PES 2016 News & Discussion Thread

I think the best passing in any PES game was 2011, they had it down right, Then as the years passed it deteriorated with 2015 being pretty horrible. I hope 2016's passing is something like 2011 way. Other than that the last video looks good, I don't think it plays like 2015 from what I could tell.

I would agree with this to a point of PES 11's annoying outside of the foot passing and OP through balls. Granted, they started to fix the through balls in some patches, but the outside foot passes continued. I really did love that game, and honestly didn't mind it - but I know some individuals had voiced their annoyance with it.

Exactly :WORSHIP: That's what I am watch for, for some years.
It's the best FIFA online mode and the only reason why I also buy FIFA.

100%, Nothing beats playing with your mates on one team, well if your winning anyway lol.

Looks like a better version of PES 2015 with the sorely needed physicality put in, but I'll probably judge it on a demo rather than getting sucked in to hype. I haven't missed PES (or Fifa) at all this year.

+ Points

Physicality

Speed of movement (both movement of the ball and players)

Custom celebrations (not to show off but for better immersion)

- Points

The ball doesn't bobble at all when passing

Shooting still looks too accurate (never veers that far off target)

The game still seems to be very orientated towards receiving the ball, trapping it, turning 180 degrees and pegging it towards the goal. It doesn't seem like you'll need to play your way around other players in the midfield again this year (just the final third)

And penalties still look shit

Unfortunaltely , high pressure abuse still remains in the game and it looks like an end to end action football game from these videos.

At least Xbox One version will be 1080p.

For a big part that's up to yourself. If you want to play a slow build up passing game you just have to make sure that you are a good passer of the ball. Nobody forces you to play end - to - end.

Even Winning Eleven 3 had better nets than those in PES 2015. Gameplay is not bad. I was a hardcore PES/WE fan back on PS2. I still play the series on the PS2 emulator. For the first time I get a little bit hyped again. Lets hope PES 2015 will be a serious contender of FIFA 16. Especially on PC.

The best thing about PES 2014 was the battle for the Midfield. For some reason they didn't maintain that. A couple of days ago when the first E3 videos started to emerge, I mentioned the lack of variety in attacking. This is also due to the little battle for midfield and because of the high pressure. And it's something Konami hasn't been able to bring back since PES 2013 which had endless ways of creating scoring chances.

Now all I see is "pass the ball to the higher rated player, and either send in a cross, try a 1-2, a through ball, an outside of the box shot, or attack down the center of the box". That's it.

Although I should also say that the Playstation Access video show a little randomness in ball physics which is good because that might bring a little more variety. Players may make miscalculations which can create new spaces and different attacking options. Hope so.

Which is actually what happens inr eal football in a good 90% of the cases:

Teams with strikers good at heading usually attack on the flanks and send in crosses.

Teams with highly technical players can tiki-taka the ball in the goal (see Barcelona).

Teams that are not that good at passing the ball around sometimes resort to hoofball (high through ball).

Teams that find it difficult to get in the box resort to shooting from outside (see Ecuador against Bolivia the other day).

Teams with fast paced strikers can just give the ball to them and hope them get past their defender and attack from the centre (as when they're past the defender he would have no chance to catchup).

All of this can be done in PES, so you're basically saying that PES offers pretty much any way to score you'd imagine.
And in my opinion is normal that when you have a very talented player in your team he's the one that touches rpetty much every ball when it comes to attacking (see Menez when Milan plays for example).

What I meant is that once you're near the box, there's no need to "re-think" anything. They don't force you to pass the ball back to re-gain some space. And also, you can do the very same play everytime you want because the AI will behave the same exact way. This leads you to see the same 4 or 5 moves everytime since PES 2014. That doesn't sound look real football. You don't see exactly the same moves three times in a game.

Very good points!

little more optimistic with that i've seen but yeah, this game needs a modern collision system to bring it to life.

Passing and first touch were abit too perfect at times for all players., there were glimpses of variation in passing but not enough, could be the assists they were playing on, will need to play the demo and reserve my judgement till then.

+1

Konami always thinks that because it's night, it has to be darker and more dreadful looking than in day-matches. While in reality it's just as bright or even brighter in nightgames, just that the lighting is more white than the yellow lighting the sun provides.

And all they have to do is watch one game and tell the difference. I don't understand either. They're probably better off giving us brightness, contrast and saturation options to play with.

Agree, it's like on rainning at day time, it's too dark, Konami need to know in the real life at day time the lights of the stadium are on.

The lighting look good on the trailer at 1:50

We know the light on the night games are not the same in PES 2016, it's maybe not in the E3 demo.

"New Visuals – Incorporating the many advancements of the Fox Engine the visuals have seen a huge upgrade. See the rain splash as players slide in to win possession, or the turf kick up as you strike the ball into the top corner. New night-time lighting and real turf textures add to some of the many improvements."

i remember one dev video of pes 2010, they had the real life and game picture of anfield road side by side, that looked really good, but i think it was just for day time if i remember correctly, anyways they should try that again

They probably kept it like that to present it as some new feature down the line. I can understand things that aren't implemented due to licensing, disk space (even if that excuse can't work anymore lol)but some basic elements should have been in this games years ago.

The night lighting is nowhere near that bad, obviously just a poor screen shot. This is what my night games look like in comparison to that crappy screen, using plain old default settings. People are trying real hard to find things wrong with the game it seems.

still good that sweatfx is available on pc
Not needed. The game and lighting looks just fine on default video settings, night games included. I haven't touched a single setting on my nvidia control panel with PES. Whereas I had to fiddle around with all sorts of settings for FIFA, trying to get rid of the cartoon look of that game.

You guys need to tweet Adam all these comparison images.
He said they'll work on the graphics more between E3 and Gamescom and then polish it a little bit more before release between Gamescom and release.

It's important they know that night matches need to have more colorful turfs, more brightness, etc. It really adds to the immersion.

The night games could probably use a bit more brightness yes, but the night lighting is nowhere as bad as that one screen depicts. All in all though, the color palette Konami uses is as close to real life as any sports game ever. And PES turfs are dead-on accurate from a color perspective. Compare real photos with screens from PES and FIFA. PES colors, tones, lighting all look like the real thing. EA on the other hand uses ridiculous, over-bright cartoon colors with FIFA.

I read an article a couple years back that talked about the effect of colors on different age groups, and how color palettes are often used to target specific groups of consumers. Children and teenagers respond to bright cartoon color palettes, the sort EA uses with all their games. Whereas older gamers and adults prefer muted, real-life colors, the sort Konami uses.
