PES 2016 News & Discussion Thread

There are some cool details that went unoticed by most on the IGN gameplay that help to create a good atmosphere to the match.

Look at the german player crying for a PK. Look at Oscar on his knees doing something similar.

These are very realistic, natural behaviour from the players. We see players immediately reacting that way after falling inside the big area everytime.

I gotta admit that the atmosphere on rainy weather looks very realistic. There's a foggy blurry thing about it that's very cool.

They should really do something with the Scoreboard and HUD though. Something more TVish.

Fucking spot on, mate.

My thoughts on everything about PES 2016 so far are that I knew it. I knew they would add stuff. Improve stuff. Change stuff. Nothing HUGE.
That's why I'm not feeling let down. You feel let down when you expect a lot out of something.

When I got PES 2014, I kept having this sour taste in my mouth every time I exited the game. I kept thinking "if they make it a lot more responsive and add tons of new animations, with slightly improved graphics for PES 2015... it'll be the best game ever".

When I got PES 2015, I went through the exact same chain of thoughts. "If they make it even more responsive and add a lot of new animations, oh and they make 1 vs 1 challenges between say Messi and Marcelo, to be able to dribble without having to tap R2 or use the right stick, plus they improve the LOD on PC, and update the graphics a little, this will be the best game ever".

And right now I can't tell if they fixed that or not. Because I'm sure we will ALL get a "new" feeling the first time we try PES 2016. A good new feeling. The question is: How long will it last?. How long will it take for us to see behind the curtains?.

I have a worrying sensation that defenders will fall over "Boateng Style" a lot when you get passed them, overly exagerated. I have a feeling that aerial challenges will be all over the place. I have the feeling that Dynamic Weather will be extremely ridiculous they way Konami is implementing it. I AM SURE weather WILL NOT change during each half time, but between each half. Because that's what Konami does.

But I'm also sure it will be better than PES 2015. Which is what I wanted afterall.

The only way we can get something that doesn't resemblance the last PES from the previous year is when they change the Engine. PES 6 to PES 2008. PES 2013 to PES 2014. So for those who want that "EVERYTHING IS SO DIFFERENT AND NEW THAT I'M EXCITED ABOUT THE GAME BECAUSE OF THAT FACT ALONE" feeling, well... those will have to wait till KONAMI decides to invest on a new engine for PES. Which will be in a couple more years I'm sure.

Yeah, good post, this is the end of a 3 year cycle for PES as shown in the last 9 editions including PES 2016, Konami makes changes after 3 years.

PES 2008-2010 Where all similar titles, then they revamped the engine for 2011 and to 2013 the games where similar. Now we have 3 games on a brand new engine. There have been no upgrades to this engine within the period, hence which it was obvious this year would be very similaar to last years.

Next year as long as PES 2016 doesn't fuck up, which it wont because the changes aren't big and shouldn't cause any big bugs, i'd expect well will see some big enhancements, and upgraded Fox Engine build from the one the game currently runs on which is centered soley around the ps4 power.

The current game is still built to fit into the PS3 console rather than the new generation. If PES has another good year, i really dont see anything stopping them from going all out on pes 2017.

What Konami must focus on for 2016 onwards is to put everything on responsiveness. Go all out, go round the world and capture hundreds of thousands of different animation styles from all over the world, get a few different top players in. Really start to push and double the capacity on their models. Go into the fitness and human aspect of players, who have condition meters, almost like what you used to see in WWE games and other fighting games on the PS2. Real dynamic crowd animations and people leaving the stadium if loosing, changing the match ambiance, subs warming up, managers on the touchline.

PES productions should have the money to push on from its own profits let alone what Konami do or allocate them.

One more thing i'd like to say the Commentary for the first time will be good this year on PES.

Like i posted in another video, Peter Dury is a very, very good Commentator and was brilliant in this game. He WILL know what lines and scripts work. He can step in and amend the mistakes and also hes working with his mate in Jim Beglin, so they will have great, natural banter between each over.

im more like why there are no GKs in this vid?

Seems to be on a really low level. The guy reviewing it is probably shit.

I also get the feeling Konami have held back with this early gameplay video, what was quite clever last year from Adam and the team was after the pulled trailer fuck up, they decided not to hype the game much or at all in the summer and the positive news grew from word of mouth and in coincidence a leaked video which was impressive.

The keepers are crap in that video, almost crap on purpose and we will see a continued 'progressing as the game draws to the demo.

Very basic and simple but effective marketing technique.

