PES 2015 Discussion Thread (PS4/XB1)

The game just looks very arcade like. I think it was Klashman that said it looks like PES 6, spot on, it looks EXACTLY like it. I was hoping for PES 2013 with better physics, AI, graphics and more animations but it looks like we have got PES 6 HD. Whats worse is it looks like the game is going to be well received which means they will continue along this arcade route rather than the more realistic one they were on, I may just be playing PES2013 for the rest of my gaming life.

So you want more a PES 2013 with better physics, rather than a PES 6 with better physics?

Can you tell me why?

Personally i think PES 2013 is the most robotic and restrictive PES i ever played. Plus the script in PES 2013 is painful.

Said that, i have to play PES 2015 to see the feeling.

And something else. Everyone say that PES 5 & 6 (for me 5) are the benchmark of PES series. And KONAMI this year said that we want to bring back that level. But i'm not sure if they know what those games had and still today are so addictive.

It's not only the better responsiveness. It's the tactical depth, the better passing and shooting system and the spectacular balance between attack and defence. I'm not very optimistic that PES 2015 will offer these elements.

The mood of the people overhere about PES 2015 looks like the bar-graph of a serious ill patient in a psychiatrical hospital. One moment people are happy about PES 2015 and the next moment people are pessimistic about the game.

Come on guys, it is easily the best PES since PES 6 :)

Translated from Dutch:

"One of the most special aspects of PES5 was that it had that feeling of momentum. The lesser team in a match stays in trouble and messy passes feed the feeling of invincibility of your opponent. Shots that get intercepted by defenders, passes that miss their target and hobble over the sideline, corners that are stupidly given away; they all add to the unique story of the game.

The game and its story make their return in PES2015, we noticed. Gone is the fighting against unresponsive and illogical controls. Tactically teams are more correctly positioned and every player has his own qualities or lack of. In our game we scored a Muller goal with the same blind dedication as we know from him in real live. The same sternness we saw from Juve's Vidal who just doesnt seem to get tired.

The fun of PES2015 goes further then just scoring goals. Controlling a match, the midfield battles and making a decisive pass when u want to; that is PES2015. But messy goals, errors and clumsiness, that is also PES2015. In contrast with the somewhat clinical and predictable gameplay of the FIFA series PES2015 will make you more error-prone at times when you're already having a ruff time surviving.

Tackling your opponent stays unalterably challenging and kicking someones heels in the process will results in a merciless red card. It will make u want to change your tactics because otherwise the holes in your defense will no doubt be exploited.

Thankfully the defending in PES2015 is also a true sport in which u can become more skillfull, you can take risk or avoid them. Clearing balls from the penalty area is a valid tactic in the last minutes. Should the situation be less everything-or-nothing then a calm sidepass towards your back is easier.

Also in one-on-one situaties PES2015 seems to have struck the right balance. Skill and speed against timing and souplesse give both sides enough weapons to make it the opponent difficult. A handy lob passed a defender is possible and a solid bodycheck or tackle can save u from a dangerous crossball."

Just some thoughts. Game is still too end to end, with little or no impact (in relation to the time) of stamina and fatigue. These guys are running non stop.

Still looks too fast, again though, don't know what settings everything is on. The human v human game is a bit shit, it's the way that they are playing it though probably.

Overall...don't know. Once again will probably have to take the plunge after the demo and play it myself. Probably a little underwhelmed to be honest, but the proof will be in the eating.

I still crave for a game that isn't so easy to get from end to end though, and that requires a little more chess like play; there's just space everywhere it seems with little or no effort to just get forward and no need to go back or sideways. I also think everyone's first touch looks Messi like, and that everyone can dribble with his ease.

You see football IRL whereby players (especially defenders) are reluctant JUST to pass it into midfield with pace for fear of that man losing possession. This all comes down to pressure on the ball, first touch and the ball bobbling and bouncing. Everything just still seems so fluid, so easy, requiring little strategic thinking.

