Well, I tried that but because I'm not using the default formation for my team I had to redo all 3 formations for fluid formation. I've tried setting the DM to be a CM when we have the ball which helps somewhat but he's still sliding between the cbs when we're on defense. I wonder if setting him to cm when out of possession too will work, or if it will just ruin our shape completely.
 
This game is truly amazing, I'm still treating it like the old games which were broken, but this game is on an entirely new level even better than the old days, reason I say that is Iv actually gone deep with the players playing styles and have found a formation which suits the way I play and I know where those players will run when looking to pass to them, just to give u a small example, im controlling Liverpool and I first initially thought great Iv given the ball to my CM looking for sadio mane to give me a run on the wing, was I wrong about that, sadio mane even tho he plays wide, has the creative playmaker card which means he drops back deep, and after seeing that a few times as well as other cards working with different players, the player styles finally bloody work, previous versions were to inconsistent to the point where I didn't bother, but know u have an unlimited way to create your game, for the first time in a very very long time, Iv actually started writing different formations depending on who I have and where they are likely to create runs for me or drop back, seriously fellas I'm blown away.
 
Man, this game is brilliant. Here's an El Clasico match I played vs the CPU (Superstar + Manual passing). Real Madrid vs Barcelona (me)...went 2-0 up and ended up losing 3-2. Ronaldo, Bale, and co were relentless in attack and I had to injure Ronaldo towards the end lol. Here's a belter I scored with Rakitic.

 
Online is complete crap so far. It feels slow unresponsive and laggy. They seem to be on ice all the time when you try to turn or change directions. I remember this was also the case last year and then they adjusted it to make it more responsive. Any word on whether they will do the same this year ??

Yes, we can freely choose a side with controller 2, 3 and 4, but we can not set a controller to the middle. Meaning: if two user controller teams play each other in a cup of league, they have to be played by human players, so you can not play all the teams in a league/cup by yourself.

You can just default the team back to its original state, then turn on the fluid formations. After you've set the in possession to be the same as the out of possession, then you can change the player's role. Also, I would change the attacking instructions for position to be "Flexible" vs "Maintain Formation" so that you can get everyone involved. PES 17 is too rigid with its formations and tactical adherence, so a little flexibility wouldn't hurt at all.

Btw, not sure if the 5-second fix was mine that was tried or not....

Does your DM have the anchor playing style by any chance ?

I did try it, yesterday. Very good indeed.
Now we just need a Global Editor to do that for all teams.
 
PES 2017 online feels like FIFA 17 offline, not smooth and just unresponsive. Delay when moving and receiving the ball. Sometimes I get better matchups but most of the time it's a disaster. I'm not really an online guy so I'm good, I rather play ML and BAL. Speaking of ML I would really like to see more depth into training, I want to see the training for myself, I want to instruct, train the team, assign the types of training and monitor their progress. That's something I will really be addicted to. I don't know if it was like that on PES 2012/13, don't remember. Also an online ML feature, playing online every time you qualify to the UEFA leagues and Cup would be pretty cool. Now that feature I know PES had before. MyClub or FUT is just not my thing.

Yes it was your fix! The problem is I don't want to use the default formation, it's a 4-2-3-1 and I want to do a 4-4-2 diamond. I don't think there's a way to implement the fluid formation part of the fix if you want to deviate from the default formation.

You could copy the preset tactics of a club that uses 4-4-2 diamond and then load it? I haven't done this myself, so apologies if it's not possible, but I thought I saw something like that in the preset tactics options.
 
Do you think there's anything special about the default without possession formation? Or could I just move my players closer together in my in possession and out of possession formations?

BOOM! Nearly as good as Iniesta's volley vs Celtic last week.
 
I know it's just placebo, but the last few days I've felt like the dribbling is way less responsive.
 
Played my first games today ..the AI is immense .Genoa beat me 2-0 on full manual top player I was liverpool ..first goal a deflection off lucas which looked class, mingolet helpless on the floor..the 2nd one a near post whipped cross from the right and a towering header past the keeper..I need to get my fifa head off ..I'm trying to dribble way too much and loosing possession to be punished on the counter ..great first impressions ..seen some fouls too although the advantage rule still doesn't work properly at all

try combining liverpool with the players playing style cards to enhance your playing style, this game is on a league on its own

Lol Yeah I hear ya, I spent nearly all day writing down different formations combining it with the player info styles on pes master, gonna have to take another sickie tomorrow.

HELP

still cannot stop live updates ruining all my editing!! Kits are ok but everything else gets changed back!!

Someone said click R3 when choosing sides? But that does nothing??? I am playing exhibition but I presume it's still a problem when playing ml etc???

Is there a work around??

you have to press R3 in the screen when you choose teams to play, then go back to screen when you select sides ;)

Exactly the same for me.

Played half a Master League season this weekend and it wasn't for the serious demand to stop from the Mrs it would have been a lot more.

I didn't have one game that felt the same. I had a particularly good game against Liverpool, where they pressed like crazy and I couldn't handle them. After that I switched to tight marking on Coutinho and set Sané as a 'Counter' target, and Sané got in behind to score minutes later. Eventually I just couldn't cope and they won the game 2 - 1 anyway.

There are just so many levels of depth with the tactics, that I think I might actually have to get into if I want to consistently do well in Master League.

Two things they need to do next year is really overhaul the Master League, and fix online play. I know it's difficult for them but they really should be trying to bring Master League up to the same level as Fifa's career mode (which in itself needs its own overhaul). I will say that on initial inspection, transfers are much improved this year though. Had to pay £50m for Aaron Ramsey, which was nearly all my budget. No longer can I overhaul the team with stars in one window.