I hope the keepers are crap on purpose in the ign clip. Some of Manuel's reactions are embarrassing slow. Hard to believe they would have that issue again.

I'm backing my previous comment where I said "I knew this would happen" with no sadness, no hard feelings, no disappointment whatsoever by saying this: IF and WHEN they announce the PC version will be EXACTLY THE SAME as the PS4 version, I will preorder the game. I've never preordered any PES in the past. I did Preorder FIFA though.

This, in my case, means that I liked PES 2015 and that I know PES 2016 will be just a significant update of 2015, but I'm sure it's the update I wanted all along. This does NOT mean that this is what I would have expected from PES, 3 - 4 years ago. Back then, I would have expected that by 2016, the PES saga would reach perfection, close to real-life graphics and excellent animations and gameplay. We're sooo far from it. It can clearly be seen in these very short videos. But still, PES 2016 will be the update I was looking for when I played PES 2014 and 2015.

eww hope thats not true :CONF: hope Asim records his games on at least top player at E3

getting bored of having a social life, this reveal doesn't do anything for me unfortunately, hopefully the demo can spark something.

looks like a ps2/3 game still

It's all about EXPECTATIONS.

For example, when PES 2015 DEMO came out, I remember myself thinking "WOW... Jenkey will turn this game into such an incredible game. Faster animations (like he did for PES 2013), HQ graphics, perfect LOD, Tweakable cameras... it'll be amazing!". Jenkey never showed up throughout the whole year. Hence, I felt disapointed and couldn't play PES 3 days in a row because the cracks would show so quick that it made me wanna quit the game.

So... if your expectations for PES 2016 weren't high to begin with, I'm sure you'll be on my boat when it comes out and we're the first people to say "Very good game overall. Far better than PES 2015. Just what I needed", which doesn't mean "perfect", not even close.

Great analysis by Asim and Bryan. Very true what they say about the game play visuals.

Hope it can be addressed. Very amped to get my hands in the demo.

Konami's PES product manager [Adam Bhatti] cites death threats from last year, refuses to answer any questions surrounding the PC version of PES 2016. …

Notice how wide (I think it's Gotze or Ozil) is at the top of the screen. RARELY does anybody defend like this. This is a man marking system. And it's really hard to pull off. I'm very new to football, so I'm always shocked when nobody seems to point this out.

This is how Bayern played Barca in the first leg at the very beginning and got torched. This is further back on the pitch obviously, but look how wide Bayern is on Barca's fullbacks. Only a few teams ever played Barca like this. I remember Celta doing the same thing...

Now this is how basically every other team defended Barca:

Clearly I'm only giving Barca examples, due to I watch every single one of their games, but this holds true with nearly every other game you'll watch.

Replaying Pes 2014 and Fifa 14, this was not an issue. It's like this only wanted to start last year :D But this is a big reason why defending is Pes is so shit. The middle of the field is often WIDE open. Hopefully the compactness setting actually works this year

Bhatti, worst PR ever born, ne just doesnt know his job.
I guess that means that PC version will be like 2015...

He is not community manager anymore.
Really? My faith in mankind is restored. :APPLAUD:

On a serious note, last year there was that guy, Luca, that used to know way more than Bhatti could even imagine.
He, or someone working close to him, should be our man.

broxopios, your interesting in that you don't like any football game whatsoever.

You get the PES6 people, the PES5/WE9 people, The PES 2013 people, the positive people, the FIFA people, those who are getting tired of football games and post more in the gaming section, then there is you, who just hates every footbal game apart from the inde project from that dutch guy.

So i made a comment about the gameplay teaser from ign and i became football game hater? Really? For the history i love PES 5 & 6 and i just can't tolerate that we have 2015 and football games can't reach the passion and feeling those games have.

As for the indie project, i don't like it so much (at this stage). I just support his efforts and the potential this game has.

Back to topic now.

What i don't like mostly in PES 2015 and i saw it clearly in yesterday videos, is the poor footplanting, the skating and bad transition between animation.

Here is an example from PES 2015. If this isn't a major issue KONAMI have to fix, then they should take out their motto "the pitch is ours".

I just hope that all those new features and improvements will make into Xbox 360 version of the game too, not only in new gen, otherwise I am not interested!

Don't worry, these features are designed to stretch the old-gen as much as they can.
I don't worry that last gen can't handle them - I know that it can, but I am not sure if Konami will include them in XBox 360 version of the game, like other game developers are doing in FIFA, NBA and WWE games by adding only new features to this gen versions of the game...