Saying all that, I've learned that watching videos and particularly human v human ones are a waste of time, because it's a) not how I play it b) hopefully World Class or Superstar mode will make it hard just to get forward.

I enjoyed 2013 and learned to like 2014 a lot, so I'm optimistic. So anyway, let's just wait and see.

Funny how this would also be an excellent critique of the FIFA gameplay vids. PES is looking the better of the two in terms of gameplay alone, imo, but hopefully both games play a bit different than they're looking at this stage.

I dont get people in here. For about seven years, we had bad bad games, konami lost the king chair and massive sales, something must have been wrong hasnt it?

Now they give what 95% of people want and yet people moan its to responsive or to arcadey. Pes 5 or 6 were arcadey to but because of the depth the games had it had the perfect balance between fun and and depth. We had the tatics aspect and the player id.

Now they showed us in vídeos and by the reviews, of the ones who played it, player id is great, responsivness is as pes 6, and i still see momentum, but not as ridiculous as pes 2014, that cut all the joy. Now its about the feeling of the game with your hands in the controller.

First touch is massively important in a realistic football game and it is something that Konami did so right from 2011 - 2013. The first touch in 2015 looks terrible, it seems everyone has perfect ball killing ability no matter what pass they are receiving. And to throw salt in the wound they appear to have abandoned their philosophy on player movements and the effect of momentum. The dribbling looks ridiculous, with tight, lightning fast movements and god like ball control for every player.
The game just looks very arcade like. I think it was Klashman that said it looks like PES 6, spot on, it looks EXACTLY like it. Yeah, i know we are thinking along the same lines but i'm still optimistic it can and will be a good game in its own right.

I do hope that they take this base and they do attempt to advance the game by going back to the movements and tactical outlay of PES 2013 because following the PES 6 or PES ps2 style will only get Konami so far. I think it will work this year but if they try stick with the style the limits of those games will hold the series back too much.

I agree about the dribbling, looks very weird, i find it strange that PES 2013 looks more realistic and organic in it's movement, the players especially when sprinting look rather odd. I'll comment on first touches when i play the demo as possibly the short match lengths are making them seem better.

I already have prepared myself to be playing PES 2013 again this year, i have the world cup project i will continue to work on.

translation maybe? in a summary i mean

Well they said what everyone has been saying basicaly... The game is fun, the Goalkeepers aren't amazing, but they're solid... passes and shooting are responsive and require some skill.. but they also found a few errors when trying to turn the player... they said that sometimes there aren't enough animations to do something!
They also said that the ball physics are amazing!
The pace of the game is really good, and that when they saw some videos on YT, they were afraid of it being to fast... but when they finally played it.. it felt really good..
But at the end of the day, they're happy with the game... and the key word here is.... FUN!

Sry the bad English with these long posts!! :JAY:

thanks :) im kinda positive about they'll polish all these stuff until the demo, at least til the final product.

IM KINDA POSITIVE!? ABOUT PES? fuck me. what happenend?

Sounds pretty good then, although I'm always cautious when anyone uses the word "amazing" in regards to anything anymore.

PES 2015 will include weekly updates a la FIFA. Excellent.

When we will have and taste this new Pes we will stop moaning. until now it's just words. No demos, no final code yet.

i cant even remember of PES6. i played recentyl PES5 on PS3...dated. but still me and my mates played the most with PES6 as far as i remember. almost every weekend we met. and i played a lot on my own and with my bro every afternoon too.

so had to be fun i guess

I'd like to see how the not so strong teams handle. If I'm playing as Burnley vs Paderborn, there shouldn't be Messi like dribbling and Pirlo precession passing among the players. The players should feel a stiff. I remember it was like that on PES1 and PES2 - when you played with s weak team, the players felt stiff and heavy to xontrol, compared to more technical gifted teams.

I don't know where people are getting this "first touch is perfect" from. I watched most of the videos posted here and have seen the ball bobble up and not be stuck to the players foot all the time. Anything more and these guys aren't professional footballers but 8 year old kids in a park. I've played FIFA with some of the weaker teams and my god, is it frustrating to have even simple passes bounce 5 metres away because their first touch stat is bad.

