PES 2016 News & Discussion Thread

The night games could probably use a bit more brightness yes, but the night lighting is nowhere as bad as that one screen depicts. All in all though, the color palette Konami uses is as close to real life as any sports game ever. And PES turfs are dead-on accurate from a color perspective. Compare real photos with screens from PES and FIFA. PES colors, tones, lighting all look like the real thing. EA on the other hand uses ridiculous, over-bright cartoon colors with FIFA.

I read an article a couple years back that talked about the effect of colors on different age groups. Children and teenagers respond to bright cartoon color palettes, the sort EA uses with all their games. Whereas older gamers and adults prefer muted, real-life color palettes.
Well then my TV must have the wrong settings because the colors I see in night matches are more similar to that image that's been posted in the previous page than Konami's game.

I hate over saturated colors but dull lifeless color palette of PES is also not real for me.

Well that's probably part of the issue. I have two 20"+ monitors, these games look completely different on each. On my older monitor, games look dull, brown and washed out on default settings. On my newer monitor they look terrific, I haven't touched any video settings ever using that monitor.

That said, talk is cheap, that's why I posted a screen I took directly off my monitor showing how much brighter the game is in fact, certainly much brighter than that other screen that was posted.

My TV is a 50'' Samsung LED SmartTV. I've tried different presets and they all make night matches pretty similar. It even comes with a "Football" preset and to tell you the truth, I still think Konami has to make night matches colors more vibrant. Specially tufs. Not so much for kits, player skins, crowd... just the turfs-

I just took a screen grab of the Women's WC game playing right now on my PC. Game is being played inside a dome, with lights on in other words. The color, brightness etc. looks spot on when compared to PES 2015 night lighting. If not exact, certainly very very close to real life lighting.

Okay, that seals it then. No need to discuss this anymore, just use your eyes ;)

Discuss all you like. Me, I don't speculate, I post actual pics showing: 1. the lighting in PES 2015 isn't close to being as bad as that one screen; and 2. an actual football game broadcast played under lights that looks pretty much exactly the way PES 2015 night games look.

I understand if people want more brightness, but that's different than wanting a real-life look. PES already looks real life.

Don't mis-understand me, I agree with you!!

100% agree. the color palette EA uses isn't photo realistic at all. It's why most of their games have horrible skin textures and look far from what you see on TV overall.

I get you bro.
But if I did the same, we would be in trouble. Because then I would be right.

I guess Konami won't be able to please everyone in this regard. If PC version was up to the PS4 version, we can fix it with SweetFX/Reshade. But on PS4 there's nothing you can do other than tweak your TV settings, which would make the whole thing more colorful/vibrant whereas I just want the turf to be more alive.

those screens are tricky since, its not wide camera u used for PES :) colors become more vibrant in closer view , just like in 2016. Asim pointed that out too to Adam already thankfuly. but it still could be brighter, they could do something with lighting or be lazy and redo the colour palette of the current turfs

i imagine something like this

and there was no lighting at all in this game, just colours :))

Well... those screens do seem a little over the top, a little too much. I would tone that down about 10%.

This is offtopic, hope you won't get mad but this is something closer to what I would expect:

See? The turf is not over saturated and is not a light green, yet it has a good contrast level and it is vibrant. And that is just PES 2013 with my own Reshade Settings, imagine what Konami could do with a whole Engine at their disposal.

As some of you may know, a list made by the Russian PES community regarding things in PES 2016 that need attention was made here. I've also forwarded this to Adam Bhatti on twitter in hope it gets more attention. Others on twitter have also done the same retweeting and favouriting my tweet. I'd urge others on here with twitter to either do the same or forwarded it to Adam too. The more the merrier. It is a good list of issues that have been hampering the series for a while now and I'm sure we all want it to go forward.

Thanks for your help in advance!

EDIT: Here's my tweet.

Here's PES Russia's tweet.

they are a bit cartoony but its because of the games colour palatte, still bright green is what we need for night time

To be honest, I find the color-palette used by PES 2016 far more realistic than this. It does almost pain at the eyes

I love the dark green pitches. Way better imo.

Amazing analysis but I need to play it myself. Those Russian peeps are pretty spot on in their PES 2015 analysis

IMO what you see now is what we will more than likely get in the final game.

I know it's a great effort sending tweets etc but there is no way at this point in the development that you will see a substantial difference!

The game is being released in Mid Sept, I would have thought they need to allow at least 6 weeks for Disc pressing and logistics so I cannot see 6 weeks of tweaking adding much value.

This is not a post to devalue the great efforts you guys put in to the likes of Adam et al but it's just too late and extremely frustrating that after all these years we still have a lack of features that ultimately hinder the enjoyment.

2015 and you are telling me they cannot get night lighting right, net physics right, 3D crowd models right, Dynamic weather inclusive of snow, flawless online experience, goalkeeper AI, stadium editor, unlimited kit editor..................the list goes on and it's the same list for well over a decade!!

They need to start 2 year releases with an interim patch for kits, balls etc so they can get tangible improvements, for now I see a slightly upgraded 2015 with better edit facilities and more animations......could that not be patched??

I will buy it and I will enjoy it but you cannot help but thinkt Hat the joke is constantly on us!

Thanks for the replies guys. Like I said, it was just out of curiosity. I watched a PES2011 goal compilation earlier (in fact the one ThomasGOAL posted) and the nets looked orgasmic, only negative was what ThomasGOAL said. I then looked at some PES2015 goals and I have to agree with the net lovers, they add lots so much to goals

True regarding the updates and tweaks. It wont change drastically.

Regarding the joke is on us, well no because when you look back at where Konami where in 2008, They shouldn't really even be in this position, PES should of died soon after that game. It taken them so long just to get a PS3 standard engine ready which has crossed over to the PS4.

This year is just gonna be better gameplay and sadly not a gigantic step forward. What Konami need next year is to bottle the gameplay and focus only on animations and responsiveness, The need to focus hard on the graphics and human element of football. We need to see things like body health meters, like in the old smackdown series which monitor stamina and a players bodys condition which show real time injuries and add this element to master league.

a upgrade to the player models and nets, make the pitxh feel like organic and alive with rain, snow and iits wear affecting players and their animations.

I could go on.

Not making excuses but there isn't a game on the market that has all of the features you listed, including FIFA.

PES 2011 - still my fave for fun factor. Because you actually got satisfaction from scoring! You had to get the body shape and ball position right before you could hit a screamer, the keeper looked fully outstretched AND then the net bulged. BOOM! You were out of the chair and watching multiple replays.

The last few years, those three elements have been missing and you cringe when watching the replays.

The night lighting was also good in PES 2011 and look at the lighting and pitch textures during the day game! The shadows on the pitch were subtle and you can tell they are there without having to lose visibility when the ball enters that area.
