I have a hard drive coming tomorrow or Tuesday. I Could, i'm unsure but i could be able to record footage from my new laptop and just upload it.
Defending in PES 2013 is an art! Its about:
1. positioning. the first and most important part.
2. Understanding the individuality, ability and team tactics of your opponent.
3. Balance between defence and attack.
1. Positioning is everything for defending, people talk mainly about the direct play from the AI and players being able to dribble round them. its simple. Space, there is too much space for them to pass into hence the direct play and you giving the AI too much space to dribble into them.
If you don't give the AI space, they don't dribble past you or play super direct in the first place.
When i speak again about positioning. I mean you need to look at your formation, look at the designated positions you give them, and decide when the opposition have the ball where you want each outfield player to be depending on if the AI have the ball in their own half, just in your half and in the the last 30 yards in your area.
The best point is put within your mind how you want the ten outfield players to line up off the ball when the opponent attacks. This is where tactics is EVERYTHING, absolutely EVERYTHING for defending. Defensive line is obviously how deep you defend. if you defend too deep you cant get out and attack but the AI have massive issues getting past you which is great, defend high and you leave space in behind but it's great if you have a great team to pin the opposition in their own half. You NEED to combine this using the team mentality which is the 5 little dots which appear at the bottom of the screen, You hold L2/R2 and press down or up on the D-pad to change you mentality defending and attacking. Ths changes your player AI off the ball, so if you facing a big team and you need to defend or if you feel you want to keep things tight you need to interchange with this a lot ingame.
So when it comes to Defending, don't just rush to the ball carrier and jockey him or mad pressure him, no, think, make sure you look at your team, where are they on the pitch, if you left back is out of position, just select him and get him to move back into position, forget about everything else if there is no threat, do not EVER pull people out of position to jockey a player for the sake of winning the ball back quickly, you will just concede!
When it comes to tackling the main people you need to focus on is your midfield. You need to make sure when you select your midfield which player tackles and where, how far back you want the player to drop back if drop back at all and what zones need covering. take the 4-5-1 or 4-2-3-1 for example. You can have two sitting midfielder, one sitting one box to box or two all action center midfielders. When defending, your front-men should be positioned well enough so you can for starters look to select you defensive midfielder to mop up attacks in the center. When the AI is attacking in and around your last 30 yards, its usually your back 4 who holdup or usually your full back holding up the opponent, the most important player to have is your defensive mid intercepting the AI.
Lastly for this part, it's important to understand your defense's ability. Defence rating plays a very key in how organized your defence will be naturally. Defence 90 and up you won't have to worry too much about organization,t hey will organize themselves, all your input makes them more perfect. 89-80, it's good, 79-75, is ok depending on form and under that is a worry. You will noticed most fullbacks and midfielders will very rarely have 80 or so defensive rating, this is Konami understanding how bad modern football is and how the majority of fullbacks really can't defend well. It was a shock almost to me playing with my patch playing as France, all the back had over 85 'Defence' rating, just how brilliantly they defended as a team compared to modern teams. This is very important, the higher the rating the better the player tackles and it helps what types of defending you can do, i will be back later to discuss the other parts.
