PES 2016 News & Discussion Thread

Commentary – New commentators have been introduced for both UK and Germany, with Peter Drury and Marco Hagemann joining the PES team. A wealth of new lines and specific stories have been recorded dedicated for Master League, responding to player transfers, player growth and team performance.

really? new commentators? why is nobody talking about it? or is fake? cant believe my eyes.

Because we already did mate ;)

Please explain.
Are people who preorder stupid?

I'm very curious.

Well, not stupid but generally pre-ordering makes little sense these days. Pre-ordering was the real deal back in the day when gaming stores had limited amount of copies on release date and also there wasn't so much info about game before it was released.

Today on release date, you can watch hours of gameplay and read hundreds of reviews so you can make up your mind and decide if the game will be disappointment or not.

In my opinion, pre-ordering has a negative effect. Seeing Day 1 patches and shipping unfinished games is the norm now. Games should sell based on their quality, not on marketing and hype. This breeds lazy and unambitious developers.

stupid? whats this negative attitude towards others? people who preorder 2016, probably loved 2015 and/or have a lot of money to spend or/and not precautious enough

Does anyone think maybe the "meh" "not impressed" could be to do with that video of that gambling football game? People wanted to see similar graphics.

Im guessing we'll get a demo 2 weeks before the release date so late August/early September seems most likely.

It is so hard?
at least in this video, animations and movements best
the game has more life
1:39 fantastic shoot animation

LOL. Just by watching that video I now understood exactly what KONAMI tried to do with the new PES 2016 trailer. Collisions. Goals. Crowd Reaction. Dribbling. Which is a little worrying quite frankly, since most of it could just as easily be CGI.

For example, cloth animation are nowhere to be found in close up gameplay camera, while in some of the screenshots, they make it look as if it was actually there. Take this for example:

Look at the shirt. The wrinkles. Now look at the trailer and that IGN gameplay teaser. You can barely see any of that. All of this got me wondering how much of the official trailer is actual gameplay footage.
The night lighting, the turf, the resolution.

P.S: The ball in that image looks a little too big IMHO.

Those wrinkles are not actually "kit physics", and they've been there forever.

And yeah, actual kit physics seem to be completely missing.

I'm hoping the gameplay is great, ML is much improved, etc.

But man, I actually miss having more comedy heads to choose from. There's only so many times I can shout 'KING OF THE NORTH' whenever the wolf-headed Robb Stark turns out for Fantasy Rovers.

Quick compare with neymar from pes15 pc

IF... let me say that again: IF the PES 2016 screenshot is actually from within a match, and not render stuff, then we can see an actual improvement of the graphics. In the lighting, resolution and sharpness mostly.

I also hope the color palette are vibrant from the gameplay camera. Because usually they make it so dull and neutral.

I saw a couple of negatives in the trailer (slow diving goalkeepers, nets that don't move, non contextual shooting animations) but visually it looked a little better and I'm hoping it looks sharp on the Xbox One.

Ideally some of the gripes have been or will be sorted by release date but it does seem they've been putting a lot of work in, based on the list of improvements. We won't be able to tell how well they've been implemented but it would be tough to say that Konami have been resting on their laurels. Of course they can't go from building a solid base to perfect game in one year but it seems to be a decent list of improvements.

Proof will be in the pudding...or the demo. Whatever you prefer :P

Having just watched that trailer again, I can't understand why Konami can animate all those flicks and tricks so well but something simple like shooting animations look like they were done by a work experience kid?!?!?!

Like that shot where Ronaldo flicks it with the outside of his foot and the keeper saves it. NEVER WOULD HAPPEN. He would try and smack that ball as hard as possible across the face of goal.

The goal that Higuain scores for Napoli. He is 1 v 1 with the keeper and instead of side footing it home he pokes his foot straight and the ball goes to the right. Why? It's not Futsal! He would never do that in that context.

I don't care how well the AI plays, but if players use cringeworthy animations to shoot with and then the net doesn't even move, how can you feel any kind of satisfaction in scoring a goal? Someone should tell Konami that "gameplay" isn't just about player AI. It has to cover EVERYTHING on the pitch.

I just watched the IGN teaser again.
I noticed that Neymar's boots are different from the E3 trailer.
In the teaser he is wearing the blue hypervenom while in the trailer he is wearing the new hypervenom 2.
Another sign that the IGN teaser code is indeed an early build.

there is no 'kit' actually. kits are merged with player models. Kits were separate in PES 2014, but they have moved from that.

Wasn't it part of the quit that was separate (like the bottom part of the shorts, and sleeves)? It's no longer the case, even since last year? Wow

Pogba should have smashed Neymar's leg at least
I thought that when watching the trailer but couldn't think of how to word it or demonstrate what I meant easily!

This is the kind of thing where I really want to ask the devs, "you must see this stuff so how is this okay given the physics engine in your competition's game*, how is this not a priority?"

*Yes, I know FIFA's physics has its moments - e.g. players snogging each other - but it's brilliant in comparison, a true achievement no matter if you like the game or not.

It's also the kind of thing that I believe is down to the Fox engine and it's "scalability" (i.e. we need to be able to release this on multiple platforms so we can't evolve in this area).

How could we direct this GIF to someone at Konami effectively? (Also, is it a waste of time...)

Gabe, tweet it to everyone, please!

okay.

there is no Konami-PES press conference at E3? the press just go up and play and gets an interview? but when? after EA (10pm, GMT+1) or before?
