PES 2017 PlayStation & Xbox Discussion Thread

Totally agree with you geeee... I remember the days when PES was only about having a great time with mates and not being too worried about foot planting and stuff. Reading discussion, debates, and other peoples view on the game could really kill the fun and get in your head. Like someone posted here before saying "If you want to enjoy PES 2016, don't read evo-web", this could be applied with other pes series hehe..

August 2017......evoweb......PES2018 thread.....

:TUMBLE:

It's the same every year. Geeee, you'll remember all that time we spent trying to get PES 5 and 6 to play better. In the end my infatuation with that completely replaced the enjoyment I was getting from playing the game. Over the last couple of years I've just accepted that I'm older now and, in the grand scheme of things, a very good football game is good enough for the limited time I get to play it in the first place.

I think we are all part of the same collective mind that 1. We are absolutely excited for the full game, and 2. We want the absolute best experience. Why? Like I've been saying, this demo was so good and we have been burned before, so whatever can be a focus to improve it, unlike PES 16, let's take that opportunity. KONAMI listen to their communities, they're a good group of guys there, and I'm confident these areas are adjustments that could be made fairly easily.

Lastly, if I hadn't pointed these out, and they were fixed anyways, would you really have cared? No. But I guarantee you, you'd have a lot more accountability to your play-style when the CPU starts to giving you a run for your money. Then these difficulty levels would truly matter, and people would be talking about how Superstar is actually harder than Top Player and Professional.

The problem is that the "best experience" is not something that can be defined absolutely. Therefore implying that there is an experience that we would all agree is the best one is not necessarily accurate. How can KONAMI 'fix' the game such that every buyer has the best experience possible?

I also don't like how you guarantee that X will happen if Y is fixed/changed. You're in no position to guarantee that - it's intelligent guesswork at best. For all we know, implementing your desired fixes might ruin the game for a lot more people than it pleases.

yup really depressing what some do.
in the past the complaining started after the game was released a few months but now people really go all out even before the game is released.
its like they want to be the first to notice a flaw or mistake just to be able to say afterwards"i told you so".
they are even seeing things that aren't there or really noticeable.
again i say pointing out flaws and things that really need improving are a must and are welcome. i agree with a few already posted here and hope somehow Konami take notice but looking for a needle in a haystack is not what is really needed.

The 'installation' as in the actual application of the files to the game itself would surely be the same with the paid version and the free version? you're literally paying £4.99 for the convenience of not having to do half hour of file/folder organisation...

...well i think anyway, nobody actually knows, i wont be paying anything until its confirmed that's for sure

By installation he means downloading and arranging the free files into the correct folder structure and putting them on a USB stick. I agree that importing the OF into the game must be the same, irrespective of how you obtained it. Nobody seems to know what the import procedure will be like yet, so I wouldn't bother handing over any money yet either.

Add , mod teams over who have no rights and license , and to want money for that . No matter how you try to warped things in the description , i think its illegal.
you can also get it for free and do the installation yourself or just wait for it to pop up online like a other brilliant member posted

Firstly, nobody is forcing them, are they? It's more about getting a response, or opening a dialogue. They could turn around and say "we disagree because X" or "this would impact Y", and that would be great. A real conversation with the community regarding the development.

Secondly, do you honestly think Konami would implement anything if it significantly altered the overall experience? No chance. Especially not after the overwhelmingly positive response from the demo.

What's illegal?
Charging money for a recreation of intellectual property (e.g. Man Utd's home kit).

(Just pointing it out, not saying I agree with it - these guys work hard and I'll be giving them my money, I used to be a modder and it was hard-going... But it is illegal because of the fact that you're recreating something that a license exists for, and charging money for it without paying for that license. I hope it doesn't get shut down, and/or the license-holders decide to sue, because that'll totally screw editing in PES for years to come.)

oh that's the illegal part, the charging money for it?

well lets not blow it up then and keep it on the down low. don't wanna spend hours doing this myself. don't wanna spoil this option in the future also.

I wholeheartedly agree, I'll gladly pay just under R100.00 to have someone just send me a DL to add to my USB via email, instead of creating teams myself. with pleasure, and if people work hard, then they deserve a kickback. Also in a way keeps the community strong.

I'm even going to offer them more money to create classic teams for me, i got no time for that stuff, but love to play with classic teams.

I doubt the payment is what makes it illegal. If I recreate someone's home shirt and give it away for free (40,000 times, say) that must be illegal too. Or indeed both must be legal. But I'm not a lawyer.

Exactly. I've tried explaining this to the people at PESUniverse, but they don't see an issue because they're 'just selling Memory Sticks.'

Don't get me wrong, I've made these mods in the past, I'm a 'somewhat' active kitmaker so I know the time and effort that goes into stuff like this, however I would never, ever think about selling my stuff, even if it was bundled with a memory stick or whatever.

I'm just questioning how somebody can assert that fix A, B or C would definitely improve the game for everybody.

but if its been done in the ps2 era with selling/buying edited memory cards what makes you think that the companies will sue them now.
they aren't doing anything new right or is it the scale that makes the difference this time?
EA can't be happy with this since they bought all the licenses fair and square and will blow it up if they hear about it

It's not exactly black-and-white... It's also illegal to do it for free, yes. But if you're not making money from it, it isn't pursued, because in terms of damages - the guy who's giving it away for free can't be sued because he isn't making money from it, and Konami (who you COULD argue are making money from it) aren't advertising that people are doing this and they aren't promoting that their game can feature unlicensed teams in all their glory.

