PES 2014 Discussion Thread

These promotional things are always played on a low difficulty, it's been like that for years. Strange defending means nothing (although, they really should play on harder difficulty).

It doesn't relate to it at all. Online play is setup to be arcadey.

Always has been really, can't see this changing much.

Best to find some mates who enjoy PES and play them offline. People online ranked players tend to be those weird, insecure types who only care about winning as if to give them some form of superiority complex at something in life.

I never understand this, most here are good people who if they would play online ranked will play to enjoy the game, but online in anything ranked in any game you get these strange people who don't even care about the game, they just need to win.

It's an arms race, these people send so much money to get to the top, what they want they usually get. Winning or losing in a game doesn't matter the Key to playing a game is to 'Enjoy the game!'

Konami have tried to do new things and advance new concepts into football games which they have done well in the last few years.

I don't a PES 6 replica with fancy graphics and animations, I don't want to just take any player, fake shot past 3 men then score from 45 degrees all the time or every team being able to pass really well with no need for a long ball game with poor players.

it's too easy for me, I'd get bored with that

I like new concepts of player individuality and tactical awareness which PES have shown.

So does everyone but they haven't had the budget to invest in technology to cope on this generation until now, hell, even now in terms of budget they are behind, they have caught up with what they have due to some solid programming.

Konami aren't like EA who had a separate inhouse team dedicated to building a new engine for ALL of its Sports titles to use back in 2006. They had to wait literally until now when the fox engine was produced to upgrade.

Its the same with the new Ignite Engine, a separate team has created an advanced engine for ALL of its sports title to use. 2K Sports has this also. Konami don't.

Something I think is missed where as Konami massively fucked up with PES 2008, even if they had prepared the would had struggled to match EA's engine, it was bound to happen, 'Arms Race' again.

Konami have done very well but its as if people love being negative as if its cool. I expect a company to make an effort, not absolute perfection.

Excellent post as usual, klashman, you really express well in words my feelings for PES2013. Apart from some flaws the game is for sure the best and most realistic football game ever made.

I love the fact that you must change tactics during the game if you wish to beat the AI in superstar difficulty and how the AI punish the player for trying to play defensively like old PES. I think this is the main reason for most of the complains about PES2013, people still tries to play the game like it was PES6 but it´s a complete different sport, much more a thinking game than a ping-pong-pass-and-pressure.

Balotelli sprinting with the ball.

Jesus Christ, why aren't others' opinions tolerated in here? WTF?

Uffa didn't like it, some other guys didn't like it, it reminded lons_pl of PES 2013, etc. etc.

What is the big deal? If you like it, then ok. I like it too. But why do you guys immediately jump at people for having a different opinion?!

This is one of the reasons why this thread is one of the most annoying ones to read at Evo-Web, for me at least...

Because there's really nothing there that's worthy of negative criticism. It looks good, for what it is.

I do understand what you guys mean. However, I do notice that in pes 2013; especially on one on ones; the AI defends almost perfectly; the problems that you mentioned is only evident for the playing player or on lower difficulty AI; so its safe to assume that this version of pes 2014 is played at a lower difficulty. The through ball in the wing is definitely a cause for concern though; one of the main problems for the AI in pes 2013 is that the defenders simply give too much space, allowing us to exploit the wings constantly; the human player has no problem covering that wing 90 percent of the time though, the runs are way to obvious and easily tracked.

We can't actually know anything until playing the demo anyway, so all of this are merely speculations.

Guys, please add spoilers whenever you're posting gifs or lots of images.

There are people with slow connections.

sorry guys.
I've seen the last video, and to be honest, more and more similar to previous games .. ball effect (balotelli long shot)much effect, and movements are not natural .. please respect my review ..
I can not wait free demo, and able to play, but I honestly do not see a big change

I do not think they are bad, look unnatural, I think playable demo totally change my way of thinking. I hope you understand my message

That's the thing though, I think they look very natural. A bit unsure about the ball physics (can't see much though), but animations look the best I've seen on a sports game.

This is the highly strung up place sometimes this thread.

