It is PS3 and Xbox 360 machine they are using now. A modern dual core and GTS 450 equivalent should be able to produce quality at least as in console version at 1080p.

Oh my God, how amazing is it going to look on PC then - especially once the modders have got stuck in! I should be fine:

GPU: AMD HD 6850 1GB
RAM: 4.Gb Corsair DDR2

Possible upgrade later this year - I think I might need it for Rome 2.

Fox has its own tools? That's fantastic news; I had no idea.

They probably will never be released for general public though. But i'd imagine the code inside the game files should be much more linear and straight-forward (aka easier to reverse-engineer).

Id like to see Team ID introduced as well as Player ID.
The teams play nothing like they do in real life and thats annoying.
Barca dont play the long ball or quick attack they play patient football so id like to see this is PES14

I disagree - when playing against the AI, I'd love it if teams had their own style! Barcelona for example are never going to play long ball all game any more than Stoke would start popping the ball around.

Agreed, but what they could have is Manager ID. If they include Managers in the game, they could each have their philosophies and ideas of how to play football. That would really make the game incredibly realistic.

Doubtful. I think even the file structure will be completely different. Even if the assets are similar/the same, their implementation in Fox Engine is completely different.

Yeah, that sounds right but Konami are aware of the importance of modding in PES so I'm sure they won't actively go out of their way to make it harder to mod.

I think it can still be called Team ID. Player ID is just a nice name for player-specific attributes and animations. A Team ID could be their team specific tactical attributes/quirks.

True, but think about it like this...

A player only has a set of skills, and their own way of playing football. Coaches have their own style, so when scouting they look for players that fit their playing style. They also train their players to play a certain way, so technically a player's playing style can change due to the manager.

This would be more evident in something like ML or League mode, with the player controlling how a team plays, transfers, etc.

What you're saying will show up in the AI, where there is no "manager" to set up tactics. Of course though, recreating a "team ID", could be done through setting formations and tactics for all teams, which the community has been doing since PES6.

EDIT: TEAMVISION! Seabass was talking about AI and how it adapts to your playing style, making tactical changes depending on how the team is doing during the match. That was a failed experiment as many of us did not notice any changes...but if PES 2014 is more based around tactics, i guess Teamvision could be a reality.

Of course, it would be even better if a team could adapt to the way you're playing, but I'm not sure if we're there just yet with the tech.

I hope they recreated his moves correctly. I think the time when they got Messi dribbling animation closest to the real thing was in PES 2008, believe it or not. And there wasn't even such thing as PlayerID back then.I want to see him run, carry the ball, dribble, and shoot just like he does in real life. Specially the way he runs WITH the ball which is amazing, so close to his left foot.

I thought that with the new feature called PlayerID they announced for PES 2013 we would get the real Messi. I mean Ronaldo, Neymar, Robben and some others were really accurate but Messi wasn't.

Exactly, there are too many factors to consider. "Manager ID" could be better used to describe a teams playing style, but creating a Manager ID for every team in the game would be difficult. So the most the community can do is change the tactics and formation of each team to replicate their current playing style. In ML a team's playing style can be evident within the first season or so, until new players are transfered in and out, as they bring new stats that may change how they play within the team. For example, taking Xavi out of Barcelona and replacing him with Schweinsteiger who's more aggressive and direct, may change how Barcelona play because of his stats and cards(? if they're still included), despite having their formation and tactics set to a specific playing style.

no, it wouldnt. if the tactics are set up for that strategy, then that is the strategy that would be played. the difference is that it wouldnt be as EFFECTIVE, because schweinteiger can't do Xavi's job like Xavi can. only a bad manager (the gamer) would try to use barcas strategy with inappropriate players.

If anything overall rating attempts to over simplify players selection, I'd sooner judge players based on the stats I want for their position than the bloody rating they're given, but that rating seems to dominate it all..

Back on PES5-2010 (I think) I used to like making up my own categories for each position and search for the correct player each time in ML.. I wouldn't touch Huddlestone on the new games, yet on PES 2010 he was my star man in a 433 team.

So what it is movement of player like previous PES is now on right stick, so once you line up your player, u don't need rightstick any more. Ten left stick is the position of the ball you hit, and you hold this in position so if you let go of the left analogue, your aim on the ball goes back to the centre. Basically if the old system was still in place, the difference would be that moving your player has been switched from left analogue to right.

It works well, what I mean by that is a right footed player can strike it 2 completely different ways, depending on their run up and angle of striking the ball, meaning you can side foot curl it or cut across it like Carlos for opposite curl.

I didn't have too many freekicks but the same system is for corners too. Nothin ott with players I was using but I'm sure with certain players you'd be able to get significant curl/accuracy. It felt right though.

Not more licences, but more content. Any way Konami can find to expand the game off the pitch will help them enormously; be that empty league slots, or DLC microtransactions to help them secure some real extra leagues. Seriously, if Konami can find a way to make their 'Career Mode' as deep as EA's then there's just no competition. As you said, licences are not important: the modders will take care of that in a jiffy, but modders can't add extra leagues as far as I know - I'd love to be wrong about that.

For me, PES' six league limit is by far the weakest thing in the series.

On the pitch, PES 14 is impressing me a lot. Compared to Fifa 14, the pace is spot on. The daytime lighting is fantastic (and I'm sensing proper dynamic lighting - look at those floodlights on during the day with the shadow indicating early evening). The night time lighting is just as good. The stadiums look fantastic, the crowd looks fantastic, the AI appears excellent, the animation is improved beyond sight and I love the sound of how the crowd will be properly dialled into the flow of the game now.

I can't wait to get my hands on the demo; when does that usually show up these days?

Fifa? From what I've seen so far, the defending is just as bad, the speed is still too fast, the celebrations are the same stupid crap. I haven't seen much of 'NG' just yet, but the impressions at EA Forums are that this is PES' year regardless of which version of Fifa it's being put up against.

Incidentally, have any changes been made to PES version of 'Gameface'? The way I remember it, all you had to do was stick your face in the template, and that was it! No fiddling about with dots, no hopping from game to website and out there on the pitch it looked exactly like my head had been stuck on top of a footballer's body. Amazing. Hopefully it still works the same way now, because it didn't need any changes at all!
