer market it ML and that fucking stupid deadline day shit.

I have been very negative this year with my posts so I just decided to try enjoy the game for what it is theres no doubt its challenging this year for the first time ever in any PES im not playing on the hardest difficulty but I have found my level right now to be top player which gives me nice balanced stats vs the CPU but seriously wtf is up with these chip balls by the AI lol drives me mad

Anyway just beat Bari away in ML to get my first win of the season changed to 2 upfront gave a debut to an 18 year old target man he cant pass or dribble, turns like a dump truck and must be a chain smoker because he knackered by the 60th min but he was a real menace flicking on headers and holding it up until support arrives and scored our winner with a goal Duncan Ferguson would have been proud of it was a typical ML magic moment that I love about PES

I really hope that other people in my situation (which is: Currently enjoying the game very much but still think they can fix a lot of the annoyances before they start working on the next game), such as @cowden_harley and @Jimmy G-Force don't stop their complaints here. I want you guys to take the pros and cons to the people who can do something about it. Tweet Adam. Email Konami.
Otherwise we're just letting them think "next year we will do this and that", but it's still THEIR JOB to improve the current version that's been out for ONLY two months!!!

So if you think there's still a lack of fouls, or poor players positioning or little-to-none battle for midfield or whatever, don't sleep on it. We MUST do something about it. And the very least we can do is demand for a fix.

We have let them know it's 'not enough'. So even if they won't fix it this year, they'll think twice next time before putting out an unfinished, untested game.

You want, I want, we all want HERE we not mass market I am led to believe.

Still lol at Beckham legendary status. Overated glamour boy

Had 13 quid of Xbox credit and pes is on sale so I thought I would be an idiot and download it for the Xbox X.

Played one match, superstar difficulty, default 10 minutes.

Awarded 2 fouls. Gameplay feels identical to when I was playing on PS4 a few weeks ago. It isn't faster, or slower, or 'tighter'. It's exactly the same.

I do enjoy the general gameplay a lot but something is missing for me (apart from fouls and presentation obviously). The game feels...half finished.

Still prefer to the other game though simply because of the realistic pace.