However, as soon as those modders start charging, you can say "you're featuring our property and making money from it, you don't have a license to do that, so you owe us money".

(This is what two guys I know in the legal profession have told me - PES comes up in the office every now and then...)

Exactly. I've tried explaining this to the people at PESUniverse, but they don't see an issue because they're 'just selling Memory Sticks.'
The product they're selling is advertised as "PES option file", not just "memory stick", so that wouldn't stand up. I've read that they're also selling a single file that you get emailed to you every time that it's updated, too, so in that instance, they're definitely selling a "product" without license.

Again, though, I don't think it's fair that they work for nothing, and I hope the football associations, kit manufacturers, EA etc. decide that any sort of action would make them look bad in the eyes of the public.

but if its been done in the ps2 era with selling/buying edited memory cards what makes you think that the companies will sue them now.
Because FIFA makes more money and licenses cost more money now (both of which earn the FAs etc. more money), and because it's easier to transfer the files now (meaning more potential for lost FIFA sales). That's a two-pronged risk, from the FAs saying "you made money from things we own, you owe us money for our licenses", and from EA saying "we buy exclusive licenses so people have to buy our product and you're bypassing that, you owe us money in lost sales".

But in reality, I'd imagine it won't impact on FIFA's sales, they'd struggle to prove it, and there's every chance they'll ignore it. I hope they do, and the FAs etc. too.

proving it would be one thing but I wonder if it could be argued that Konami were facilitating it by promoting it somewhat on twitter (pretty sure i've seen some kit PNGs retweeted by either adam/asim or official PES) and by talking about the editing process on these channels, as well as that to have these files ready for release day there must have been some inside knowledge shared to OF makers...

selling these files is very risky and could open a can of worms, not to mention morally dubious. I know these guys do a lot of hard work and some people are more than happy to pay them to show their appreciation, i think voluntary donations would have been a better route....

Full manual baby!
Beuties Harley.
Thats why i always bitch with people who whines about "over powered/on rails" and plays assisted.
Once you go manual...

giphy.gif

Scripting ahoy! :D

Which store is that? I think I'm going to go digital again though.

Nice vid!
I like the ball physics on the goal at 4:48.

Great goals Harley!
Yes, I gotta admit I´ve been one of those whiners, but since I play PA0, that on rails passing is no more :).
I enjoy it a lot more that way.
Even basic shooting is enough for me in the demo, I might switch to manual shooting some time as well, cause after I´ve seen Harley´s goals it itches me.

Yeah, I´ve stumbled about this too. 13th for America, 15th for Europe :(
Why actually?

Thanks guys was really delighted with them. That PES joy eh!

I agree with Chris that it's wrong to charge people money for this, if the charge for the flash drive version was purely to cover the costs of a flashdrive + postage then fair enough, but you cannot make profit on this, it will kill the modding scene, both spiritually and legally.

Someone should buy the USB version then extract the content and upload to a hosting site and share with everyone for free. I'm not even buying any version of PES 2017 at this point but I'd be tempted to do that TBH, you cannot sell modding content, it's just the biggest no no both for the community and for the game's developers themselves.

For those who don't want to pay a massive £5 - do your own if you have the time.
I see nothing wrong with paying £5 to get the game looking great.
if you don't want to pay you can still download for free but youll have to sod about with folders. Simple.

ok makes sense. hopefully it doesn't impact their sales and they just ignore it like you said

I didn't say that!

I don't think it is wrong morally - if I spent months of my life creating something that adds in a lot of missing content (and I used to, I made my first patch for a football game at the age of 15, trekking back and forth to internet cafés with boxes of floppy disks)... I think the idea of getting paid for that effort is fair. I just never charged (or requested donations) because I wanted everyone to have it more than I wanted money, and at that age, I didn't really have a use for it.

They're working on something as hard as they would if it was their "actual" job, so I think to want to charge for it is fair enough. It's the legal bit I worry about, and the knock-on effects if any of the big guns decide to pursue it.

That's the part I'm agreeing with you on.

Personally I also feel it's morally wrong, not because they don't deserve the chance to be recompensed for all their work, they do, as everyone does who invests time to create stuff for the modding scene, but there are benign "allowed" methods for this such as ad links, donation boxes, commissioned products (for example referral links to buy things through their website).

Sorry I don't have time to get into this with you because you seem intent on being aggressive about this and overtly so.

I just pointed out that people (yes not only matt but you making as if I am attacking him) are analysing an issue that may not be there. I don't understand your stance on this and surprised by your behaviour.

Also I need to add this and probably incorrectly so as it goes against my better judgement right now but you always seem to side with people who are critical of PES. It's far too obvious mate.

That's the part I'm agreeing with you on.
Ah, sorry - it's just that you said "morally wrong" in your post. I disagree with that (and I'd be gutted to charge for it and find out someone had uploaded it somewhere for everyone to grab for free, especially when all the individual content in the package is going to be available for free as I understand it).
