question to you guys.

how do I cancel the forward run of a player I select with L2 and right stick. sometimes I choose the defender or wrong player and I don't want them to run upfront?

Nice to see someone on the same boat re: manual passing.

You actually raised another point that I agree with, the custom camera doesn't zoom out as far as I had expected it to be. It's only one-bar different from Wide cam. I think this issue can be easily fixed by Konami. I really wish the zooming out would allow for something like the kick off camera:

i know. the custimisable zoom is basically only there to zoom in, not out

re that picture, i would use a similar camera to that. maybe a tiny bit more zoomed and a little higher ( so its a little closer to a birds eye perspective)

i cant see them adding more options in the custimise menu so my only hope is that i can use the 'Blimp' camera from pes 2013 and use the custimise menu to zoom in. that would be just right i think

here is the blimp angle from 2013, to zoom in a little on this would be close to perfect for me:

What's there to think about?

They are special abilities and are properly explained as to what they do in-game for years and years now. They make these players unique.

Seriously again do you have any idea what you're on about or are you just trolling in here, again?

I understand Steel's argument on this one:

He makes the case that it wouldn't be needed to resort to cards to introduce individuality, that it should instead be all achieved within the binary stats-system.

And I understand your's and other's argument:

That it wouldn't be possible to achieve the same individuality limited to the stats-system alone.

But eventhough I understand both sides of the argument, I'm not yet sure which side is right.

but it would. to simplify the argument: as it is every 'card' is either on or off -- you either have it or you don't. i am proposing that every 'card' should be a 'stat' so that players have varying levels off skill within that card.

i do not understand these hostile responses. it is a very simple and, i feel, obvious method which makes a lot more sense both in realism and application.

Hi all. Anyone here agrees that in this leaked demo manual ground passing (0-bar or L2) is dull and underpowered compared to assisted passing? I can't seem to enjoy my passing game because of this. I really hope it's improved in next week's demo.

I agree with, but i found a way.... well atleast seems to work for me..... when using Manual pass..... and you need to do a pass to a bigger distance, just use :triangle:
The ball will travel faster and the distance will also be bigger! :))

Sorry my English..... I'm sure I made a lot of mistakes there!! :P

You will probably love this as well, try Square then X for the keeper to perform a fake goal-kick from his hands. ;)

Also, I played quite a bit more of the demo last night, albeit against the CPU. I must admit, I found it pretty tough on the default difficulty level. I can't find an option to see or change what difficulty level it actually is, but I'd be surprised if it was Regular.

Also, I found the CPU AI played very much like a very good human player, I was shocked to be honest. I decided to start cutting out the options as opposed to jockeying in close quarters. The CPU, who was in my half at the time, passed it around beautifully, had me chasing shadows for the most part. They then proceeded to pass it back to the midfield, then defence, then their CB hit it back to their keeper from 30 yards out. I don't think I have ever seen that before in a PES game. I was stunned. :CONFUSE:

I really hope they don't change that side of the CPU AI on release, as it all felt so real and natural. I limited all the options and they just went all the way back and started again. Brilliant, absolutely brilliant.:APPLAUD:

I like your post Jimmy G, but you humans still don’t get it do you?
It is I who have all the exclusive rights to post gifs in this part of the galaxy!!!

For me, the button lag is the game breaker . It was for PES 2010, it will be and for PES 2014 if they don't fix it.
I'm playing PES 6 almost 6 years non stop, i know every pixel of this game, i know this game perfectly , i'm playing online games since 2007 , almost every night , but if there is lag ... just the game is not the same, everything is just ruin , is heavy to play, unpleasant and i can't enjoy enough and can't play my game.
I know that everyone who played PES 6 and knows what i mean ... . this is my big fear about PES 2014 .If Konami really don't fix the button lag and whole gemeplay is based on it as was with FIFA 08 ... would be scary . :CONFUSE:

This is literally the worst moderator in the universe. Even on WENB the card system has been torn to shreds multiple times in debates on the subject. It's terrible game design to resort to magic cards for things that should be incorporated through player stats.

It's a sad state of affairs when WENB is a better place for a balanced discussion than Evo-Web.

The button lag'll be fixed.

most of them make absolutely no sense. "pinpoint pass card".... erm, is there not already a passing stat? speed merchant? they should all be removed and be based on stats. anchorman? you mean if i want a player with certain defensive stats but want to use his ability further up the pitch, i cannot do this because of a magic card that says otherwise? so nonsensical

To an extent I agree with TheSteeeels on the cards subjetc. I respect his way of thinking outside the box, something others don't seem capable of.
Granted, many cards are basically nonsense. Others, like "elastico", are reasonable. Either you excecute ir well or you don't.
That said, not all players with the same passing technique are capable of executing a cool minded "final pass". Hence, the need of that card.

Had another wee shot tonight and the one thing that impresses me is the way the CPU tries to keep possession now. Doesn't try and through ball whore it like pes 2013. I really can't wait to get my hands on the full version. First time I years I've genuinely been excited about a football game so much so I don't think I'll even bother with FIFA this year.

hi guys 2 quick questions for those who have the demo:

can you still play with d-pad and are the lofted through balls to the attackers still so exploitable? i hope not!

CPU ai is probably the best i have seen in any pes game. tactical options also seem very fine. on gk throws sometimes some tactical options pop up.

NOt sure how people can play on those zoom out camera, game looks terrible like that. it takes away the beaty of animations, visual, close control and the exctiment that goes with it.

Anyway if u wanna avoid cpu pressure just don't press the sprint button, cpu becomes very shy, it's clearly triggered by the sprint button.

I want to thank you for being reasonable and reflective in your post. Thank you.

-- on your skills point, you actually sort of contradict yourself there: "either you execute it well or you don't" could easily be said as "you either execute it really well or you dont", or it couldve be said as "you either execute it badly or you dont". see where im going? what you stated actually implies the need for stats in regards to skill moves -- because people can execute it poorly, okayish, well, really well etc. So why not just the ability to perform skill moves decided by stats? either by combination of stats (skill moves (new stat), agility, balance, technque etc) or create stats for each skill move themself, or both.

Case in point, i just had a look on the demo for player skills. one such skill unlocks the ability to do 360 spins -- turning your body in a circle is a skill move. as if every professional footballer cannot do a 360 turn!

-- on your final point. that is true. but again, this can be remedied by stats. "cool mind" you say? cool minded for a 'final pass' should be judged by a mix of: passing, technique, composure, and any other such relevant stats. again, this is an organic method and not binary. to say "this guy cannot deliver a final pass because he doesn't have the card" is so stupid and, again, a pure developer shortcut imo

you can play with the d-pad im not too sure about the through balls as I don't d it much

thank you! yea im not using those either but many online players on pes 2013 used to spam that through ball for the whole 90 min lol it was a nightmare -_- its probably gone anyway now with the new gameplay system :))

pes6 looks like sensible soccer in comparison tbh. nice arcade game with smooth animation, but in pes 2014 u have real life physical behaviour. two worlds apart.