One of the first things that he say is something very negative and worrying. It's about the right stick dribbles. They still with a LOT of delay when you doing them (he say that happens even with skilled players) and he hopes that for november can be be fixed.

On 2014 it was the same problem. :(

Nice one!

I like the shot from Fernandinho on around 6:30.
Nice smacker, uses his strong foot, got kicking power 87 and the long ranger card according to the PES 2014 database.
So it makes sense.

That´s something I hope they did the right way as it got lost in PES 2014.
I don´t wanna be able to do strong shots with every single player.
I hope it´s more stats based, like in PES 2013.
There I had Lampard in my MLO team and it was always a joy letting him shoot from outside the box.
Couldn´t do that with a player with a weak kicking power.

Also nice:
Hulk dribbling @13:00!
Proof of way better response?

I also like the lighting around 15:45 when Alves is dribbling and the players move from shadows through the sunrays.
Looks good on their bodies.

From all videos I´ve been watching I can say that I´m very optimistic. Yep, there are a few ugly ones out there but it´s mostly because of the way people play it.

Ball physics, more freedom on the pitch, passing and shooting, i.e. gameplay overall looks good.

What I hope/want/wish is that it´s really based on older releases and I´m talking about the hazards happening on the pitch.
I want unpredictable situations and those "Wow! What a goal!" stuff.
That´s something I kinda miss in PES 2014.
It happens, but way too rare.

I hope they got this right and I´m quite optimistic about it.
This and like I said up there, stats based gameplay.

And I hope that online gaming will be better again.

I´m not overhyped, but optimistic and a little concerned about the PC version but I guess I´ll screw all of that and gonna get it on day 1 :P

EDIT:

On 2014 it was the same problem. :(

Wasn´t really a problem for me on PES 2014 but I don´t use it that much and it´s set on Auto feint.

Hi Stringer, unfortunately you will not be able to play against Paderborn as the Bundesliga will not be in the game...

But i can see your point and i agree with you.

After the recent games all PES fans have every right to be a little bit sceptical about PES15. Every year I say I wont get excited but I do. This year is no different even though Ive bought and sold every PES since PES11 within about a week due to its shitness. Im gagging for PES15 demo. I want it now!!

I think PES15 looks ok - keepers still look a bit poor in certain situations so hopefully they can be sorted.

http://www.vg247.com/2014/08/29/fifa-15-like-ping-pong-says-pes-2015-dev/

“We have a game that lets you play real football; you can play counter-attacking, possession, long-ball,” he said.

“Which you can’t do in the other title, where it’s more like ping-pong.”

More like ping pong. Harsh!

i'm sorry but this guy can't be PES European brand manager

That´s actually what Assistant producer Klaus Garner said.

Adam just said that PES 2015 has better shooting and goalkeepers, and is generally more realistic.

And "FIFA is all about scoring goals”, and that EA Canada designs to fulfil the desires of “a lot of people who just want to be able to score goals and have their lobbed-through ball work every time".

That ping pong stuff didn´t come from him.

Taking cheap shots at the opposition is not the way to bring "their" fans to PES.

Please someone in Konami just appoint another bloke to the job. This guy is completely unprofessional at this. He may be good at develop the game and be a big part of the UK studio, but as a brand representative he's the worse you can possible imagine.

For years Konami stance was always "we let the game speak for itself". They try to replicate football, and everyone knows that FIFA doesn't, just catering for casual football fans and people that couldn't really care about realism. But not once they throw that out there. Now comes Batthi and class is trown out of the window...

Errrmmm, when you actually read the article, you'll see that it wasn't Adam who said those lines.

Why talk about FIFA in the first place?

He didn't say the ping-pong line, but he meant that on the through balls bit.

And as a brand manager he's responsible for what comes out of the mouth of his assistent, employee. Especially on a interview with both present.
