PES 2018 BETA Discussion Thread

Experienced some lag in the matches I played in the wee small hours last night, but putting that down to a combination of code stability and the fact it is a network environment test, so wobbles likely.

Actually started getting annoyed with it, but that is, somewhat ironically, a good familiar feeling. I fon't think this beta is ideal for trying to master dribbling though. A wee bit too inconsistent regards performance. You can tell there is stuff that is still a bit raw with the code/ai etc., but plays a belter when it is butters.

This is something Konami need to fix, ie. allow players to edit their control scheme at the beginning of the game or anytime during the game, rather than just trying to match make (with or without restrictions) assuming both players wont want to change.
No way. Lots of people would start the match with PA 0 and then change it to 'PA laserguided' straight after kick off to obtain an unfair advantage over the opponent (who would maybe keep playing with PA 0).
If a player's PA were to be changed during a match, it should require approval from all the other players first. Otherwise it shouldn't be possible to change PA at one's will (without even informing the other players perhaps).

You should be able to change down but not up above what you went in with.

just played a game with lots of lag and it was impossible to defend, but the lag free game i played was super. so i hope the demo is this with better shooting added. That player cursor showing two different places is confusing me making defending even harder. But with some improvement this game will be great, at this pace Konami should have an incredible game by 2020. I think they got there shit together, finally. Really liking this beta.

someone tweated a question about shooting trajectories and Adam said they vary now

Big hopes on this. Even if it's not a complete revamp, a little more variations should be great for me. That's the whole point for me, even if there is several changes IG, if scoring gives me the same feeling as PES 2017... It would be hard for me having a real sensation of accomplishement when the ball cross the white line.

It's not that like it's very bad on PES 2017 always better in that area than PES 2015-16 and the feeling was different. But i don't want to have two years a row the "exact" same sensations/feeling on the last meters, area of finishing and shooting...
That part is (at least for me) the most important thing when it cames to feels rewarding to score or make a great action, and push us to watch and re-watch replays.

Just had my first 3vs3. Full manual for me and i liked it. The opponents went the easy cheap way and we lost 1:2. But my team had a good balance. One guy was rushing a lot, the other one played build up. It's like couch coop. But I prefer the local version with trash talk! :)
The stats at halftime and final are nice too.
I just can't stop playing today as the performance is better. I don't feel that lag like yesterday. There is a little stutter here and there every 2 matches. But it's minor. As said, much better than last night.
And yes, it's not a new game as promised. But it seems like the best PES in the last years. I love that shielding feature and getting used to it the more I play. It's so much fun to let a rushing player run away from you when you consider own body movement and direction. These R1+X spammer should have a hard time. This plus the pace makes this game different enough (In a good way) for me compared to 2017. I finally have new gameplay elements to learn. Satisfying that is for me. :)

I can't get a single game on Xbox One. And when I was matched with someone, it was cancelled with a message "This match will be abandoned due to unforeseen circumstances", 3 times.

Been trying for an hour now.

When a friend had PES 2017 on the XB1 and I had it on the PS4, I asked him to have a look at the user numbers (only accessible on the online lobbies screen) - every time we did a comparison, his numbers were 20% of what mine were.

I don't imagine tons of people have downloaded the beta (it's not on the "featured" page of either digital storefront), and I'd bet the numbers on Xbox are absolutely minuscule at the moment.

I've been looking for this and can't find it - only the tweet about animations. Please could you point me to it?! I'd like to quote him on it...

I'm loving the beta so far - had lots of lag free games here in the UK with a fairly standard internet connection so that is pleasing.

I agree with the comments that it is similar but different to 2017. Different in a good way and this is a guy who still plays 2017 almost daily. I understand the reason for the online beta & am doing my best to help test it but I am deffo looking forward to the demo to try out offline play as well.

I have a couple of questions...
1) Is it possible to have 2 people doing the kick off or just 1 the standard now? Is that likely to be a beta thing if so as I would like the option to choose.
2) I played a guy last night and he was doing lots of nice contextual tricks/flicks. Not the ridiculous rainbows, 360s or stepovers etc. More like cutting inside intelligently, dropping the shoulder to create space etc. I have no idea how he did it but it was a nice touch. Somebody mentioned left stick skills or dribbling a few pages back, is that the same thing?

Thanks in advance

Ok played a few 3v3 and 3vCOM now... bloody hell if your team mates are spastics it's proper hard :D when you're the only one defending it's a struggle.

only real gripes the more i play is shooting... and Neymar, or rather, people trying to pick it up with him and running through the whole midfield and defence, if konami are not careful he could be the Adriano of this years game

I have not see anyone mention yet that with advanced shooting you now see a big circle where your shot is aimed at. This is actually a really good way of getting to grips with it. After i have internalized i will turn it off though.

I like the second cursor (the one indicating to which user u will switch). It needs some getting used to but after that i don't think i can go back playing without it, seems such an obvious addition.

I couldn't play a 3 vs. 3 either, and also the 3 vs. CPU I tried took some time to start and players got shuffled quite a lot before finding a "stable" setup.
I wonder if three of us XB1 people could try what @PRO_TOO (I believe it was him) said earlier: selecting a set CPU difficulty level (e.g. Top player) and hitting "A" at the same time to see if we get matched up in the same team. I'll be online for an hour or so in the afternoon (5 hours from now more or less) and I'll probably have an intensive session tomorrow in the morning... Maybe we could try if there's someone?

Hey, so just had my first game. I like it. Feels a little bit more sluggish than 2017, slower, yet when you get that pass right and the play connects, it feels great! I also love how the passing has some variations in accuracy as well. Really enjoyed it...

That was there in previous PES titles too. It's definitely helpful though like you say. TBH I don't think advanced shooting is a confusing concept at all, I know some people struggle with it though.

Found this online, posted it in the vids thread but shows the circle in action so I'll stick it here too - a cracking advanced shooting goal. https://video.twimg.com/ext_tw_video/888311652281659394/pu/vid/1280x720/k-XdiYac0J3KHaIE.mp4

1) I think it might be r3 to change. (Have seen a video of it but not sure it's in the beta)

2) Sounds like left stick dribbling, little movements on the left stick, for example a little movement one way then a stronger movement another way, and throw in a burst of pace and you're away.

Are Xbox One's servers global or region specific?

Awesome, thankyou. I will try both of these when I get home.

If the kick off thing isn't in the beta it's no biggie - as long as I have the option to choose in the full game I will be happy.
The dribbling/skills I was seeing sounds like it was what you described so hopefully I will be a tricky little wizard tonight too lol. Thanks again

Adam mentioned on Twitter that only 1% play manual so they not going to put resource behind getting this to work 100%

I feel that they only have 1% because of the lack of control on it. If people keep getting paired with assisted players and subsequently hammered they not going to keep trying.
1% ? so why do a filter without pass support ?
I think we have more players in full manual, than players just without pass support...

played a bunch 1 vs 1 matches, level 5 internetconnection, same pass level...

wow !! just wow, what a game. and what is the passing and the pace of this game insane good!!!

and NO lag!!!!
