PES 2014 Discussion Thread

I said it before, it depends on the time length and tactics.

So in one case Its a case of balancing 10-15 minutes so there is a reasonable enough resistance from the CPU.

In another case is you deciding how much realism do a REALLY want and should I have longer matches?

So its about us identifying what are Koanmi doning wrong and also if I'm asking too much from the settings I'm playing on.

Tactics again is essential. Two games on PES 2013 yesterday:

Colombia (me) vs Chile
West Ham vs Arsenal (me)

Both 30 minutes on Top Player (superstar is insane on 30 minutes)

The first game being the final of the Copa America, Chile I gave them their Aggressive 3-5-2 tactic with a very high line, lots of interchanging of positions and a times 7 players attacking the box. I needed to sit back, defend deep with a 4-5-1 and counter specifically with James Rodriguez, while Elkin Soto on the other flank was more of a workhorse who helped out.

I won 2-1, it was very hard, Chile are so hard to handle with this setup, so much interchange, they all do short passes between eachover and attack with such fluidity. Hard to hold down who to mark and where the danger comes from. I had a player sent off but defended deep and managed to hold on, the defining thing about this watch was Chile's intensity and how many 50/50 challenges where involved in the game, the midfield battle was so intense.

I'll upload more tactics soon for all teams in South America

Second was my Master League with Arsenal, The lineup I chose had lacked creativity without Carzola and Wilshere on purples, Only Rosicky alone at AM with Arteta behind him who is defensive minded with my stats. West Ham defended deep and essentially kicked and rushed to Vaz Te the lone man up to with Joe Cole supporting. It was hard to break them down, I played around with my tactics throughout, ended in a 2-2 draw with a last time equalizer from Chamberlin. Exciting very Premier league like game!

Two completely different matches, this is the best thing about PES in the last few years, its like playing a different videogame every match with how tactics work.
That's a good read Klashman.

In the last week I've started playing a Copa Libertadores with 20 min matches. It's been great and I've had some real good games, with ebb and flow and plenty of time for tactical changes. I'm not so impatient for PES2014 now!

I'm looking forward to seeing your South American formations and tactics. Your tactics thread is the best bar none on here (hope I'm not being too much of an arse licker).

Yep and I'm worried that regardless of how good the football is, if the ML is still limited to six leagues, no proper promotion/relegation, the same rubbish transfer system - I'll just get bored again.

This worries me too, something Konami might do is say "we've been so focused on implementing the new engine for graphics, we did not focus enough on Football Life" etc etc, and we'll have to wait for PES 2015.... hope I'm very wrong with that :/

It is a computer game and i think the level of realism that some of us want is imo a few years away. Why with all the money they have, Konami/EA and tech around we have to beg for these things, including the minor things like dirty kits and stuff really grinds my bones.

It doesn't look exactly like real life!

Damn!

I just want Konami to get it through their heads that if they were to add an extensive editor to the game complete with the ability to add as many leagues as we want to ML, then that would bring the game a lot closer towards Fifa as far as CM is concerned at least. Give us that, and I'll be happy to go without a thousand 'cosmetic' touches.

@Xavi_TRINIBarca empty league slots? Yeh, it was detailed early July it's now two extra league slots compared to last year.

Unlimited league slots would be better. If my hard drive has space, let me add as many leagues as I want.

Typical Konami.

Cheers, I'll upload them in .pef format.

I want to agree and I do in theory, it seems the reason for a limit would be the programming in master league.

One thing I give credit to Konami since Master Leagues conception right back in ISS Evolution in 2000 on the Ps1 is how smooth and bug free Master league is. Everything, all the leagues and players are well tied into each over.

If you add 10 extra leagues, in terms of the European qualification for tournaments and so on may disrupt some of the programming.

For me the best compromise is to have at least 200 extra fake/generic teams spread over 10 leagues with correct programming so you can decide which league represents which nation and how it will affect the champions league/europa league, libertadores, asia cup etc..

One thing which will help massively is to list these 200 or so teams as for offline ONLY.

The Leagues I'd want to have around are:
Europe:

Swiss League
Turkish League
Greek League
Russia League
Ukranian League
Czech League
Danish League
Swedish League
Belgian league

ROTW:
MLS
Mexican League
A-League
J-League (sort it out Konami)
K-League
UAE League
Saudi League
South African League
Egyptian League

Here is the discourse between myself and Adam:

@Adam_Bhatti Many on EVO-Web seem to agree that adding unlimited league slots to #PES14's ML would satisfy offline craving. Thoughts?

@Xavi_TRINIBarca agree? I doubt anyone in the world would disagree! But it's not that easy technically right now. And focus must be gameplay

@Adam_Bhatti Fair enough. I hope it's at least increased from last year's ML, though. Cheers.

@Adam_Bhatti Thanks. I think I missed that.

Basically Adam is right ! Technical unlimited leagues are impossible on this stage, even with new engine.

The leagues use much more files from the game , not just that a OF file. Most files are encoding in compression, in the case IMG files (or AFS )+ coded information in exe. The file map is strict row, number and size, and the files can't just appear or disappear .If you want to add or change some bin and in .exe file, frist the game must be OFF ,and you must use a lot programs and if not done correctly, the game will not work . Only way to have unlimited leagues is the files to be without encoded ,compression, something like open source, everything just with in folders, but that will never happen.

I havent enjoyed PES in the long term since the PS/2, last year came close and I really really hope that 2014 displays the gameplay that I used to know and love.

EA don't seem to have any trouble with league slots - why should Konami? I don't think it's as 'technically difficult' as they're making out. I'd advise Konami to make it a priority at some point, otherwise PES is never going to have a chance of overhauling Fifa as far as sales are concerned. Or even getting near it.

Not easy technically right now = it wasn't on the plans and there's no time left to get it in.

Being fluent on PR is a requirement these days.

This.

Master league integration need not be a problem if Konami had thought things through properly.

Anyway, I was thinking of stand-alone league mode when talking about unlimited league slots.

Yes :) and this is impossible if the game is not open source, like kitserver , or they must found other way , but this is not big deal for them , so that make this unlimited league slots more impossible ;)
