PES 2018 BETA Discussion Thread

Why 3 v 3? I know its only a BETA but was kind of hoping me and a friend could play 2 v 2 like we do on the "Other" game. Hopefully come full release we can restrict this to 2 v 2 AND play with friends over PSN Co-Op.

Also I wonder if stats / leagues will exist in Co-Op or if it will just be friendly matches?

Not sure how I feel about manual passing. I think with the speed of gameplay it really needs a 15 minute match to balance up. I end up feeling too rushed to play passes properly, especially if I go a goal behind.

WAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH just scored this manual goal during my lunch hour, what a goal WAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH I know this belongs in the video thread but shut up let me have my moment WAHHHHHHHHHHHH WHAT A GOAL

Im currently in the city having lunch. But watching this and "feeling" your joy, makes me wanna drop my folk and go home to play more of the beta! :D
I'll sure be back with some beta videos of my own.

Can someone explain that network lvl thingy?! I left it at standard 3 since I started playing. What's up with 1 or 5?! What's the better opponent connection?

One thing's for sure, lag absolutely kills the game. It takes an eternity to turn, pass, switch, take a first touch, etc. Only had one laggy game though so far.

Lmao. The keeper's flat on his face. Lost all hope.

Because ... someone can .... have more than one friend?

And yes !
There will be PESLEAGUE for co-op modes as well.
You will be able to play MyClub 3 vs 3. That is the only reason for me to buy this fifa clone with funny - glitching running and dribbling animations

Well I just tried level 1 for the first time and it was a bit laggy. All my games were on level 5 and almost lag free.

If you set to lvl. 3 I find that decent-ish balance regards wait time and likliehood of a smooth game. Not guaranteed, of course.

Yeah, keeper animations on some goals are gold, a thing that i really enjoy.

Ps: dunno why some lads say the graphics for Xbox One are blurry and stuff. For me everything looks sharp, nothing compared to PES17 where indeed i was dissapointed with blurry graphics.

I'm almost literally on my knees praying that this 'lag' some people are moaning about is a planned feature that Konami won't cave in and adjust. Contextual, stats-based button lag is an important PES trait. Responsiveness is a sickly-sweet FIFA trait that should never have become part of our lexicon in PESland. The pendulum has swung much too far the FIFA way and needs to come back now. (Or it might never.) Spirit of PES2014, hold the line...

I love how the feedback on this forum has changed from yesterday to today. For the better.
Love reading you, guys. And this isn't even close to the final thing, apparently. Can only imagine what a great year this will be.

So you mean delay? If so i agree. I was talking about actual network lag. Still only been one game thus far.

There's a massive difference between a player having to take a second to adjust his body for a shot, and ignoring your button press for 2-3 seconds and allowing the defender to take the ball. Complaints about the latter are valid (and entirely due to lag IMO).

I want to see the former as much as you do (believe it or not), but the latter forms no realism (a player casually jogging into a player when there's a shooting opportunity, with seemingly no awareness of the fact that there's a football match going on).

BUT the latter only happens to me when there is lag - actual, acknowledged-by-the-game lag (when you get a little signal indicator appear on the screen to tell you that the connection quality has changed).

When there's no lag, I get a realistically delayed response time to my input (please don't confuse the two or ask Konami to make it any worse)...

I need to ask a silly little question to those who are playing it: Do players look smaller and pitch bigger, like Adam said a few months ago? Like they made it more similar to PES 2013?.

Maybe in the old days but since the Rutter era IMO FIFA is much much more a simulation if it comes to contextual input lag. PES on the other hand is more forgiving. In this sense PES2018 actually seems like a step towards the FIFA crowd, with heavier players and more animations to provide the necessary feedback for contextual button lag. I do agree PES always had more noticeable stat-based button lag then FIFA.

You can do 2v2 actually. Just add your friend as your guest user and it will look and find a group that also has two players already as well on the other end. Me and my brother played three games 2v2.

The shooting isn't too different from 2017 but I get a lot of joy from scoring. I think it's because the build-up play is so gratifying. Also, using manual toggle a la Chris' goal can be sublime. I had manual shooting on to begin with but noticed a few issues with regards to first touch (it literally always makes your player take a first touch before shooting, even in goal mouth scrambles).

I am talking about my friend who is NOT sat in the same room as me and we are on Separate PS4s. Don't think you can do that with the BETA which is understandable.