It's like people thing being negative all the time is cool.

Why, I just don't get it, if you don't think you will enjoy the game, just don't worry about it.

I think people expect a game to play the same way they like all the time.

When we are talking about realism, football isn't like that, games vary so much from being intense, exciting and to extremely boring.

Konami worries me not realizing basic things, how to run, movements ..
more fluid? is fine, but useless if movements are unnatural ..
I want to enjoy more than anyone else in 2014, but there are things from my point of view, are wrong, just hope I'm wrong on the day of release demo

Take a break from it man.

Its not healthy to worry so much. It dosen't help anyone.

Someone needs to "cartoonize" a few gifs from a real match, people will still say they're running like robots...

Looking for things to criticize, this is what happens when you leave us to die of drought, Konami.

totaly agree, I still play Pes2013 MLO (1 bar PA) ones or twice a week, and this is the first pes where if u play realistic football you easly can beat those who just try to exploit the game

but I do think all the crazy assist settings doesnt do online gaming any good on pes, and I read somewhere that in pes2014 theres gonna be even more assist settings

I think the animations look brilliant, perhaps the defender on de rossi looked wierd, but still the animations look brilliant. A little worried with the defenders positioning.

Am I the only one who thinks ballotellis cross doesnt look right?

The header from alaba looked amazing. Really realistic. Looking forward to the demo.

I think the person controlling ballo put a curl on the cross

That was a nice leak. Just need the demo now. So far, I like what I see. Very promising changes. Seems like a whole new game.

After watching the trailers and snippets of gameplay iv noticed how the full back has alot of space to run to the half way line.
I'm hoping its on a regular difficulty setting cause to me that's a major turn off.

The animations look beautiful. So excited now. Looks fluid as hell ans it looks like the ball needs to be chased down it does not hone in on the feet. Look at Montilivo's pass to ballotelli for this.

The only slight concern I have is that the animations look like they have to finish completely. Not matter what happens(Ballotelli cross)
Ps We can't judge AI or defensive awareness from the demo as we do not know what difficulty it's locked on.

You must be high. Look at passing fluidity. It's way better than in any PES title released, ever! There is no stop motion while receiving the ball, it goes very smooth.

I can say, I am really impressed now. Hated that 1s pause before receiving the ball in previous PES, it broke fluidity and goal scoring opportunities. Of course you also found yourself on offside position too much due to stutter...

From that short video, I can see PES 2014 vastly improved over PES2013. Plus those animations (Alaba and Marchisio jumping for ball) look awesome :D (och yeah unlike FIFA, Marchisio did jump higher than Alaba :P - in FIFA Xavi wins the header against defender who is 190cm tall... No questions).

I will quote myself... I didn't even once think while watching the gifs and videos that animations look unnatural. On the contrary they look the best I have ever seen in Pro Evo game.

Also didn't notice much delay when passing/receiving the ball. If there is slight delay, good. It means that KONAMI realized that players in real life are not robots and they may need to position themselves to receive/trap the ball. They do it in real life, believe me ;).

About Balotelli cross, look at it in slowmo. Look at his leg movement and result in ball movement. Maybe the swerve is too much, but imho curled cross was perfect result in that case.

People see far too many negatives here. Take a breather and don't you dare to compare PES2014 to any other football title.

What worries me much more than gameplay this year is no news about Master League/Football Life and online modes. :/

Yep and I'm worried that regardless of how good the football is, if the ML is still limited to six leagues, no proper promotion/relegation, the same rubbish transfer system - I'll just get bored again.

I cant see why they dont build in a proper fully loaded edit/customize mode, where you can build and name the leagues exactly as you want to..They could even create a program that makes it easy for editors to import stuff rather than make it all underground..i think that would get a help sales

If you want real life go watch a match.:P

That argument has never held any water. Apart from anything else, watching a match is a bit different to controlling one...

Quite so. If such a thing existed where you could also import as many leagues as you wish to ML, complete with proper promotion/relegation, that might be all the excuse I need to never look at Fifa again.
