Routinely in recent PES titles, you see players who aren't simply straying offside, but who are clearly MILES offside and have been for the duration of the attack in question. It's not a case of them not reacting the split second they are offside; it's a case of them completely forgetting the offside rule exists, and, from a position where they're looking down the line and should be able to see they're 4 yards offside, proceeding to run forward to maintain the gap between them and the backline.
I know, Proevolone just didn't explain that well at all and when overboard, I said the bigger issue in the video for me was the player walking back onside when the ball is live on his side of the pitch, lack of urgency and awareness to stay onside and participate in the attack.
There's plenty of room in football games for an attacker to have poor intelligence or be careless about the offside rule/slow to get back, without taking things to ludicrous and artificial extremes. It's important now that PES is looking to grow up, that the more absurd 'techniques' used as a quick and easy way to create individuality or balance the play are cast out together with the old-gen tech.
Paced runs and more dynamic off the ball running system would help since players wont be running at full velocity, making them stop, take time to turn around. Programming and animations showing players looking across the line and jogging/sprinting at various speeds on their toes looking the time the run right.
That will help them in turn of understating their offside and rejoining the play asap.
You can see on PES now with player runs, players just focus on their sprint and charge up the pitch.
However, King Thierry Henry used to regularly stand extremely far offside on purpose at times, it was to play with center backs mind into simply forgetting about him in the duration of the build up, to give himself space free of his marker.
what i really hope the new game addresses is the full back bug from all PES games this gen where the right or left back will stay 10 yards behind everyone else in the defensive line and thus play all attackers onside for the tru ball, its really bad from what i can remember when playin the ai on a harder difficulty level and always goes in their favour
I agree.
It happens a lot in real life though:
I think this happens because most fullbacks have a rather low defensive rating.
I noticed when playing with Some of the teams I'm creating for the World Cup patch that full backs where better defensively in yesteryear, mainly because it wasn't obligatory like nor for full backs all to bomb forward so much. so they tackle more naturally and position themselves far better.
A lot of the rubbish defending we see really just comes from the low ratings in general for defenders, I played a few times with a France 2002 team with Desailly/Lizurazu etc... they very solid and organized because of high ratings.
I feel the balance isn't right, the full backs do this far too much, every player concedes goal like this which just annoy you because you can't do anything about it.
